278 Medium Regiment
[edit]Regarding your creation of the pages 278 Medium Regiment and 278 Field Regiment. It is not uncommon for military units to change names. A new article need not be created. You can rename the article (Please check Template:Renaming at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Renaming). This preserves the page's edit history.
Thanks Akk7a (talk) 04:29, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings !!! Appreciate your erudite observation. Being not a professional, I'm learning the nuances.
- Learnt of renaming option.
- For now, wish to retain the 278 Medium regiment as it is. Shall remove the 278 Field regiment (if that is allowed). Else you may purge the 'Field regiment page' if that be allowed in your credentials.
- Thanks a lot & have a great time. Panchapakesan.iyer (talk) 10:11, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- I've deleted the article 278 Field Regiment, and created a redirect under that name to 278 Medium Regiment. Since nobody except you had eduted the first article there is no problem. However, for future reference, if anyone else has made contributions to an article it is very important not to just copy its content and paste it to another article, because doing so loses the editing history, which must be kept to comply with Wikipedia's copyright licensing terms. - By the way, do you have a personal connection to thexregiment? JBW (talk) 16:29, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
- Just wanted to check on the image of the 155/45 mm Dhanush Gun System. The link of the parade mentions 286 Medium Regiment and not 278. [1]
- Akk7a (talk) 11:55, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- Please consider deleting the image as it represents 286 Medium Regiment (India) and not 278. Akk7a (talk) 11:24, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hi Panchapakesan.iyer. Thank you for your work on 278 Medium Regiment. Another editor, MPGuy2824, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Refs 3 and 4 do no talk about regiment 278. Ref 9 does not mention "Jemsboy" or 278.

- Thanks for all admins' observations. The dynamics on ground are different & constrained.. :)
- Some of the link's content itself got updated/modified hence may not show relevant. I need to mention as seen on specific time.
- As it is an evolving page, some changes as suggested by you shall be effected. I'm mindful that the content has to be as reliable and shall be conformed. I'd cleared stated that it is developing page. Hope clear info on WIP gets considered.
- Have a great time. Panchapakesan.iyer (talk) 03:42, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
