Welcome!
Welcome to Wikipedia, Newbiepedian! I am Cirt and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Your recent edits
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 15:11, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi, welcome and thanks!
Hi there Newbiepedian! Welcome to Wikipedia - I see you're already working hard! A big thanks for the barnstar you awarded me - I'm just doing my job here! Just to let you know, your little talk bubble is linking to the image, rather than your talk page. I was also wondering if you minded me copying your idea with that bubble? Keep up the good work! Problem
This user User talk:90.210.193.181 had vandalized another page Here The problem is you gave this editor a "final Warning" for their "First" warning, How can I report this editor to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism when "we" did not give proper and timely warnings. Don't get me wrong I have a hard time not giving a "last warning" to "Idiot Vandals" and be done with it, but that's not how it's done. I have given you the links if you want too act on them , Please do but I can't report this with this type of "ammo" Mlpearc MESSAGE 15:42, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
No problem we all our learning to do, but this one's in your court. I will tell you what I would do, I would "strike" the warning and re-issue a more proper one. I would also ask someone else for thier opinion, I'm not that great at this either. Mlpearc MESSAGE 16:00, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the clairifation, and now I know I completely wasted my time thnx, and good luck Mlpearc MESSAGE 16:06, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Scientology-related terms list
Regarding User:Newbiepedian/wip/Glossary of Scientology related terms, Wikipedia's naming conventions when this article is finished and moved to mainspace would make this article "List of Scientology-related terms". Thus before you get too far along, you may wish to make that adjustment. SchuminWeb (Talk) 19:24, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Your award
I moved your barnstar here to prevent Barnstaritis, in both myself and other people. Thanks for giving it to me! --I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 20:58, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I have not vandalised anything, whats up with that. 24.77.173.236 (talk) 21:08, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
I just got kind of pissed off because they vandalised Wikipedia first, it wasn't worth the whole big warning that you would block me. 24.77.173.236 (talk) 21:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about that. 24.77.173.236 (talk) 21:12, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Alphonse Royer
A tag has been placed on Alphonse Royer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. (Cheers! Want Anything? Chatty?)babylarm 23:37, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
The article Amateur Radio (magazine) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No indication of notability
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Burpelson AFB (talk) 23:49, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Articles
Hi there and thank you for your contributions. When creating very short articles as you've been doing, please include at least one reference to establish notability. The following policies may be helpful: WP:N and WP:RS. Thank you! Burpelson AFB (talk) 23:52, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Also, it may be easier for you to start articles in your userspace, and when you've expanded them and added some references, you can move it to article space. This will prevent them from being tagged for speedy deletion or something like that. Burpelson AFB (talk) 23:53, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- As reviewing administrator, I stopped at least one of your article from deletion by simply adding the ref that was in the French WP . You translated only the first line, and this is not a good idea here. If you do this, at least copy over the references, and add the template {{Expand French}} to the article, even if you intend to finish it yourself. Do not assume that everyone at this WP will use common sense enough to check. Where there is really a problem, is the articles from the frWP that have no references there, a situation they seem to tolerate. For these, you've got to get one yourself from the start. Stubs
Oh, we have lots of unsourced stubs like that one. :-) I think most of them exist from years ago before people began really noticing them and being more outspoken about providing sources. Truth be told, you could probably get away with creating more unsourced stubs depending on when you actually write them, but we're trying to reduce the number of them. Thank you for your note and hope you understand. We definitely appreciate your contributions! Burpelson AFB (talk) 23:29, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Deletion nomination of File:Dialog-error-round.svg
Hi Newbiepedian, this is a message from an automated bot, regarding File:Dialog-error-round.svg. You blanked the page and, since you are its sole author, FrescoBot has interpreted it as a request for deletion of the page and asked administrators to satisfy the requests per speedy deletion criterion G7. Next time you want a page that you've created deleted, you can explicitly request the deletion by inserting the text {{db-author}}
. If you didn't want the page deleted, please remove the {{db-author}}
tag from the page and undo your blanking or put some content in the page. Admins are able to recover deleted pages. Please do not contact the bot operator for issues not related with bot's behaviour. To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=FrescoBot}}
somewhere on your talk page. -- FrescoBot (msg) 01:01, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Amateur Radio (magazine), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mlpearc MESSAGE 07:20, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

A note on signatures
I noticed your signature at WP:VPP#WikiPol, a.k.a. WikiPolice, Wikipedian Police Forces has an image in it, which is disallowed by WP:SIGN#Images. --Izno (talk) 19:34, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- WP:IAR doesn't work like that. The page alone should explain it: "If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it" (emphasis mine). The essays linked from IAR should further explain why your use of it here is in poor form. --Izno (talk) 19:39, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- I would ask then that you take your case to WT:SIGN. The essays linked from IAR also suggest that if a rule is one that is poor, then it should be changed. I'm not the one you should be trying to lawyer your way out with, nor am I the only one who will notice this. It will come again until either a) you change your signature or b) the rule changes (the likelihood of the rule changing I see to be much less likely, but those are the two outcomes here). And if you don't take it to WT:SIGN, I think I just might (and yes, I'll reference you. ;). --Izno (talk) 20:16, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- It's inherent that if you want to ignore the rules (and cite IAR to boot), then it's probable that you dislike them. If you dislike them, the logical progression is then that you should work to change them, not to be told "you're in violation" only to say "no, no, that isn't the case" (when it clearly is against the rule [even if you have an argument against it]). /shrug. --Izno (talk) 20:29, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- Awfully big plate for a three-dayer (don't burn out!). You wouldn't have objection to removing the image from your signature until such time that you wish to challenge the rule? It saves you grief until such time as you wish it (which appears to be a time other than this). --Izno (talk) 21:00, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- You could, but I wouldn't until after I had successfully changed the rules (you might be seen as being pointy). That choice, however, would be at your discretion. --Izno (talk) 21:09, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- Well, one would go about contesting a rule by first a) browsing the talk page (WT:SIGN) and its archives to see if any recent conversations (any conversation at all!) have occurred regarding images in signatures. Afterwhich, you would open a new section. It would be be wise to present a hypothetical person and image (or the one you used, if you wish) in order to open a discussion, with the points you brought forth. As for your book, no thank you. --Izno (talk) 21:33, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- Please remove the image from your signature for now, at least. One must abide by the policies until after they are changed. fetchcomms☛ 02:35, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Recent AfDs
Hi Newbiepedian. Do remember that any new unreferenced article or items in articles in this encyclopedia can be deleted immediately, hence the reason why we should only create reasonably complete pages. However, Mlpearc was possibly not aware that articles about Human settlements, even stubs, are de facto notable, and provided that their name appears on an official map and are not, for example, just a plot of land on someone's farm, a stub could be created without references. To be sure that your new article will not be proposed for deletion, in future when creating such stubs, you can help by using the required format by including all the basic information such as an infobox, geo locations (for settlements), and relevant Wikipedia categories. Do check out Callow End to see how a typical settlement stub should look, and don't hesitate to ask me for any help. Happy editing :) --Kudpung (talk) 06:59, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Image in your signature: block
You have been blocked from editing for violating Wikipedia policy, by using an image in your signature. Images must not be used in signatures (see Wikipedia:Signatures#Images). You are blocked until you change your preferences to not include an image in your signature, when you can place an unblock request here.. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by replying here on your talk page by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}}. You may also email the blocking administrator or any administrator from this list instead, or mail unblock-en-l@mail.wikimedia.org. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 18:11, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- Please note that although Wikipedia:Signature is a guideline rather than a policy, the section about using images in your signature does not say Images should not be used but Images must not be used, for the reasons given at that page. To be unblocked, please change your preferences so that your signature does not include an image, and then post an unblock request here, signing using your signature. Your signature is the only reason for this block. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 18:41, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- I did so two days ago... ...what was this for??--Newbiepedian (Hailing Frequencies) 19:07, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

- My apologies - obviously, I can't see your preferences, and the last time you used your signature was 2 days ago and as I didn't see anything which said that you had changed your signature (you haven't used your signature since that edit), I thought it had not been sorted out (since you were talking about IAR etc). I assumed that you hadn't - again, I apologise for the block. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 20:05, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- Of course, I understand, no problem :)--Newbiepedian (Hailing Frequencies) 20:17, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
