Dissertation help

[edit]

Hi,

my name is Nathalie Rees and I'm from the UK. I am doing a Masters in Library and Information Management and I'm currently writing my dissertation about Wikipedia. I am doing a case study on the Panic! at the Disco page, seeing how it gets edited and what changes occur. I would be incredibly grateful if you would let me do an email interview with you, as I would like to talk to people who contribute to the page. I am also interested in your work in thd clean-up project for the page.

The email interview won't be for another couple of weeks but I wanted to check if I had people to interview!!

It would be great to hear from you soon. My email address is nathalierees@hotmail.com

Thanks, Nathalie Nats82 14:26, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 14:50, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Firefox 3 - Just Hit 7 Million.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Firefox 3 - Just Hit 7 Million.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Drive to the City

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Drive to the City, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unsourced, so fails wp:v and wp:music

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Jeandré, 2009-04-23t11:38z 11:38, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism to iPod Touch page

[edit]

If you disagree with the description and/or addition of today's new iPod Touch, or want greater citations, add a "citation needed" tag, don't undo other people's work. --Sam (talk) 20:28, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The user adding the info about today's iPod Touch release being a 'third generation' is technically the vandal. It is a revision of the second generation until Apple says otherwise.
Since when is the manufacturer the only authoritative source about what constitutes a hardware generation? If there are other mainstream sources referring to this as a third-generation device, that sounds like enough of a citation to me. Wikipedia isn't a marketing site-- the manufacturer's opinion is informational only, not definitive. --Sam (talk) 17:09, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Tvcatchup november 2008 logo.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Tvcatchup november 2008 logo.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Cloudbound (talk) 14:43, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article FUCT has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

old copy-paste WP:SPAM later closely paraphrased - no ref except original cut-paste source (now dead) - no reliable evidence of WP:Notability and no attempt to show notability after tagging

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
