Japan-Korea Undersea Tunnel
Hi NihonJoe 日本穣: Regarding your comment on the talk page concerning societal difficulties involved with the proposed tunnel: many western people, even those who have studied some world history, have scant knowledge of the occupation of Korea. Although I knew previously that Japan had occupied Korea during WWII, until I researched this tunnel article I never knew that Korea had been occupied as early as 1910. Thus it was felt necessary during article creation to have some background info on societal relations between the two countries to explain possible delays or cancellation of the project, as most Westerners wouldn't be cognizant of them.
May I ask a favour please NihonJoe? Since I don't have access to current information on new developments related to the proposed tunnel, and since there's significantly more information on the same article on the Japanese website, I'd appreciate if you could translate the updated and enhanced material from the Japanese article to the English one. Many thanks if you can help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Harryzilber (talk • contribs) 20:36, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Bōken Shōnen cover.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Bōken Shōnen cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:08, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

When is this category going to be filled? - Stepheng3 (talk) 19:36, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- When we create a manga article for a series begun in 1954. It's possible we already have one that just isn't yet categorized. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:40, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- In the future, I think you should create the article first, then the category. Since categories are used for navigation, having a category leads users to expect that there must be articles in it. - Stepheng3 (talk) 21:02, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- Unless they are actually browsing categories (which is not a common thing to do for most people), I don't see an issue here. Articles are being created as quickly as possible, and this will have something in it eventually, so don't worry about it. WP:ANIME does a great job of keeping things organized. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:07, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- WP:CSD#C1 doesn't make an exemption for categories anticipated to contain pages in the future (as well it shouldn't). Please populate this category or it will risk being deleted again as C1. Thanks, VegaDark (talk) 22:55, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- Please stop insisting on a timeline for completion. It's being populated as quickly as possible, as I've already stated. Please go do something useful rather than harass people doing the work. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:39, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- The very nature of the C1 speedy criteria is to give a timeline so empty categories can't sit around unused indefinitely. If you disagree with that, perhaps you should propose a change to the speedy deletion criteria. Until then, it is Wikipedia policy we have to abide by (I see it has now been populated, so the issue is, happily, now moot). VegaDark (talk) 03:43, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- They aren't sitting around unused indefinitely. All four of those categories were part of a much larger set which has been being filled as quickly as possible (out of over 60 cats, only those four were remaining to be populated with at least one title--pretty good, I would say). Given the many thousands of manga articles here, it takes a little bit of time to file in the categories, and it's much easier to create the set of categories first, and then fill them (it makes the process of creating the categories much easier). And yes, because of your unnecessary (because the issue was already being handled) pressure to adhere to your personal timeline (and that of Stepheng3), the cats have now been populated. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 04:13, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I don't want this to end leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth, I actually empathise with your position. The problem is that if we let one empty category stay, why not the next? It's a slippery slope to start allowing some but not others. We could say "Yeah, he's an admin, so he probably knows what he's doing, and he's probably right that it will in fact be populated in the future", but then the next guy will come along and claim that their category is also going to be populated eventually, and so on and so forth. Eventually the criteria would be degraded to "Empty categories that have been empty for 4 days, unless someone insists that the category will in fact someday be populated." I think the problems with that are obvious, and I hope that leaves you with a better understanding of why I and people like Stepheng3 try to enforce this criteria. While this category is an example of one more likely to be populated, for each one like this there are dozens of others that have been empty for very long periods of time that have only recently been deleted. Readers happening upon such categories may be confused, which is the whole central reason for this speedy criteria in the first place. Thanks again, VegaDark (talk) 05:31, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I understand your POV, but I think you are wrong in this case. As you can see by all the other categories surrounding the four in question here, they are being filled, some more quickly than others. It's not as if this category is all by itself with no other related categories. In fact, as it's obviously part of a series of categories (sorted by year), that makes it even more likely to be used. This is a case, IMO, where WP:IAR applies. Yes, there's a general guideline in the policy to delete unused categories, but you shouldn't turn into a mindless robot when applying these guidelines. Use some common sense. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:45, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with Nihonjoe here, even policy requires common sense in its application, and this is a case where common sense suggests ignoring policy. That being said, if Joe were to tell you that the category will be filled (as he did), and a month or so from now, it was still sitting there, empty, then that would likely be a problem. —Dinoguy1000 20:28, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, the category has been on this list of empty categories and every subsequent update (except the most recent) since the report was created on October 20th, which is quite a long time to wait. See here. This category is by no means unique as a "by year" category or as a category as part of a series. Common sense here, in fact, tends to show that this one is no different than the hundreds of other categories that appear on that list. VegaDark (talk) 03:42, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, then. There were only ever 5 categories from this series on that list, and now there should be none as none of the cats are now empty, so please, go do something more productive with your time. If you can't see the difference between those "hundreds of other categories that appear on that list" and these five categories, then I can't help you. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 03:54, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
While i understand your position on the infobox (fellowing WP:album), i should also inform you that in the long run that Aria (manga) audio franchise will eventually spin-out as a discography and should borrow a lot from WP:Discog.
We are in muddy water as neither WP:album nor WP:Discog can completely satisfy the specifics need of anime franchise related audio soundtracks including oddities likes Drama CDs & Radio CDs.
In the end don't be too surprise on how the Aria discography will spin-out, it will be a bit experimental --KrebMarkt 09:33, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

I'll check back in a few days. Thank-you for what ever direction you can provide. Eventaully I'll get to the point where I can add my self to the the projects.
P.S. I can read kana, and recognize a few kanji.--Sheshed (talk) 00:46, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- I recommend starting out by reading this, remembering there is useful information here, and making yourself familiar with these. It's a little bit of work, but it will help you in the long run to at least be familiar with those things. Once you're done with that, I recommend becoming familiar with both WP:MOS-JA and WP:MOS-AM as those are the most relevant Manuals of Style when editing anime and manga articles here.
- Then, look at the articles listed here as those are the ones the project has noted as needing help in one way or another. Welcome! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 05:41, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank-you Nihonjoe.
- Let me poke around the links listed and see about editing a page or two this weekend.

Comment
I invite no action or comment but I wonder if it might be worthwhile for you to examine what I have posted as a "comment" at User talk:Tznkai#Note on the topic bans (Caspain Blue and Sennen goroshi)? Plausibly useful? --Tenmei (talk) 22:30, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of that topic ban. Where is the RFCU that led to it? ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 02:16, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Caveat lector at [12] and [13]. Cui bono? --Tenmei (talk) 04:18, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't say I was going to comment there or take any action, so there's no reason to emphasize your first sentence. I merely asked where the discussion was. I'll be glad, however, if this silly battle is put to rest. I think both of them should be banned for good from those respective topics as they have shown little self-control and no attempt at being unbiased when it comes to these things. They also tend to accuse anyone who disagrees with them of being anti-Japanese or anti-Korean (depending on which one it is). The whole situation has spiraled way out of control, IMO. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 06:10, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I am prepared to invest in figuring out a way to begin mitigating the problem you identify in the last two sentences. The question becomes, "How best simply to nudge a Gordian Knot of toxic issues in an arguably constructive direction?" This attempt to introduce a modest "comment" into the process was a small step in an arguably constructive direction. --Tenmei (talk) 16:56, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Can't help you there. I've tried many times to solve that issue, but when some or all of those involved refuse to cooperate or compromise, it make it near impossible to come to a solution. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:57, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
