Suters Limited
[edit]I took a look at your draft on Suters Limited now at User:Philip1951/sandbox. While you have labeled it a "Brief History" it is in fact rather long for a typical Wikipedia article on a business. It should probably be edited to reduce the amount of detail it contains. But more importantly, a Wikipedia article needs to demonstrate that its subject is notable. This term is used in a special way on Wikipedia. A subject is generally considered to be notable if multiple independent 3rd-party reliable sources have published significant content about the subject. This does not include passing mentions, directory listings or the like. It also does not include content published by the subject of the article or by people or entities closely associated with the subject. It also does not include near verbatim reprints of press releases or other republications of the subject's own words. See WP:CORP for more details on this.
In addition, significant facts in a Wikipedia article should be cited inline to reliable sources, so that readers can verify them and see where the information comes from. Uncontroversial facts 9such as the date that a business was founded) can be cited to primary sources such as a businesses own publications, but any interpretations and any even slightly controversial statements should be cited to an independent reliable source. See Referencing for beginners for details on how to add citations to Wikipedia drafts and articles.
Also, Wikipedia articles should have significant terms wiki-linked. This is done by putting double square brackets around the term to be linked, such as [[Industry]], which makes the link Industry.
Please read "Your first article" for more on how to create a valid and useful Wikipedia article. I hope this was helpful. DES (talk) 15:08, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Suters Limited – A brief History of the company and the people behind it
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Suters Limited – A brief History of the company and the people behind it requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.philipsuter.co.uk/Suters_Ltd.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Suters Department Stores of Slough and Uxbridge
[edit]Suter and Son opened a shop at 101-103 High Street, Slough in September 1920. The former owner of G W Suter, Drapery and his son Clarence were initially involved in this drapery. In 1924 the business of Garrick & Coles in High Street, Uxbridge was acquired and Clarence’s three other brothers – Arthur, Frank and John became involved with the business. As a result of an inheritance from Frank Denning a very wealthy self made man and a former Mayor of Croydon and managing director of Welford's Surrey Diaries, the family had plenty of funds to expand the business. The Slough premises was rebuilt and in Uxbridge premises across the road from the original Garrick & Coles building was acquired and a brand new department store on three floors was completed by 1938 and the company became known as Suters Ltd. After the second World War smaller units were acquired in Windsor, Ruislip and Ashford (Middlesex) but were disposed of in the early 1960s and the Slough High Street site being re-built and opened by Canadian actor Robert Beatty in 1962. This store had four trading floors plus soft furnishing workshops car parking to the rear. The company employed a large number of employees in these two modern department stores. They worked with other similar independent departments store groups like Bentalls, David Evans, Bonds of Norwich and Jenners in Edinburgh buying a lot of their merchandise under the Associated Independent Stores - AIS buying group. As a result of the local authority’s compulsory purchase of the land at the rear of the Slough store to develop the Queensmere Shopping centre, the family decided to sell the business to Owen Owen of Liverpool. After being major retailers in Slough and Uxbridge for more than fifty years and being in the retail business since 1745 in Lincolnshire to Ledbury in Herefordshire the Suter family’s retail history came to an end. The Suter retail name continued in Marlow and Wallingford for a few more years. Owen Owen sold the Slough store to Alders and it eventually became a branch of Debenhams. The Uxbridge store was not included in the sale to Alders and was split into two units. It is now occupied by Superdrug on the ground floor and Sports Direct on the first and second floors. The Suters Department store name is still very well remembered nearly forty years after the family sold out by people who grew up in Slough and Uxbridge in the 1960s and 1970s.
