Opinions
[edit]In this series of edits to DT Eightron, you added what appears to be your own personal opinion or analysis of this particular topic. Wikipedia is not the place for this. You may report on analyses that have been published in reliable sources, but you may not add your own analysis. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:59, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry WikiDan, I am simply doing this for a school assignment. Furthermore, this analyses has nothing to do with my personal opinion. If you would like, I can tell you when I receive my grade for this assignment so you can take it down. NickWadley26 (talk) 20:06, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- School assignment or not, all material on Wikipedia must conform to Wikipedia guidelines, and that includes the addition of unsourced analysis. Your personal analysis of the working conditions of Japanese manga animators, and how that is reflected in the themes of the show, are original research, and are disallowed at Wikipedia. You may need to seek guidance from your teacher or professor on how to proceed without violating Wikipedia guidelines. For example, if you can cite a published analysis of DT Eightron that comes to the conclusion you are trying to add, you may reference that analysis, and indicate that the analysis is the work of one particular author or set of authors (i.e. the analysis cannot be spoken in Wikipedia's voice). You can say
John Smith has found the themes of DT Eightron reminiscent of the working conditions of the Japanese animators themselves
(as long as you can cite that analysis), but you cannot say The themes of DT Eightron are reminiscent of the working conditions of the Japanese animators. Do you see the subtle difference there? If, however, it is your own analysis that leads you to this conclusion, unless you have published this analysis in a reliable source, it has no place on Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:37, 4 April 2023 (UTC)- I do have a source that talks about the working conditions of Japanese animators and compared it to the description on Wikipedia. Therefore, I am comparing a reliable source to what has already been approved by the website itself NickWadley26 (talk) 21:05, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- I really have to ask you to stop, at risk of getting blocked. Yes, the New York Times article does describe hardhips faced by Japanese animators, but it does not then claim that DT Eightron is illustrative of that or a reaction to those hardships. That part (which is the critical part of the analysis) is your own conclusion. I've also removed the "Globalization" section, since that has nothing at all to do with DT Eightron (but might, if properly sourced, be useful at the Anime article). [edit]Hello, I'm Philipnelson99. I noticed that you made a change to an article, DT Eightron, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Philipnelson99 (talk) 21:46, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

- Nick:
- https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2186 is user-generated content, and so is not considered a reliable source.
- https://gamerant.com/best-anime-set-22nd-century/#dt-eightron is a blogging/listicle site. Not likely to be considered a reliable source, and nothing there verifies your thesis.
- https://saalck-uky.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/fulldisplay?docid=cdi_proquest_reports_233760176&context=PC&vid=01SAA_UKY:UKY&lang=en&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&adaptor=Primo%20Central&tab=Everything&query=any,contains,dt%20eightron&offset=0 looks to be a legitimate source for the information it contains, but again, it says nothing of your thesis about DT Eightron being some metaphor for the suffering of Japanese animators.
- https://9animetv.to/watch/dt-eightron-6541?ep=92362 is an actual video of a DT Eightron episode. You may use that to verify the content of the episode, but not as a source for any conclusions you choose to draw about the episode.
- I hope this helps. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 23:39, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks @WikiDan61, appreciate you taking the time to review. Philipnelson99 (talk) 01:43, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- Nick:
This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at DT Eightron, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Bbb23 (talk) 22:57, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I was going to use the third link to talk about how DT Eightron was used to appeal to a bigger audience! I was also going to use the video to describe an episode of the anime!
- I have come up with two mo links that I think are reliable sources:
- https://archive.org/details/dteightronost (give users the ability to listen to the soundtrack, website from my college's database)
- https://www.fujitv.com/contents/ (Official site of Bandai Namco Filmworks (aka Sunrise); I want to use this article to list their other works since Sunrise's are also mentioned).
- Thank you! NickWadley26 (talk) 00:51, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- Neither of those would substantiate the sweeping claims you made in your edits earlier. Philipnelson99 (talk) 01:43, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- I completely understand that! I was thinking about using those websites for completely different purposes than for the edits I made earlier. NickWadley26 (talk) 02:11, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- I'm also disregarding the earlier claims I made NickWadley26 (talk) 02:12, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
