Another GOCE newbie question
I have now copyedited three January 2012 articles with a total of 4250 words. I see that there is a chart with totals for various types of edits. It says that we, as editors, are to update the chart with our own statistics. To do this, my guess is to move those entries with less than my own to the right, and my values are then put in their place. Is this correct? Your help is appreciated.

Hi Miniapolis, I've been copy-editing this article, but another editor removed my acceptance here on the GOCE Request page for some reason. I've left a note with the removing editor Iztwoz, and on the request page. I'm sorry for any confusion caused by this – I don't normally visit the request page while I'm working on articles. Feel free to work on the article though. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 11:31, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
- No problem, Baffle; I've only done the lead, so feel free to continue working on the article and I'll move on to another one. Just tag it again, please, so no one else thinks it's unclaimed—there's always plenty to choose from! :-) Thanks for your help and all the best, Miniapolis 15:17, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks very much for your work, I was beginning to wonder if any admin would make the necessary effort. Brocach (talk) 23:17, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

- I've updated the list of outstanding fixes here. Hope you can find the time. Brocach (talk) 15:11, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- That's quite a list; I'll get to them as time permits. While I don't see as much of a consensus as you do, I'm moving them in accordance with WP:NAMINGCRITERIA (conciseness, in particular). All the best, Miniapolis 16:46, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- The consensus really was there, in the end, very patiently arbitrated among sometimes heated participants by another non-GAA admin. I won't bore you with the back story but virtually all of the fixes you are carrying out arose from edits by one single-minded editor who decided, without consultation, to rename hundreds of articles, and often did so in such a way that simple reverts were made impossible, which is the only reason for taking up your valuable time. Thanks again. Brocach (talk) 21:20, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi! Well an another editor have taken the article for ce but, he/she is not responding and taking very long to clear it from GOCE. If that is possible, please accept the article and ce if you could. The article is very short and it would merely take half an hour. I would be glad, if you edit this too. Thanks.Prashant talk 05:22, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I alternate between the backlog of articles needing copyediting and request articles; in addition, while I make an occasional exception for requesters "jumping the queue" it's not my general policy. I also don't poach other copyeditors' articles; if you have a problem with the editor who's accepted the article, please contact them directly. Thanks and all the best, Miniapolis 13:24, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- However..., I see that the request is from January and the editor who accepted it isn't on a wikibreak. Let's give them a day or so to respond to your talk-page request (which will give me a chance to remove an article from the backlog); if they don't get to it, I will. One request, though: when it's being actively copyedited, it helps avoid edit conflicts (which are time-consuming to resolve) if you avoid editing the section being copyedited; it's hard to copyedit an article that's not stable. If there is "no consensus to move", how many more months must I wait for another move request? How are "oppose" comments stronger than "support" ones, despite majority? --George Ho (talk) 00:35, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
- "No consensus to move" means precisely that. Consensus is not necessarily a majority vote; after reading all the comments, I sensed that a) the "oppose" and "support" comments were about evenly balanced and b) among the "support" comments, there was only an evolving consensus concerning the target title. Under the circumstances, I felt I had no choice but to close the discussion (which had certainly gone on long enough) as no consensus. Unlike AfD discussions, there's no need to kick the can down the road at RM. All the best, Miniapolis 02:36, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Sir, How are you? I want to tell you that your copy edited articles are really wonderful. I want to say that our article Priyanka Chopra failed its first FAC because of low standard writing. One more reason was probably lack of inputs from other editors (It page size was roughly 20,000 bytes). I would request you, if you could copy edit the article and give it a thorough copy/edit would be great. I beg you to please, accept my request for copy/edit. It is also awaiting at the Copy/editors Guild, you may grab it when it reaches up or when you want to edit it. It would be grateful to you, if you could do this. Thank You.Prashant talk 03:05, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

isare! but we all do our best. I don't know what the "flowery" language referred to was, but one thing we copyeditors have to do is tone down the peacock language often present in BLPs. One thing I have been doing in this article is replacing an excessive use of "she" with "Chopra" or "the actress". The trouble with GAC and FAC reviews is that you're at the mercy of whoever shows up; while there are certainly GA and FA standards, their interpretation is often a judgment call. - Hello. I just saw an edit by Chris the speller undoing some of your work such as removing the hiphen from "well-received". Also, in the lead you put "Tamil film, Thamizhan", whereas in other places it says for example "superhero film Krrish" without the comma. Any comments on which better? I think it should be consistent. BollyJeff | talk 14:16, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Chris the speller is fussy about hyphens, and may be using AWB or another automated editor. Whether or not a comma goes before the title depends on its use in the sentence. Edits made after my copyedit are beyond my control. Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 15:41, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
