Do you actually intend to do something about creating an "AdSteam" article?
If so, I think that's "really good"!

Yes, I actually started working on it last night. It's in my sandbox User:Spy007au/Sandbox2. I would happy to combine resources, if you want. Wikipedia is only a hobby for me, when I get some free time, so I can go days without editing. From what I can see, there is a real need for the article. Let me know.

I'll be watching State of Origin tonight, so won't be editing, but will probably start doing some more researching and writing tomorrow night. I usually put my articles up for DYK, so once the article is complete, we can submit it as a joint effort. BTW, I was born and raised in Adelaide, hence my interest in this article. I like what you've been doing, and I think that this is very nice! Yes, I was always amused by the fact that AdSteam owned 15% of Westpac, financed by money AdSteam had borrowed from Westpac. Another Spalvins trick was DJs owned a controlling interest in AdSteam, and AdSteam owned a controlling interest in DJs, making the pair "takeover-proof". (And yes, the boards of the two companies had very similar membership.) I had a complete set of AdSteam annual reports from 1985-1995, but I had a big cleanup last year and threw them out ...

WOW, you certainly have added a lot of material and worked on the article. It's looking great. I didn't realise AdSteam had so much history/information surrounding it. No wonder you lost steam (pardon the pun) earlier on. I have been very quiet with the researching, editing and writing the past few days. You're very polite, and thanks for the encouragement, but I agreed to work on "demise", and haven't done a thing on that section. Still, WP is supposed to be "recreation" ...

"I didn't realise ... " - Well, I didn't know about the ANA ownership! That must have been a "nice little earner" until the Govt stood up TAA and took away their monopoly!!

The statement: "1940s Diversified into towage, shipbuilding, salt, coal and sugar industries" sounds interesting. "Towage" we know about, but "shipbuilding, salt, coal and sugar industries"??

"but will put some time aside in the next few days to see if we can complete it." - I'm in no hurry. The more I look, the more surprises I find! I don't expect to find another major surprise like ANA, but I'd almost be prepared to wager that there's more to find than "just" shipbuilding, salt, coal and sugar.

Yes, I've noticed the constrained project protocols on military articles. My go is writing content. The long and laboured process of researching, stealing and blending copy and putting it together in a hopefully half-interesting manner such as on this and this. Along the way I'll also add pre-1955 PD photos where I can. So if anyone wants to whinge about my page layouts (& fix them) I really don't care. I did a "What links here" on Southcorp Wines. (It seems that almost nothing does.)

I guess I must have thought it would be a good idea to create a few links that did "link here". (It seemed like a "good idea" at the time ... )

(I'm collaborating on developing an article on the Adelaide Steamship Company; AdSteam sold its wineries to SA Brewing Holdings, who "gathered" them into "Southcorp Wines". When the AdSteam article is fit to stand up, I'll start addressing the red links like "Southcorp Wines".)

Feel free to revert it if you wish; it will be a while before I get to writing the article.

Three questions:

1) How goes it?

I'm good thanks, public holiday here in Darwin today (show day), so it's agood day.

2) What's the DYK status?

I listed the article here: [2] Waiting for someone to review it. I looked into the contrary unsourced claim, but I am comfortable that our "hook" has several independent and reliable sources, so decided to let it run. I'm still considering raising the issue on the container ship talk page.

3) Cats: "Ocean Liners"? Really?

I placed that cat in during the early drafting stages while populating the article, but agree, it probably should not be there if you want to remove it.

Good Work PDfpdf ! I am glad to see you used works by Ronald Parsons, as he is certainly a good authority on SA maritime history. From my reading ( I have a Parson's book I'm using to work on another article) there is much from founding to the 20th century that may be of interest to add (labour disputes, strikes, coal wars etc). Milk

You're probably right. I actually came across this a few weeks ago and was wondering if it was a mistake but did a quick search and found that 1.1L bottles did seem to exist in Australia so decided it was a bit complicated and never edited it. I remembered it recently and so decided I should correct it. Looking now at an Australian online supermarket website it appears both 1L and 1.1L milk bottles exist with 1L possibly being the more common form. Here in NZ on the otherhand 1.1L bottles don't exist AFAIK at least I've never seen any but I've also never paid much attention so I could be wrong. Hila Levy

Hello Pdfpdf, thank you for mentioning your concern in my tlak page. Thanks to you I found out that soemone blanked and created a redirect page of Hila Levy which is intended to be a disambiguation page. I fixed it. The reason for the disambiguation is that there are two people with the exact same name even if one does not have an article. Hila Levy, made history when she became the first Puerto Rican to be awarded a Rhodes scholarship and has been featured in various newspaper articles as such. Hi! I understand what you're coming from, but the way I see it, the only reason IPs can't start AfDs is because they have a technical limitation (they can't create new pages). If the editor wants to start an AfD, they should be allowed to. In any case, they can explain their reasoning on the AfD page. Of course, discussing on the talk page first would be the preferable option but it seems that they've decided not to. It's terrible, I completely forget writing that message! But given the "accidental" election of Ann Bressington to the state upper house fascinated me at the time, it must have been me writing that.

As far as "voting for a group below the line" goes, it would be possible to do it "manually". The voter would put the numbers 1 to x (x being 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6) in order in the column of candidates for that group below the line. I suppose that's what the quoted text refers to.

I'm sorry that I clicked on a button that I didn't intend to. However, in light of your complaining, I have given your article a second look and found several problems: a title that does not follow the Manual of Style ("NZ" instead of "New Zealand"), lack of an explanation as to what this list is, and obvious formatting problems. Moreover, the list has no references for verification, and has some obvious template problems as well.
