Dear Alex, I want to thank you for posting this article. My two year old beautiful daughter has been diagnosed with epilepsy and the doctors want to start her on AEDs. I want been a virtual zombie trying to figure out what to do. AEDs with all their side effects are something I would not want to do unless all other choices have been exhausted. We live in the far east and the medical facilities are not that great. For emergency medical treatment I would have to take my little girl three hours away and cross into another country!

Till I read your article all I had seen on my web searches had been the most terrible news for any parent. But the symptoms described and the EEG findings are exactly what my little one has. So, thanks again. For the moment we have decided against starting her on AEDs and just internd to treat the status epilipticus. I now have something to discuss with the neuro when we see him.
