Hi, please don't use template messages when there's something you could explain a lot easier without one. It would be more useful to just tell someone what you did (replacing a dvd cover with a poster in an article) instead of using a generic template and having the recipient figure out what's happened. Scheider pictures

For Image:Sheriff Brody.jpg the subject is fictional you can't get free ones, screen caps, publicity pictures and anything else would be copyrighted. It is used in the jaws article and for Roy Scheider because it's his most famous role and this picture is easily found in lots of articles, magazines, websites, etc but still a low resoloution. The first (Roy Scheider.jpg) is a file photo from the mid eighties when his fame was at it's highest and you can't go back in time to take one yourself and since he is dead you can't now walk up and say "mind if i get a pic for wikipedia?" You recently edited this article to say that there is one year between the events of Die Hard and Die Hard 2. Can you cite a source that says this? For instance, I know that Die Hard 2 takes place in 1990, as Powell says Cochrane died "two years ago" on 5-1-88. McClane also make reference to waking up and smelling the nineties. Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Hi, I see that you've been uploading a lot of posters (I've run across a lot of ones you've uploaded in the past) for film articles, and want to see good job. I just wanted to point out that due to the limitations of non-free images, WP:FILMS is working hard to minimize the size of the images that are uploaded to comply with the guidelines of the criteria (as shown here and here). When uploading future images, make sure that one of the dimensions is 300px or less, so that it complies with the guidelines. If you need further clarification on this, please let me know. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

Updating footballer infoboxes

Hi, and keep up the good work updating player infoboxes (and using edit summaries: too many people don't bother!!) But please could I ask you to wait until the player actually makes the appearance you're giving him before doing it. As an example, according to Fabrice Muamba's infobox (before I changed it), he'd made 14 appearances "correct as of 14:30, 22 November 2008 (UTC)"; that was actually half-an-hour before his 14th appearance kicked off, so wasn't correct. Film poster

Hey, thanks for updating The Reader (film) with the new poster image! I wanted to let you know that you can use a simpler template for the image description page. The ten-point criteria is a little bit overkill, originally written to really make sure the images were valid (I should know, I wrote the criteria myself). You can instead use {{Non-free use rationale}}... you can see it being used at an image like Image:Fight Club poster.jpg. Also, it may be worth looking at MOS:FILM#Image for more details about adding a poster image to the infobox. Cheers! —Erik (talk • contrib) 17:46, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for using the template! Definitely simplifies the image description page without losing anything. I was wondering if I could ask about a slightly different approach... could you end poster images' names with "poster", such as "New in Town poster"? The reason I ask is that it can be differentiated from other images used in the same article. Updating player appearances

Again, can I ask you please not to update players' appearances until they actually make them. It's unsourced and inaccurate, particularly when, as today with this edit to Kevin Nolan, you put an update time of 15.00UTC when this time has not yet been reached. As to policy, I suggest WP:Verifiability. The game does indeed kick off at 15.00, and until the player crosses the white line at the start of that game, then he hasn't played in it, and there won't be a reliable source to say he has played in it. On the team sheet, yes, but not on the pitch. Incidentally, I think your 0.0001% chance is a bit of an underestimate; I've been to about 20 games this season, and a player has broken in the warmup in three of them. Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
