Click symbols

[edit]

Hi Pemba.mpimaji! the lateral click in ǁKaras Region has a particular IPA symbol, the ǁ. You can see this and the other three clicks of Khoekhoegowab in the infobox to your right. You find these symbols underneath the editing window if you select "IPA" from the drop-down menu. Please don't change any further occurrences of the click symbol ǁ into two forward slashes //, as this spelling is not correct. I will undo your changes to Tses‎ and a dozen other pages now, no worries. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

The reason that newspapers and government officials spell it "//" is that word processing software and typewriters cannot produce the correct symbol. For a longer discussion on how to spell ǁKaras Region, please see Talk:ǁKaras Region. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 08:51, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of tribes in Uganda, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Baamba. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:03, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it seems that you are in doubt whether this subject ever exists. You mentioned “Surely if this existed there would be something other than student theses that mentioned it?”
I came across GIBANA during a consulting work and found little information on it. That is why I drafted this submission.
The main source (legal term, but not well defined) is the South Sudan Local Government Act and the article has a proper reference to it. An Act is no student thesis. Secondly, there are more references to PhD theses, and these are also no “student work”! which maybe be considered as inproper source.
In a nutshell, these are all sources that I could find about Gibana and I cann assure you that the draft has multiple published sources that are in-depth, reliable, secondary and independent of the subject. All criteria for submission on Wikipedia are fulfilled and the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article! Please let me know if and why you still have a different view on it. If you are really still in doubt, please have a look at the mentioned references. Pemba.mpimaji (talk) 11:30, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The purpose of Wikipedia is to collate information about subjects that has already been written. If you found little information on gibana, it's unlikely to be a suitable subject for Wikpedia. Sionk (talk) 16:21, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In summary, the draft refers to multiple published sources that are in-depth, reliable, secondary and independent of the subject.
I don´t understand your additional comment about the "added source". This source was added by another user but it mentions "gibana tax" (see section 74 in the PDF). However, I moved the reference to the first paragraph as it was a duplicate. Pemba.mpimaji (talk) 17:50, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
