feedback on Donation's pages

[edit]

Hi Osy!

My name is Patricia and I work at the WMF on the Fundraising department. We are trying to gather as much information as we can per country so that we can provide a great user experience for our donors in 2012. It would be great if you could help us reviewing a few pieces of our donation forms for us :)

1. For example, the address fields for the credit card option. Does the format of the fields below match the way you normally write your address in Ghana?

Surname: Name:
Address/PO Box:
City:
Country:
Email:

2. Would you allow us to send you a little survey with more questions related to Ghana. These are cultural questions that anyone who lives or know Ghana culture can answer :)

Thanks for letting me know and thanks in advance for your help!! Cheers, Ppena (WMF) (talk) 02:28, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS

[edit]

I see a tag on File:.Accra Aca Alumni registration (80th anniversary home-coming).jpg indicating that an email has been sent to OTRS, but I searched and could not find it. I don't know who sent it, so I can't search on sender, but I searched for "Accra Aca" and did not find it. If you can tell me more about the email, such as the subject line, I can search again.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:48, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Edward Doe Adjaho.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Edward Doe Adjaho.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:30, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Ebenezer Ako-Adjei.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ebenezer Ako-Adjei.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:09, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of senior secondary schools in Ghana, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Public school (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Replaceable fair use File:Peter Ala Adjetey.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Peter Ala Adjetey.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

deOrphaning script

[edit]

Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.

What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Opted-out of message delivery to your user talk page.

Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong entertainment personality?

The reference in connection is inaccurate.Iwan also never attended,he attended Accra high, a mistake was made by the article in reference. He even has a Wikipedia page on him stating that. Your contributed article, Dennis Nana Dwamena

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Dennis Nana Dwamena. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – KiDi (musician). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at KiDi (musician). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. AR.Dmg (talk) 01:57, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

List of alumni of the Accra Academy

[edit]

@Osy,hello the reasons for your recent edit on this page is not clear. It only looks like a deliberate effort to retard progress being made on a page. I will ask you to desist from those actions of your which can attract a potential ban from editing Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is a free knowledge source which is to be backed by citations when inclusions are made. If you however, think an edit of a user was not fair to you,you can draw the attention of that user by making mention on his talk page.

I appreciate your edits on the above subject and I believe there is more you could do positively. This said,if your actions of which I have pointed out continues,I will have to refer the issue to ArbCom.Ataavi(Ataavi(talk) 10:36 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Ataavi, cease and desist from adding unsourced, unverifiable and misleading content to the List of alumni of the Accra Academy with immediate effect. Before using Wikis verify that the article you are referencing has cited the subject matter for which you are referring it. Do this at all times before adding content to the aforementioned article or that content will be removed. Refer to Wikipedia's verifiability guidelines for further information. Hi (Kinvidia), refer to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/InternetArchiveBot or Wayback Machine. Lets abide by the same standard of quality contributions we expect from others. Thanks. Osy (talk) 18:54, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello (Kinvidia), thanks for all your contributions to the article thus far. I did not notice at first glance that you were the person commenting about the removed citations. My tone would have been less formal. I apologise for accidentally removing some of your properly cited contributions this morning. Osy (talk) 18:54, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(Kinvidia), with the exception of the two names which I removed on grounds of verifiability, you may, if you so decide, add back content which you personally included to the article and I will maintain them on grounds of good faith. Osy (talk) 18:54, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Osy, I am deeply sorry for the unfair treatment I rendered edits of yours. The initial removal edit I made failed to assume good faith on your part and to act so in a manner towards it. In the end all what the three of us Kinvidia, Osy and I(Ataavi) want is to see a good page for the subject matter. In the future,I will treat with courtesy any new entrant to working on the subject matter and will at present continue to maintain the high standards for which we are agreeing today.Ataavi
Ataavi, you are doing a great job. Keep it up. Osy (talk) 18:54, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I speak for us all (Ataavi and myself) when I say apology accepted Osy, we all have the best interest of the page at heart and thank you for understanding. Kinvidia (talk) 09:33, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
