Information icon I noticed that you added a bare URL as a reference in the article Dune: Prophecy, as seen here. Bare URLs are uninformative and vulnerable to link rot. Please convert it to a full citation to ensure the article remains verifiable and maintains a consistent citation style. If you need help, see introduction to referencing. ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:55, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In this edit, you restored an earlier plot synopsis that just copied the film's studio's promotional blurb. We try to avoid promotion here at Wikipedia, which is why I had removed that in the first place. Can you explain why you prefer the studio's promotion over the more neutral synopsis? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:35, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I found the new version messy to read and too extensive, more of a synopsis it felt like an incomplete plot of the film with incoherent order and data . Also, no sources were given to the plot it described. It just didn't obbey the standard of what a Wikipedia synopsis is expeted to be like. Maybe we should get the arbitration comittee? Or I could trim down the current version if souces are given to the origin of it. Nils2088 (talk) 21:08, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the ArbCom needs to be alerted. This is a simple content dispute. I don't think plot summaries need sourcing; the film itself is the source for the plot. We can certainly trim it down and clean it up, but we should certainly not use the studio's own promotion as article content. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:28, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, however the film has only screened for press, official release in the US is on the 25th. There's no way to prove the synopsis is accurate. I do agree that we shouldn't use the studio's own marketing, but whatever premise we use should be from a trustworthy source. Maybe the trades have something. I'll look for something there and I'll let you know what I've found. Nils2088 (talk) 22:41, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That being the case, I recommend removing the section entirely until the film has been released. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:07, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
