Madonna SEX book Great Britain edition

[edit]

Hi, I saw the image of the mylar you have posted online and have a question. I have the book with this particular mylar (book wrap) picture. Inside the book it reads it is a Great Britain edition and there is a speling mistake of the name of the singer: Copyright 1992 by Madonad? Do you know anything about this edition. It looks very wierd to me and has no info anywhere. I will appreciate your comment. Please send at dimadim@abv.bg Thank you. Thanks for uploading Image:Pharoah's Daughter -Hita -Pas des Caryatids -Sofia Fedorova & Unidentified as Slaves -1909.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:18, 23 June 2008 (UTC). Thanks for adding the source and copyright info there :) I've removed PD-old as the photo could not have been taken by somebody who died over 100 years ago, but the source information helps to identify the image as copyright free. Opera Garnier layout

[edit]

Mrlopez2681, I'm writing a short story which takes place in the Opera Garnier in the 23rd century. It centers on a young girl making her debut performing in the Danse des petits cygne. I have been looking at aerial views of the Opera, and available floor plans, including the 1822 floor plan which you provided to Wikipedia.

I visited the Opera a few years ago, but it was before I thought of this story, and I didn't note the architectural details I need. I wonder, do you know the Opera well enough to answer three questions about its layout?

1. There is a balcony and a promenade. Do they run next to one another, such that one can walk along the promenade, and from several points, step across to the balcony, or am I completely incorrect on this?

2. Does one approach the balcony or balcony/promenade only from the ends, or are there doors from the interior along the length?

3. I remember occupying a box seat at the Opera, and I remember occupying a box seat somewhere in Paris that had a small vestibule behind the box, with a separate chair, probably intended for a servant. I can't recall whether the box with the vestibule was at the Opera. Do you know whether the Opera has such seats?

Thank you in advance for your help. Be assured that, if you can't or don't supply answers, I can carry on by making my descriptions more vague. I also must thank you for your contributions to the many Wiki pages that already have helped me.

Thanks for getting back to me! I'm at dp64@aol.com. I don't suppose you have anything on the backstage area? My heroine must perform, then have a backstage discussion, and then meet her boyfriend in one of the boxes. I wish I'd taken notes when I was there! Thanks for uploading Image:Harllequinade -Andre Eglevsky as Harlequin -1952.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:The Golden Fish -Underwater Scene -2.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:The Golden Fish -Underwater Scene -2.jpg is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:The Golden Fish -Underwater Scene -2.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Dear colleague, you have uploaded this picture as a portrait of italian violinist Alessandro Rolla (1757-1841). But this source claims that it is the image of his son, violinist de:Antonio Rolla (1798-1837). And it seems the source is right because in 1820 Rolla Sr. should be about 60 years old while the person at the picture looks much younger. Sylvia

[edit]

Some time ago you contatced me about adding a section to the Sylvia (ballet) article concerning the 1900 revival of the ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg (staged by lev Ivanov and Pavel Gerdt.

Over time I completly forgot about it, but I'd like to go ahead and write it. I'm not all that great at citations, so perhaps you can help with that, and with editing, proof-reading, etc.

Let me know!!

Will do! How about you write it on the talk page and when we're done sourcing it we can include it? -- rmrfstar (talk) 20:10, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great work so far! Still, I must insist that whatever you write includes inline citations in the style of the current article. -- rmrfstar (talk) 20:40, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Petipamemoirs.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Petipamemoirs.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Specifically, the image has a problem since it is being used in an article about the person, rather than the book. (ESkog)(Talk) 21:23, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Palais Garnier -Outside.JPG

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Palais Garnier -Outside.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? dave pape (talk) 06:08, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Sexbook1s.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sexbook1s.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 03:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Paquita -Pas de Trois -Rosella Hightower, Maria Tallchief, Andre Eglevsky -1951.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:24, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ondine

[edit]

Important! - Round up what few ballet enthusiasts you know on Wikipedia and get them to vote on the proposed merging of the Ondine articles that would see the article about Frederick Ashton's production of the actual ballet, being merged into one about the music.

See here: - Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Classical_music#Straw_Poll

And please vote to oppose this change, as this music would not have been written had it not been for Ashton's ballet!!!

Thank You

I am creating this notice to invite all interested parties to vote on the proposal to merge Undine (ballet) and Ondine (Ashton) to a new article at Ondine (ballet). You can read the discussion and add your vote to the poll at:

Look forward to seeing you there to help resolve this situation, thanks! Crazy-dancing (talk) 11:29, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Which Came First???

[edit]

Dear Mr. Lopez:

Your contributions to Wikipedia on Classical Ballet are A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y AMAZING and FANTASTIC!!!!! I commend your work to the MAX!!! That being said, may I please ask two questions which I have long been unable to answer:
    1. Which came first??? Using Adolphe Adam's "Le Diable a Quatre" as an example, did the Composer write the music which the Choreographer then had to adapt to OR did the Choreographer present his ideas to the Composer who then had to "tailor" his music to the dancers??? Did the Composer, for instance, decide the time signatures such as three-quarter [my favorite]???
    2. Having read with much interest the various Ballets composed by Cesare Pugni,

Ricardo Drigo, and Ludwig Minkus [among others of that period], are any of these Ballets available on CD or LP???

    Thank you for your time!
                                                           Chupacabra75 (talk) 12:47, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Bayadere - Kirov - Vishneva.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Bayadere - Kirov - Vishneva.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:41, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for discussion/Log/2010 July 13#Category:New York City Ballet repertory by season

[edit]

May I call your attention to a proposal at Categories for discussion/Log/2010 July 13 to delete Category:New York City Ballet repertory by season? — Robert Greer (talk) 22:26, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The photograph in question

Hello,

On the talk page for this file on the French Wikipedia, we received a comment from an anonymous user stating that this place is not the Opera House, but the Palais des Beaux-Arts (Palace of Fine Arts), located place Carli. Can you check and correct your description if necessary ? -Ash_Crow (talk) 18:19, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article The Beauty of Lebanon or The Mountain Spirit has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced for nearly 4 years, fails WP:V

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Stifle (talk) 11:33, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to remove the ridiculous remarks of Hommequidanse (and your perfectly reasonable reply). Hommequidanse has either been thrown off Wikipedia, or the signature may have been a forgery to begin with. In either event, there's no need for his impertinence to clutter up the Corsaire talk page. — Robert Greer (talk) 15:59, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

yes, please do, and thank you. I just re-read Hommequidanse's comment and got the biggest kick out if it! Some people (sigh) ... --Mrlopez2681 (talk) 00:05, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I am trying to obtain some pictures of Queen Alexandra and Edward VII for use in a BBC documentary, and was hoping if you could let me know if your pictures are copyright free, and how you obtained them? If you own the rights to the pictures, would you be happy for us to use one of your pictures of the King and Queen?

Thanks,

Enrico Cecchetti images

[edit]

Hi im looking for a picture Enrico Cecchetti in poster size that would be suitable to frame. Hopfully an early image of him when he was still dancing. My girlfriend owns and operates a dance studio and uses Enrico's teachings, i'dd like to surprise her with a framed photo of him. If you could direct me to a source it we be very much appreciated.

Gateway of India

[edit]

Are you sure the picture is of King George and Queen Mary in 1911? The reason why it can't be them is that the Gateway was only completed in 1924, as you will read in the Gateway of India article. It is more likely that it is the visit of the Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) in 1921, when the gateway might have been near completion. The raised hems of some of the women's dresses (in the crowd) too is suggestive of the 1920s. It is a great picture! Thanks for uploading it. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 02:38, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Need Image Location Information

[edit]

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Victoria. I am working for a small documentary company and need your help.

Currently, we are creating a show for National Geographic, and there are a couple of images on your page that we would love to use in our program.

They are the "Lithograph by unknown, 1873. Paris Opera (salle Le Peletier) fire, october 29, 1873, as seen from the right façade." and the "Burning of the Old Opera House, Paris" (Illustrated London News, 8 November 1873, p. 223 [1]). The fire which destroyed the Salle Le Peletier occurred on 29 October 1873.

We need to contact the actual owner of these images in order to use them. If you could please provide me with any information on where or who you got these images from I would really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for you help. Feel free to contact me at the email address below.

Sincerely, Victoria Van Vleet

Hello,

My name is Micheal Smith. I am working on my Doctoral dissertation in musical arts and I'm researching opera theater venues and their influences on the tenor voice. I came across your image "A lithograph of Giselle at the Paris Opéra in 1867 at the Salle le Peletier" and would like to use it in my dissertation if you are the one who holds the rights to it. If you are not, and it is public domain as wikipedia has suggested or know of whom I need to ask, I'd appreciate the information.

my email address is smithjrm@unlv.nevada.edu

Best regards,

File source problem with File:Thea.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Thea.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 20:28, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for your exciting contributions to the dance articles on wikipedia. i am a dance history scholar from germany and am researching photographies of the nutcracker, and was wondering, where you found the image this image: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Nutcracker_-Stanislava_Belinskaya_as_Clara,_Lydia_Rubtsova_as_Marianna,_%26_Vasily_Stukolkin_as_Fritz_-1892.JPG my email is eike.wittrock@fu-berlin.de; i'd be very grateful for your help Ecwit (talk) 10:52, 14 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could you provide any evidence on your claim, please? Ideally, a reliable online source or a scan but printed reference is still better than nothing. Of course, Google yields plenty but you may know which of them uses original sources. — Vano 22:55, 23 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mrlopez2681 (talk) 11:27, 25 November 2012 (UTC)Marius Petipa had a rather large family of relatives, brother sisters, etc. It is possible it is a family member who was involved in theatre, as the family was. Whoever uploaded this photo to the french site a few years ago did so irresponsibly, as it is most certainly NOT Marius Petipa. I also doubt that it is Lucien Petipa, Marius's brother, but perhaps another family member...there is a family resemblance. The "Weckerlin" is certainly Jean-Baptiste Weckerlin, the composer. --Mrlopez2681 (talk) 11:27, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see. So it can't be just renamed as a solved case. Thank you, that's all I wanted to know. I guess I'll ask Gallica and/or discuss this elsewhere. — Vano 20:26, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vital Articles/Expanded: we need help evaluating dancers

[edit]

Mrlopez, would you be available to help assess the relative historical importance/significance of several dancers? None of the present VA/E project participants have any particular experience in dance or expertise in dance topics, and I thought it would be a smart move to reach out to someone who did. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping; the time commitment would not be very great, but would involve you reading 20 or so dancer biographies, and giving us your opinion regarding the relative significance of each subject (see here.) Are you willing to help? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:27, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Dance

[edit]

Hello, I’m contacting you because you are a participant in WikiProject Dance. Myself and another editor, User:Mwacha are interested in developing some notability guidelines on WikiProject Dance for dancers, dance critics, performers, and other genre articles as there is no such thing at the moment comparable to what I have heard other editors use for Visual Arts, IE “if they are collected in a major museum, then they are considered notable.” There are of course exceptions to this standard but it is nice to have a rule of thumb to help with AfD, and other moderated discussions. We hope to start this discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dance under Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dance#Notability Guidelines.OR drohowa (talk) 18:49, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dopplegangers

[edit]

Hello, I am interested in the photo of Nikola, and his visually similar cousin George that you posted. I don't know much about royalty (as I thought it had nothing to do with me) but this last year, I decided to look into my father's family, which brought me to DNA, which in turn has forced me to investigate my mother's family as well. Now. Since nobody is who they claim to be, and birthdays and years are of little use in my research. BUT locations and faces, and the names if used a guidance tool have been increasingly beneficial for me. The similarities of family members who should not be related except for by marriage are the keys to a puzzle that was given to me facedown. I suppose, what I am asking, is: have you found more of these nearly identical associations? Do you know if Nikola and his family were ever thought to have fled to the United States? Disregard the notion that his kin are all accounted for at some burn site in Russia. Of course this was placed there, by an ammetuer genealogist, it was to make people stop theorizing and asking questions. Anyone related to that family can pull this off after someone dies and is cremated. Bones and fragments are left with every one. Have you done your DNA? Have you looked at the DNA of people who dance? Perform? The Gypsies? When they say that a personality characteristic is "in your blood", it means just that. That ungrounded desire to just go. To dance, to create beautiful things... I have been a bellydancer for over 10 years, with such a distaste for the Egyptian style most people associate. I love the tribal style with traditional Roma influence. But WHY????!!!! It is in my blood. When I first started looking for my father, I created a Facebook page and his name. And it only took a few minutes before a number of Russian people started following me on all of my social media accounts. There are other interesting people who also decided that I was of great interest, and I know it's because of his name. But his name is and what it says it's supposed to be, and at this point I don't think that anyone in the family goes by the name they are supposed to have. Whatever that may be anymore. Like I said earlier, if you look at the name as a codeword or a key, then you are able to find others.

I started looking at some of my DNA matches trees, but just looking at the photographs of the people in the families. I came across some very interesting photographs indeed, which prompted me to look at The hands and the arms and also sometimes the throats or the feet of royalty. Which is why my interest was peaked in the czars of Russia, and the blood lines of the British.

I put a side-by-side together yesterday of a man from one of my Stewart lines' DNA matches' tree and Nikola the second. This man is named John S. Merrit, the photo was taken around 1894 in Davis City, Iowa. If you would care to talk further with me, I have a number of emails, Thank you for taking the time, Erin Conway Van Zante adeemeg@hotmail.com adeemeg@gmail.com Erinvanzante@yahoo.com Facebook.com/markpaulduke1947 [[Merrit and the Tzar]] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erincvz (talkcontribs) 20:19, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Fille Mal Gardee -Royal -Nerina & Blair -2.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Fille Mal Gardee -Royal -Nerina & Blair -2.JPG.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
