However, you create articles like Shirley Babashoff which contain almost no information. If you want to create stubs on persons, they should at least contain WHY someone is notable. Noone can guess that she was a swimmer, and why does your article not say she won an olympic medal? What what you think of an encyclopedia if you check about lets say "John F. Kennedy", and all it says is "he was born on May 29, 1917? You probably would throw it to the garbage bin. andy 16:32, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
Likewise that Luca Agamennoni thing. When the total content is "Luca Agamennoni was born on August 8, 1980," you're not creating an article so much as making a statement. Who is this? Why should we care? What important things has he/she done? The comment you left on the talk page asking "man or woman, that is the question" is totally inappropriate. We welcome your contributions, but please make them constructive ones. Andy's comment above is particularly important. - Lucky 6.9 17:16, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
I looked up Luca Agamennoni and found what is on the page. I don't know if it is a man or a woman. It says sport rowing but I don't know if it means for this person. It says Italy but I don't know for who. Here is the link maybe you know. http://sports.yahoo.com/oly/ita/Luca+Agamennoni/1729930 --Peacearoundtheworld 17:19, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
I'd say with physical stats like that, we're talking "guy." That would be a seriously frightening lady. :) As far as looking up things, you've done fine. What you have now is at least the beginning of a good, short article. It could use some more content, but it's serviceable now. We now know who he is, what he did and for whom. Good job! Take a look at the Wikipedia:Manual of style to learn more. Check out any of the featured articles as well to get a feel for layout. Hope this helps, and I'm glad to help as well. Welcome to the club! - Lucky 6.9 17:31, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
One more thing: Go back to some of your other recent edits and do the same thing. They don't all have to be feature quality. Stub articles with some basic information are more than welcome. Have fun. - Lucky 6.9 17:31, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
Hockey players
[edit]Hello! Given your stub articles on Tom Poti and Jiri Fischer, I thought you might be interested in joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey. It has helpful information on how to format articles on hockey players, and has a bunch of links that I found helpful for working on hockey-related stuff. All the best. --Scimitar parley 19:59, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Peacearoundtheworld! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 14 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
