License tagging for Image:Time trial.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Time trial.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:10, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on 1997 UCI Road World Championships - Men's Road Race requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. CultureDrone (talk) 20:23, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Friendly question

[edit]

Hi - I saw some of your recent articles on cycling races and they look great. I'm just confused by one of the words you used in at least two of the articles: triptytch or triptych - which as far as I can tell is a three-pieced artwork. Perhaps this is just a word that the dictionary sites haven't picked up one the common use of, but can you please explain exactly what it means (and if it's not the correct word perhaps I can help find a better word). Thanks.    7  talk |     04:07, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed it. In Dutch (I'm from Holland) the term triptych (for the artwork) is sometimes also used more colloquially as a way of referring to another kind of three-pieced thing, be it an event or trilogy or accomplishment or whatever. I probably didn't realize there is no such connotation in English. Thanks for the heads-up. Pherdy.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Pherdy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 698 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cycling sprinter, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sean Kelly. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
