Infobox photos

[edit]

Hi, I've seen you've been adding images to infoboxes (thank you!), but I wanted to let you know you should only include the filename, not using an Image or File template as you did at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Marco_Jansen&diff=prev&oldid=1150299957&diffmode=source. Please see WP:IBI for details. Thanks. -Kj cheetham (talk) 11:00, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Thank you. Will edit that for others Parzival22 (talk) 11:11, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why should we not change usage of Batsman to Batter for active cricketers at least?

[edit]

Was there a general consensus before? Parzival22 (talk) 02:35, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You must discuss this on the article talk page. Do not term an edit you disagree with "vandalism", which has a specific meaning, an attempt to deface an article. Edits you disagree with are not defacement. 331dot (talk) 10:14, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Parzival22 (talk) 10:16, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there was a general consensus. At the cricket wiki project some time ago (by which I mean a few years probably) there were discussions about this. The consensus was that we would leave anything which consistently discussed someone as a batsman in place, although we would be fine about using batter going forward for new articles, where use wasn't consistent already (by which I mean, at that point, not articles were an inconsistent use has since been introduced) or, obviously, in women's cricket where batswoman had sometimes been used previously. The discussion would probably have taken place about the time Wisden and CricInfo changed their standard usage, so not all that long ago. Blue Square Thing (talk) 10:21, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
