GOCE request
I have placed Kalidas (film) in the GOCE requests page. I would very much appreciate if you start editing it when possible. Kailash29792 (talk) 04:46, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, Kailash. Someone from the guild will get to it as soon as possible; though Miniapolis may not - she's rather busy with other stuff often. KieranTribe (talk) 09:48, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

No Gun Ri
Hello,
Hope you're doing well. I am currently engaged in a lengthy dispute resolution process over at No Gun Ri Massacre, which has seen a very heated debate between Cjhanley and WeldNeck which has seethed for years.
Part of it revolves around a sourcing dispute, namely, the credibility of the U.S. No Gun Ri Review Report, the initial AP reports (particularly the credibility of certain eyewitnesses), and of historian Robert Bateman. In general, the page has been a battleground, with frequent personal attacks, accusations of POV, bold edits against consensus, and so on, although it has calmed down as of late. It is important to note that Cjhanley is in fact one of the AP reporters who initially broke the No Gun Ri story, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize; also, WeldNeck has accused him of a conflict of interest. Both editors have compiled extensive lists of their grievances, and have dragged one another to ANI: [1][2][3][4][5] WeldNeck also attacked Cjhanley as a sockpuppeteer: [6]. Neither editor is blameless, to say the least.
For some time, I, along with Timothyjosephwood, Wikimedes, and Irondome have attempted to mediate, and we have successfully imposed an unofficial "freeze" on editing the page without prior proposals. While the situation is not urgent, I would appreciate any help an experienced editor such as yourself could offer. If you are interested, I can also provide some sources to provide background, although some can also be found on the page's external links category. I'm happy to talk on either my talk page or yours.
Thanks very much,
GAB (talk) 22:07, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- I read the talk page, and don't feel I can add anything to the discussion. I'm surprised the article hasn't been taken to the dispute resolution noticeboard by now (especially since it's been to ANI). What I see is one editor trying to own the article and a second editor accusing the first of a COI. Although discussion is proceeding at a snail's pace, the alternative (full protection) would slow things down further but may ultimately be more effective. There seems to be too much heat and not enough light. Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 22:49, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

You've done a fantastic job. On behalf of CaesarsPalaceDude and myself: thank you!shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:23, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Hey, when you click on show the full book report, a bot keeps messing up the links and assessments. I keep reverting it but the bot messes it up again. Any ideas why? — Calvin999 17:24, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I have no experience with WP Books and {{Book report}} has no documentation. Cyberbot I is "updating" the book report after your edits, for some reason. Check all your code very carefully (one small mistake further up can make a big difference), and you can leave a note on User talk:Cyberpower678 (the bot's owner). Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 18:19, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
- When I first did it, it was all fine, then the bot decided to do weird things. — Calvin999 21:13, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Articles with lists
What do you think is the best way for counting words in articles with lists? I am working on Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, and the word count is low due to the "listy" parts of the article (some of which I may try to concert with prose anyway). Thoughts? -Pax Verbum 05:52, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- This happens to me a lot; the last article I copyedited was listy :-). Just copy and paste the article text (I used to do this in edit mode, but it's quicker and easier to copy-paste the "live" version) into any word processor with a word-count tool (I use Word or Open Office Writer). "Word count" is usually in the "Tools" drop-down menu. And if you ever need a word count for a section, click "Show preview" in edit mode and the "Page size" link in the sidebar will change from black to blue. Have fun and all the best, Miniapolis 13:47, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- That's what I figured, but I couldn't remember if there was some sort of magical Wiki tool out there that solved the problem. Copy and paste takes sooooooo much work! ;) Thanks for the help! -Pax Verbum 18:18, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Could you tell me, why it's relevant that the above picture is an FP? Most of the others in Category:Featured pictures are not stored locally. Armbrust The Homunculus 14:41, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
- I tweaked your header to keep it from being a big black box :-). According to WP:CSD F8, files tagged {{FeaturedPicture}} need their image-description pages kept locally and I didn't have much experience with selective restoration. Think it's fixed. Miniapolis 16:06, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Copy Edit request
Hi, can you please do a copyedit of the article, Fall of Mosul? RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 10:39, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. Miniapolis doesn't take direct copy edit requests (see the top of her talk page), but if you post it on the Guild of Copy Editors requests page she or another member of the guild will get to it ASAP. I'm removing your duplicate post, also. KieranTribe 11:11, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, Kieran; I had to put my foot down long ago when I was besieged by folks who thought their article was more important than those of editors patiently waiting on the requests page, and I realized that "personal" requests are no compliment :-). Cheers to you both, Miniapolis 13:02, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
- Mm. Looks like you needed to do that, the amount of things that come through here. :-) KieranTribe 13:24, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia library Newspapers.com renewal
Your free one-year account with Newspapers.com will end on August 7 2015. Newspapers.com has offered to extend existing accounts by another year. If you wish to keep your account until August 7 2016, please add your name to the Account Renewal list here. I'll let Newspapers.com customer support know, and they will extend your subscription. If you don't want to keep your account for another year, you don't have to do anything. Your account will expire unless I hear from you that you want to keep it. Hey!
Hey! I hope you are doing well. I have a request. Would you please give it a copy edit ASAP as I want to take it to FA. It will be nominated for GA today.—Prashant 07:18, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry—I'm busy, and don't accept direct copyedit requests anyway; see the top of this page. Your best bet is WP:GOCE/REQ. All the best, Miniapolis 13:00, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
