Hello, you had tagged this school for speedy deletion as A7; I regret to say that I removed the A7 tag, as that criterion specifically excludes educational institutions. I suspect the odds are decent it wouldn't survive a PROD or AfD and I might even later tag it with one of those if you don't do it first. Best wishes 331dot (talk) 10:26, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know 331dot. Would you mind PROD tagging it for me? I concur with your statement that it would fail that procedure. Thanks, Zerotalk 10:27, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- No problem. 331dot (talk) 10:30, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Folkestone
Hi Patient zero. Thank you very much for your message. I can confirm this is the first time I really use Wiki but all the information that were revised on the page of Folkestone are not to promote the town bu updated news and historical facts that were missing. The pictures are all mine and I just wanted to update the page are all the recent information are wrong, outdated and the building in the pictures don t exist anymore. Thank you for your understanding. Fred — Preceding unsigned comment added by Folkestoneisbeautiful (talk • contribs) 11:04, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Your addition of a CSD tag
Hello there! This is to let you know that I've removed the CSD tag which you have added to the Mitter Sain Meet article. There is a clear mention in the article that the subject has won a Sahitya Akademi award in 2008 which in itself is an "indication of importance". Please be advised that the CSD A7 criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines. However, in this article there is a reference to support the claim. You are free to use other deletion venues if you still think that the article meets deletion criteria. Thanks! Jim Carter 12:35, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help today Jim Carter - I am thinking of taking it to AfD. Zerotalk 12:36, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- To what you said in the above thread, I would like to highlight that alone "badly written" is strictly not a reason to take an article to AFD or tag Prod. It needs improvement not deletion. Thanks! Jim Carter 12:48, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Mitter Sain Meet
I had created this page Mitter Sain Meet on punjab base authors in the Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Events/Punjab Edit-a-thon it was a basic page and a stub the page later was edited and changed by other editors who i felt had a conflict of interest.I feel he is a notable author and has won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2008 for his novel Sudhar Ghar which is the highest honour in lecture in India.I will get this page back to a stub please consider removing the speedy tag.I would like to invite @Jim Carter:,@Titodutta: Thank you FITINDIA (talk) 12:12, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Fitindia - could you please find more reliable sources which indicate this person's notability? I'm concerned about the lack of them, which are violations of WP:BLP, and not seeing any at all within the article I decided to add the A7 tag. I will not remove it until this is done, or an administrator tells me otherwise. Zerotalk 12:22, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- User:Fitindia It does not fall under A7, in my opinion. A Sahitya Akademi award winner is notable enough. If you want you can revert recent edits mentioning reasons such as copyvio, unsourced puffery etc. --Tito Dutta (talk) 12:25, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- In all fairness, the article is badly written. What do you think about AfD or PROD, Titodutta and Jim Carter? Zerotalk 12:29, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- Badly written is not an AFD or PROD criteria. If the article is badly written, fix it. Also it is clear a few recent edits added those content in the article. --Tito Dutta (talk) 03:56, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:
- Michael Hardy is reminded that:
- Administrators are expected to set an example with their behavior, including refraining from incivility and responding patiently to good-faith concerns about their conduct, even when those concerns are expressed suboptimally.
- All administrators are expected to keep their knowledge of core policies reasonably up to date.
- Further misconduct using the administrative tools will result in sanctions.
- MjolnirPants is reminded to use tactics that are consistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines, and the 4th Pillar when dealing with other users they are in dispute with.
- The Arbitration Committee is reminded to carefully consider the appropriate scope of future case requests. The committee should limit "scope creep" and focus on specific items that are within the scope of the duties and responsibilities outlined in Arbitration Policy.

Neelix redirects
As I have now created the necessary categorization, you may now tag Neelix redirects with {{db-x1}}. Thanks. Safiel (talk) 15:44, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Safiel! That will be useful - can it be done through TW or does it have to be done manually? Thanks in advance, Patient Zerotalk 17:55, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- It has to be done manually. Since this is a temporary criterion, it probably would not be worthwhile to update Twinkle, and in any event, I have no idea how to do that anyhow. Safiel (talk) 17:59, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, and I noticed it is misspelt Nellix within the edit summary for the deletions (see Sergecross' log). Could that be rectified? Apologies if it cannot - I respect the fact that it is only a temporary category! Sorry if I am being pedantic. Patient Zerotalk 18:01, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

I just wanted to let you know that manual tagging X1's is often unnecessary. @Tavix:, or another administrator will go through those lists on a somewhat regular basis and process them all at once, and tagging them individually typically is a waste of your time and harder on the deleting admin. It also clogs up the speedy noms category, obscuring pages that really do need to be deleted quickly.
Cheers, Tazerdadog (talk) 01:00, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Tazerdadog: Just to clarify one thing: the fact that there's now a dedicated category makes my job easier somewhat. While I'd still have to decline individually, the d-batch tool does work for categories so I wouldn't have to copy and paste to my sandbox in order to delete them. I just don't want to discourage that method if that's what Patient 0 wants to do. Keep up the great work, both of you! -- Tavix (talk) 02:31, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
- Excellent, I didn't realize that. Please disregard my earlier comment. Tazerdadog (talk) 02:34, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

I've declined the speedy, as it looks like one of Neelix's more sensible redirects. Quite a few of his are actually sound - which is why they're not being nuked. If the target contains the redirect's title as something featured or reasonably well referred to, then the redirect is OK and it shouldn't be tagged. Peridon (talk) 19:09, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

Some friend dropping by...
Patient Zero - Hi, just came by to greet you... Long time no see since July... (I don't care if this line is deleted, anyway. I am no policy violator.) (>_<) -- Nin-5H (talk) 18:21, 8 October 2016 (UTC) October 09, 2016, 02:17 A.M. (PST)
- Hi Nin-5H, how are you doing? It has been a while.
Patient Zerotalk 09:36, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
- Hey Patient Zero, I'm doing fine, but never been better because I have to choose a school course tomorrow Monday. My parents are saying to make up my mind right now. Feels like everything is rushed on me. To me, growing up is really f****** hard that my later teen life will suck as far as I know it. I wish I was still 13 years old so I could enjoy anything that I am interested at (which will never last long). Aki (talk). October 09, 2016. 10:19 P.M. (PST).
- Nin-5H: That's difficult. I remember selecting my GCSE's, and having to choose between subjects. In hindsight I'm glad I chose the ones I did. Nice user page, by the way! Patient Zerotalk 17:10, 9 October 2016 (UTC)
- Patient Zero: Yeah. I'm just so afraid that I might choose a wrong course, or get extremely bored with a course that I chose. If only there are school courses that are easy and fun, yet compatible with my skills. Aki (talk) October 10, 2016, 09:04 A.M. (PST).
- Nin-5H: I was thinking the exact same thing. You're into creative writing, right? Is there anything you can do in this field? Patient Zerotalk 10:14, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
- Patient Zero: Yes, although my parents would scold me for writing Rated M fics. My fics would be rated SPG for some dark, negative themes. Sometimes, I would feel guilty as a fan of my fave things. My mother recently chastised me and told me to just go do math problems instead. (Which I really hated more than a bad sickness.). I just hate how life works sometimes, it's so boring, dull, and worst of all, mundane. I wish life has lots of enjoyable sparks, to feel like everything is spiced up. Aki (talk) October 11, 2016, 01:15 P.M. (PST).

I don't know whom your edit summary addressed when making part of a section header (correctly) lowercase. I reverted to the header that was in the article before. Sadly, the principal author is not available. Please keep watching. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:53, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Ben Ainsle
Recently you reverted my edit on the Ben Ainsle wikipedia page. "He is the first person to win medals in five different Olympic Games in sailing, the third person to win five Olympic medals in that sport (after Torben Grael and Robert Scheidt) and also the second to win four gold medals, after Paul Elvstrøm.[2][3][4]". I edited it to say he was the 2nd person to win medals in 5 different Olympic Games as Torben Grael would have competed this feat before him. Why was this reverted? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.239.7.5 (talk) 16:30, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

Ref KGirlTrucker81
Hi Patient Zero - just keeping an half-eye on the ongoing RfA, and I noticed your response to KGirlTrucker81's oppose !vote. The rationale of his vote aside, you mentioned a bunch of user rights I don't think they need or are abusing
(emphasis own) - I've warned them in the past for speedy CSD tagging, but do you have any other diffs? If you honestly believe permissions abuse is going on, you should consider letting myself, another admin or ANI know. Cheers! -- samtar talk or stalk 16:49, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
- Will do Samtar. The use of the phrase "abusing" was directly towards his PCR right and none of the others; my apologies if my response was ambiguous in this way as I understand it could well be a WP:NPA vio at best. Once again, my apologies - but yes, I am aware of the fact you have warned him in the past, and your warning is part of my evidence I wish to put forward should I ever formally request a revocation. For your ease of access here are the diffs I found in which he is abusing his PCR right:
- [1] - accepting vandalism (sneaky, I know, but still accepting vandalism)
- [2] (follow-up to diff 1)
- [3] (this one is ridiculous)
- [4] (unsourced)
- [5]; explanation was equally absurd
- [6]
- [7] (three in one go here)
- [8] (tricky to spot at first; look closely)
All diffs courtesy of multiple editors. Do let me know what you think.

WP:ORCP
Hi, Not sure if you're aware but an editor had nominated you on their behalf at WP:ORCP (Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Optional_RfA_candidate_poll#Patient_Zero:_December_19.2C_2016),
I've speedy closed it however if you ever want to retry this year or next year you're more than welcome too,
Thanks and Happy editing. –Davey2010 Merry Xmas / Happy New Year 16:24, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, apparently you're not allowed to nominate other editors for the ORCP. I thought you would be a pretty good admin, but it was closed pretty quick because you can't have a third party nominator. So it's kind of awkward now because I was going to notify you after some time went by, to prevent a 'bias', for lack of a better word. Looking back on it, it was a pretty stupid idea, hehe. It's pretty awkward now, so I'll just end here. See you around. UN$¢_Łuke_1Ø21Repørts 16:36, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
- Cheers Davey - if you don't mind, I've re-opened it to see if anyone thinks I'm any good these days ;-). UNSC Luke 1021: I know what you did wasn't orthodox, but seriously, I thank you. - I mean, I realized it sounded kind of weird to say 'surprise'. It kind of makes it sounds like a birthday party, where everyone is happy and the feelings of the candidate aren't broken. Frankly, the entire RfA system, even the ORCP division, is pretty harsh on candidates as well as voters, scrutinizing every little mistake. The personification of a birthday party wouldn't make much sense. I tried to make it more of a 'pre-prepared' thing, where if you were well received and then you agreed with the nomination we could just go instead of going through all of the technical crap. Editor of the Week seeking nominations (and a new facilitator)
The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!
In addition, the WikiProject is seeking a new facilitator/coordinator to handle the logistics of the award. Please contact L235 if you are interested in helping with the logistics of running the award in any capacity. Remove your name from here to unsubscribe from further EotW-related messages. Thanks, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 05:19, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer
Hello Patient Zero. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog (around 15,000 pages) down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:34, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.2
- A HUGE backlog
We now have 806 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.
The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.
- Second set of eyes
Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.
- Abuse
This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and
- this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
- this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
- This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.
Coordinator election
Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Discouragement
Are you well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BorkBorkGoesTheCode (talk • contribs) 22:41, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi BorkBorkGoesTheCode - good to hear from you. I'm OK I guess; I asked for my wikibreak script to be disabled, so I can reply on here. I'm currently rather busy with schoolwork (doing A levels) so I have to prioritise that; in addition to this real life and Wikipedia have been rather stressful (I had an article deleted under A7 even though the subject had a claim to significance, which says a lot) and I just feel as if the whole time I've been editing, I've had people being rather judgemental of the fact that I am young. It just seems that there is a general belief amongst one too many editors that young editor or new editor = disruptive and incompetent. So I'm taking a long break from here. Hope all is well with you, by the way. Sorry to have projected on to you like this. Patient Zerotalk 13:51, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
- Don't let this drive you away from Wiki. When I'm in these kind of situations, I think less of it as I say to myself "its only an encyclopedia, not something thats going to change my life" because at the end of the day, it is only an encyclopaedia, and its not going to affect your life in the slightest if you get into conflict. Anyway, thats just my view. I'll be here for you if you need any on-wiki motivation when you return from your break. I'm sure that most people don't think of younger editors like you or me as disruptive and incompetent, everyone should be proud that some young people decide to sign up, as not many young people do and think of us to help the encyclopaedia, not to destroy it. Good luck with your exams mate, and when you return, drop me a line on my talk page! My talk page is always open if you need anything. And don't let this on-wiki stress get to you, its only an encyclopedia! Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 15:02, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
- Good to hear from you too Class455, and thanks for your kind words. They are very much appreciated. I agree that people shouldn't generalise, but they do, and I know why: most children/teenagers that make accounts on Wikipedia are here to insert swearwords into articles and nothing else. A select few of us are really good editors who get unfairly generalised because of the majority. I'll definitely message you when I return; I'll probably be back officially and resuming normal editing patterns by early April (I'm on holiday this March, looking forward to that). I have exams between then and after April, so I'll probably be off for the whole of May and perhaps a bit of June. You're right, it's only Wikipedia and no conflicts that occur here have the potential to be life-changing. Once again, thanks for stopping by. :-) Patient Zerotalk 13:44, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

- The 2017 appointees for the Ombudsman commission are Góngora, Krd, Lankiveil, Richwales and Vogone. They will serve for approximately 1 year.
- A recent query shows that only 16% of administrators on the English Wikipedia have enabled two-factor authentication. If you haven't already enabled it please consider doing so.
- Cookie blocks should be deployed to the English Wikipedia soon. This will extend the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user after they switch accounts under a new IP.
- A bot will now automatically place a protection template on protected pages when admins forget to do so.

- Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
- The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
- An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
- After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.
- After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
- Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

RfA Oppose
I've let a lot of similar !votes go without comment so sorry for picking on you. I'm not even sure why really; maybe just curiosity. Is there some reason you think someone needs a particular level of activity to be successful at RfA? Is there some harm in someone having the bit and not being up to a certain level of activity? I mean, obviously if someone doesn't use it for years that's a problem, but I hope it's clear I'm not in that basket. You don't seem to give any reason other than, to paraphrase, "Other RfA candidates are more active."
I'm not here to try to change your mind; I'm just curious. GoldenRing (talk) 11:04, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hello, GoldenRing - you have every right to ask why I !voted as such. My main reasoning is that I think administrators should have significant experience, and more often than not, this can be seen within a user's edit count. Your current edit count is > 2,000 at the moment, and I simply feel as if administrator candidates should have significantly more edits (anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 for people with a main focus on articles or tagging and even more for those whose main focus is on anti-vandalism as they, myself included in this category, often use Twinkle and/or Huggle).
- Obviously, if an editor had < 8,000 edits but appeared to be sufficiently experienced then this would affect my !vote, as this "rule" I follow isn't at all set in stone. But, I accumulated more edits than this purely in the space of last year (and whilst I'm fully aware that the vast majority of my edits are automated, AV is of course my main focus). Please don't take my oppose !vote to heart or let it discourage you, it is purely based on my belief that people like you that wish to become administrators simply need more experience. Like I said, if I see an improvement come your next RFA, I would support. If you do pass, I am certain you will not let the community down. I also appreciate the graceful and honest manner in which you answered the questions asked at your RFA, and I did not allow this to go unnoticed. I hope I have made myself a little bit clearer here; if you would like me to do so, I can link to this diff within my !vote as "further reasoning". Once again, please do not be discouraged by this. I do wish you the very best of luck within your RFA. Take care, Patient Zerotalk 08:49, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

In a recent edit to the page Emmanuel Macron, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.
For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to India, use Indian English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. AusLondonder (talk) 00:02, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
- AusLondonder: the French use the British English spellings though. It needs changing back, as French is where we get our British English spellings from. Also Eurozone should be capitalised - you can't tell from a spoken quote whether or not someone wants something capitalised or not, and as Eurozone is how it should be written, you shouldn't be changing it. Patient Zerotalk 08:23, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
- No, the French use the French language. France has no strong national ties. WP:RETAIN has precedence here. AusLondonder (talk) 13:23, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

- Of course they do. British English is the official English code in the European Union. And American spellings are decidedly odd in an article on a French subject because of the orthographic similarities between BritEng and French, as I explained on my talk page. Just to let you know Patient Zero, you have violated WP:RETAIN which states clearly "When an English variety's consistent usage has been established in an article, maintain it in the absence of consensus to the contrary. With few exceptions (e.g., when a topic has strong national ties or a term/spelling carries less ambiguity), there is no valid reason for such a change...An article should not be edited or renamed simply to switch from one variety of English to another". AusLondonder (talk) 00:41, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4
Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 806 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

The proposal was broadly supported, with further discussion required regarding what to do with the existing LTA database and defining access requirements. Such a tool/database formed part of the Community health initiative's successful grant proposal.
- Some clarifications have been made to the community banning and unblocking policies that effectively sync them with current practice. Specifically, the community has reached a consensus that when blocking a user at WP:AN or WP:ANI, it is considered a "community sanction", and administrators cannot unblock unilaterally if the user has not successfully appealed the sanction to the community.
- An RfC regarding the bot policy has closed with changes to the section describing restrictions on cosmetic changes.
