Hi Natbrock, I don't know exactly what kind of experiment you are part of. But it is not a good idea to directly experiment with Wikipedia portals, like you are doing with the Portal:Computer graphics today. These portals usually get a lot of traffic each moment. Now I like to know your intentions here. Or maybe I should talk to your advisor about this? -- Mdd (talk) 13:50, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, I am doing a university project on Machinima. I was trying to add a new article but it didnt seem to work, I'm sorry if I caused any problems on the page. Natbrock (talk) 16:08, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, please get some help from the Wikipedia:Help desk or your university-teacher and don't edit the Portal:Computer graphics any more... until your clear what to do. But even then the best thing to do is, to first propose the changes you want to make on the talk-page first. - Mdd (talk) 16:48, 13 February 2013 (UTC) / 22:30, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
- Indeed! Experienced editor Mdd has given you some excellent advice. Understanding how Portals work on Wikipedia is essential before you actually tinker with any portal page directly. The talk page for the portal is the best way in. --ToniSant (talk) 11:53, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Hey Nat , just been looking through the Portal:Computer graphics bearing in mind its a portal page have you looked through the links at the bottom in the Categories section, if you click on the 3D computer graphics it brings you to a a categories page for 3d computer graphics , which it has a link to machinima page. Didn't know if you have explore these links, so i thought id mention it. --Tasha.Bluck (talk) 14:38, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks yea I did, I created the Selected Article for Machinima on the portal page Natbrock (talk) 21:25, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Machinima
[edit]Hi Nat, I see that your going to edit pages on Machinima. I think Machinma will also be very important to the area of computer graphics, maybe some time we can have a talk about machinima that would be great, I have also been looking in to this area last year, would love to help you out. Diagrams on EVT
[edit]Hey Nat.
- Just a quick note to say that I've noticed that you're also considering doing a diagram for the EVT page and I just wanted to make sure that we're not both trying to do the same thing. What exactly are you considering doing a diagram of? I was going to outline the different proxemic zones, and so if you're doing something else entirely then that's no issue.
--RStoakes (talk) 12:21, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Heya yea I was going to outline the zones and use examples to illustrate the zones
--Natalie Brocklesby (talk) 15:31 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Oh dear. That puts us in a bit of a sticky situation. You haven't possibly gotten any other ideas for diagrams either for you or for me to do? Seems a bit redundant for both of us to do the same thing.
--RStoakes (talk) 15:40, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Nope, this is hard I don't know what to do now, I didn't think anyone else but our group would have picked this page, who you working with?
--Natalie Brocklesby (talk) 15:40 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- At the moment, no one. Pretty much everyone on EVT is in one group and I don't think there's anyone else doing it who ISN'T in your group, though I might double-check. But yeah, not sure what else there is to make a diagram for with EVT.
- -EDIT- I'm not sure if this would be a problem or not, it's the kind of thing that I'd need to ask your team and Darren about, but one idea could be that one of us makes the diagram and uploads it to the Commons, and then the other one actually puts it in the article and writes the caption for it. After all, given that the communication and engagement count for more than the actual work it might show collaboration and blah blah blah. Again, kind of shady on whether or not that's ok, obviously if your team's full and you don't want someone else jumping in out the blue that's fine, it's just an option. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RStoakes (talk • contribs) 15:58, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
--RStoakes (talk) 15:40, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- Yea there is 5 in our group, Irina, Tom, Danielle, Alicia and me, I thought you had to be in a group for the presentation, isn't there any other pages you could do a diagram for? and maybe you will find a group to go with aswell? I have already started the diagram now and our group has started editing this page, and like you said it is pointless for two people doing the same thing
--Natalie Brocklesby (talk) 15:57 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Which session are you in tomorrow? We could talk about it then if you want? We are in the morning one --Natalie Brocklesby (talk) 16:07 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know. Again, not in a group, didn't really expect that many people to have started given the games deadline a week on Monday and other stuff. I'm happy to shop around for other ideas for diagrams, you're already sorted out with a group and stuff so it'd be rude for me to stumble in and ask to do the exact same thing as you. As far as I'm aware, you and one other group are the only ones who've sorted themselves out yet, so at least I'm not completely behind yet.
--RStoakes (talk) 16:29, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- I no game essay is in a week on monday, but the presentation for this is the day after that, I can see that marina and stefan are doing this theory too maybe you could work with them, i would let you be in our group but i think 5 is max. If you decide to still do this theory and the diagram thing, what you said before could work. Just let me know what you want to do then we don't clash, Sorry to cause problems, we will work something out

Group Presentation
[edit]Hi, we doing the diagram together, wanna meet up next week to fully design the diagram to have it ready for the next meeting?? -- Aliciaag93 (talk) 09:48, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- that sounds good to me :D Are you free on Tuesday? Natbrock (talk) 09:49, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Diagram
[edit]I have put some links on to my sandbox if you want to check them out, I will also find some information about the four sections before the meeting so that we can put information to the diagram whilst designing it and hopefully have it done before our meeting. -- Alicia's sandbox -- Aliciaag93 (talk) 10:02, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Do you want me to mention the Japanese example in the core concept introduction bit as well? --TomFirth19 (talk) 11:45, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mention the Japanese culture because that's an example of different cultures, but maybe just an overall introduction about cultures and how they can differ, alicia is doing an introduction to cultures on our section and how European and English people act differently, but its up to you Tom, you could write something and then we could have a look together on Tuesday and see where it will go on the page :D Natbrock (talk) 13:13, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi Nat, would you like me to send you those screen shots I did of our work from Tuesday?? -- Aliciaag93 (talk) 09:36, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Outcome from the second meeting
[edit]Meeting on today for the group presentation, diagram and finishing off what each of us have to do individually on the wikipedia page. -- Aliciaag93 (talk) 11:22, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- We started planning the powerpoint to the guildlines on the module handbook, plus me, Alicia and Tom designed the diagram for Proxemics section in Photoshop and uploaded it to the wikimedia commons, then we tested the image on my user page Natbrock (talk) 14:10, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
