Welcome back from your break! — The King of Kings 15:23 July 09 '06

We both blocked at the same time - mine was indefinite, based on this post [1] which declares "We are member of the counter wikipedia unit". I've cleared the blocks with a one second block and reinstated my own indefinite one, to make sure they aren't conflicting. I hope that's OK with you. --Sam Blanning(talk) 13:47, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quote from User talk:HighwayCello

Hey HighwayCello,

Just stopping by to say hello, and I see that your stress level is beyond massive, and that you've gone on wikibreak for an indeterminite amount of time - that's no good at all! I'm very sorry that your stress has gotten that bad, I was hoping it would dissapate, but it seems not. Let me know if there's anything I can do, for now I'm off to list you at Esperanza Alerts so that you can have some more support. -- Natalya 13:05, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

I was looking over the Arbitration case for ILoveMinun, and I didn't realize that you've now been impersonated at least twice! User:.HighwayCello and User:HighwayCello', whoa. -- Natalya 13:17, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

RE: Poppingness

[edit]

Yay! Natalya popped me! How exciting!

Yes, I did go to Spain (near Jávea in fact - even nearer to Jesus Pobre but I doubt that has an article, being an ickle town not in the US) and yes, it was hot. Too hot. But we had a private pool in our villa - it was easily the poshest place I've ever stayed in. It even had a Grand Piano - how cool is that?

I hear you went to good old England - whereabouts did you stay? As you know, I live in Stroud, Gloucestershire and if you're thinking of coming back sometime, I recommend it big time - lovely part of the country. Plus, you could meet me :D.

Anyway, as to my Tirben userbox, I didn't realise anyone would notice. I joined a while ago (on its founding) but quickly forgot about it. The userbox seemed slightly out-of-date and irrelevant - plus, without it, it evens up the page. But, if you want me to put it back, just say the word. In fact, that applies to most things :P.

Good luck with the election result and kindest, warm regards, —Celestianpower háblame 23:10, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. I really hate cities of all kinds and avoid them at all costs, so I couldn't really comment objectively, but yes, Stroud is beautiful. Talk to Pschemp and she'll tell you ;). —Celestianpower háblame 11:52, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Apologies for the delay in replying, I've been busy. And tired. And busy.

I never knew I'd been impersonated! Thank you for telling me, I'm too dim to see the workshop page, I didn't think they had done anything yet, clearly they have. I decided to categorize the imposters, at Category:Imposters of HighwayCello, and I found another one! So I got dragged into a checkuser, and then I noticed User:Fang Aili was stressed, and Minun kept interrupting me.

I hope you're well, thanks for the message! Highway Batman! 16:32, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikibreak

[edit]

Hello Natalya. Thanks for the wishes - I will try and step back from the deletion backlogs and hope that someone other administrator - the two-day backlogs (around 1000-1500 images) that need to be cleared out on a regular basis is making me feel guilty and dispirited about my performance as an admin and obvious inability to fix anything. Anyway I hope things will improve, but now that User:Kimchi.sg (who is averaging 125+ deletes per day) is also needing a break, things will most likely get worse. This may explain my spree of three lengthy RfA noms (I guess the stakes are high so that I get some janitorial relief, as noted by other users), so I'm hoping you may consider supporting them - Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Grandmasterka, Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Srikeit 2 and Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Edgar181 - for my personal relief at least. I'm still patrolling certain unpatrolled parts of wikipedia for unregulated personal attacks and enforcing blocks, including a four-way religious & personal attack dispute which you can read about at the bottom of my talk page - which is why I've started a survey at the top of my page to see if people identify with any religious bias - you may want to leave a comment if you notice anything (or not) about my relgious outlook. how do you get the green "a" in your signature?

[edit]

Hello, could you please tell me how you (and many other Wikipedians) get various vowels to show up as green in their signatures? I've figured out the need for a subpage (e.g. [[User:Tachikoma/Esperanza]]), but I can't figure out the syntax of how you change the signature field in your preferences. I've tried various things from the help files, but I never get it to work right. I've been trying to get a green "o". Thanks.--Tachikoma 21:10, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I think I figured it out! Sorry to take up your time. --Tachikoma 21:27, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As for my changing signature, the earlier "Tachikoma" with the green "o" has been replaced by one with a green "a", because it seems easier to me to click on something at either end of a name than somewhere in the middle.
It took me a few tries getting this to work because I had been trying to figure it out from the WP help pages instead of looking at this page, which I only discovered later.
BTW, I never got the chance to congratulate you on your new position, so congratulations!--Tachikoma 18:44, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Natalya. Firstly, again thankyou for your support on the Srikeit and Edgar181 RfAs - the first has passed the century which is pleasing and will be closed by the time you read this, and the second is unanimous atm. Thanks for your support over the last few days. I am feeling better now and have started writing again. I made my first trip to New articles Australia for 53 days today (quite shocking isn't it), so it feels good to be back, and with the creation of Boy Charlton, David Theile and Malcolm Champion, the redlinks on Australian Olympic medalists in Swimming are now gone (after 7 months and 90+ articles). So hopefully I can get it ready for WP:FLC sometime. Many thanks again, and congratulations on your election to AG of Esperanza. Blnguyen | rant-line 08:12, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much Natalya, this means a lot to me (especially as it is my first barnstar ever!!). Thank you for your support as well, regarding my stress. I think that I can deal with most wikistress well, but I love Esperanza and everything that we stand for so much that it really gets to me sometimes. Right now I'm working on a little speech to get out everything I feel we are, as a group, and I hope that this will not only help Esperanza, but also me.

Anyway, I'm rambling a bit now, but thanks ever so much for your kindness. You are a wonderful person. Hugs, Thε Halo Θ 01:52, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Natalya, sorry to keep filling up this page. I just wanted to tell you that I'm not going to be contributing to the Esperanza talk page for awhile, as I think that doing so after all that has been said by me and other recently, would be detremental to what Esperanza is trying to achive - a stress free wiki. I've said everything that I feel needs to be said about Esperanza's current situation, so it won't hurt if I take sometime away and just get back to editing this place (of course, I'll still be trying to cheer stressed users up;). Thank you for all your recent support. I really does mean an aweful lot to know someone understands what I am saying.

Apologies and resignation

[edit]

Hello Natalya. Unfortunately, it seems that many are uncomfortable about my presence here, or that I may be trying to poison the atmosphere so I have decided to resign my membership here, as it seems best for the morale of the organisation and as I feel that it in no way hinders my ability to contribute to the encyclopedia or to award barnstars or to offer any advicee or personal experience to those who may wish to listen. Let me reiterate that I was never seeking official Esperanza sanctions to endorse anything I was doing, nor was I seeking to turn Esperanza into a Supreme Court. I was simply suggesting it as a personal suggestion for people to look out for each other out of their own free will and concerns. I'm sorry that it has been interpreted as though I am seeking to undermine ESP or to seek to seize control of it for my own vanity, to undermine your position as AG of AC or to recruit my own private wiki-militia for pushing my own POV. I don't want to make you or any other members feel uncomfortable in your role as AG/AC or to give you the impression that I might be attempting to undermine your position. I had already reached this decision as you can see by the my contrib list before I came to this post. Actually I had done so when I was walking home to the bus stop yesterday at around 9 UTC and didn't need Moreschi's post 12 hours ago to alight me to the unease that I had caused, as I had already noticed earlier. Thankyou and all the best for the future in your role leading Esperanza into the future. Blnguyen | rant-line 01:03, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Natalya, don't worry about it. I think it's the best for all of us, at least in the foreseeable future; perhaps my resignation made things even worse...Anyway, looks like I have serious problems to deal with. mail. Blnguyen | rant-line 04:42, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the kind notice, it reminds me that there are still many good users on Wikipedia that wish to contribute constructively rather than destroy the project. My dear Natalya, what can I say? You, and everyone else have been so kind with all these barnstar I am quite lost for words. Who can anyone feel stressed after so much niceness (Esperanzian theories put into action ;)

I want to thank you so much for all your support, and leadership, and friendship. I just don't know what I would do without friends like you and everyone else on my talk page, and I'm going to take myself off the stress list after this.

Just a quick note on the Esperanza talk, because I don't want to bring this thread down. I'm really sorry for what's happen, as I feel responsable for what's happened there. I'm really sorry for any trouble I've caused Esperanza and that I caused you personally. Losing Blnguyen was terible for Esperanza, and I am deeply sorry for that.

How clueless could I be?

[edit]

Having looked over the talk pages of you, The Halo, and HighwayCello, I see some weirdness (the nasties, another might call it, as I saw on the Esperanza talk) that I never knew existed. It seems I've been editing in a bubble in Esperanza, never knowing what's going on in the rest of Wikipedia and what other Wikipedians think of Esperanzans and their our goals. When I realised that, I thought, What is going on here? Why are our POV views, etc. etc. disdained? I don't under stand what is happening. And with Blyungen leaving Esperanza, I thought, ????? All I want to know is what is happening with Esperanzans vs. Wikipedians and why other Esperanzans don't know about it.

And if all this is nonsense, please delete this from your talk page and do not reply. The one and only Cliff 00:42, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza ideas

[edit]

Hi, I have thought alot about the upcoming straw polls for changes to things in Esperanza. I would like to add some to the list; such as:

Should the Admin. Gen. and Council be able to ask individual questions to candidates? The idea behind this is very simple. When a candidate is running, he/she is added to a list of over 20 names! That is way too much. Asking questions will help 'voters' get a sense of the person. Another thing that would help make the election process clearer would be: The Council by 4/6 (two-thirds) vote can veto a candidate. This would allow the procedure to go down to candidates that actually have a chance. In the case that one 'vetoed' person feels that is was un-justified, can bring it to the Admin. Gen., who can ask the disicion to be unanimous. Just some ideas. Please consider.

Thanks, Wikizach

Thanks for your response. I looked through those examples, and they impressed me enough not to pile on another oppose, but not enough to support (all those other pile-on votes made me suspect there was far more to the candidate than Steel had found, but I'm still not quite comfortable). In a few months, with more improvement, I would probably support.--Kchase T 07:23, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey Natalya, thanks for checking up on me. Yes I'm stressed out (because of a user Harassing me, UCRGrad.) , it is a long drawn out story. Basicly I was involved in trying to settle a dispute that him and another editor got into with three or four other editors. The whole thing fell apart and an RfC got started (About 3 to 4 weeks ago). Latley UCRGrad has been harassing and doing borderling Wikistalking of me. (See User talk:Triddle, User talk:JakGd1, One of My Archives, User talk:Insert-Belltower) What almost set me off was the comment on both my user talk and Insert-Belltowers (I'm trying to make amends with Insert-Belltower since he feels my actions have wronged him). Reguards less of whatever (or even however they were taken) my past actions are now in the past and I have learned from them. I have tried not to feed the issue nor have I tried to provoke any issues with him (I tried to help them most editors would not even do that much) and now it seems he has a personal vendetta against me. Thanks for listening to me....I'm sorry to set this in your lap like this. Æon Insane Ward 04:01, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Natalya, I will relax, I had a brainwave for a barnstar that would be for espersnza members going to try to come up with something today. It will be very relaxing. Æon Insane Ward 18:07, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Adminship
Thank you for contributing to my my request for adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a withdrawn vote count of 14/27/14, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and keeping cool under stress. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, Highway Return to Oz... 13:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nat, can you protect it? Please. Highway Return to Oz... 19:26, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's deleted again, they're trying to remove the history. If it stays unprotected, could you do it then? It's sickening. Highway Return to Oz... 19:27, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks anyway. Nice kitten, it could be in a horror film! :O Highway Return to Oz... 21:20, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You can also subst it. Highway Return to Oz... 21:26, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Monty Python TfD compromise

[edit]

There is a compromise now posted on the TfD if you are still interested in this debate. One question, even though you are against this TfD, have you even taken the master template out for a test drive?

Democracy disambiguation

[edit]

You had contributed to the Democracy (disambiguation) discussion awhile back. I have a draft of a new page at User:Oberst/Democracy (disambiguation). The intention is to break the "List" section to a separate page, leaving a much more conventional Wikipedia disambiguation page. Future work can then be done to refactor the "List", turn it into overview articles, etc. Does this in general seem reasonable to you? The draft's Talk page may be a good place for specific comments - David Oberst 20:05, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I set loose my revised disambig page, but unfortunately Bruce still is raising his peculiar objections. I assume you've seen a lot of disambig pages - am I wrong (at Talk:Democracy_(disambiguation)#Neutrality_dispute, see also my note to Usgnus) in my "Freedom" and "Parliament" examples, and not finding any good pages which have the laundry list of links that Democracy had? The various articles are all in effect related to what might have been titled the concept of "Democracy (political)" if there had been multiple senses like "Freedom", and don't seem to be separate dab candidates. - David Oberst 22:47, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

*shifty eyes*

[edit]

Well if you weretonominatemeforadminship in a couple of months, the link on this page would be absolutely no use. And if you didn't go to User talk:Coltonblue, you wouldn't find the link to the diff I wasn't talking to him about. ;) Thanks Nat, Highway Return to Oz... 11:30, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
