Another welcome
[edit]Mike just dropping a note to say welcome aboard and if you ever need help with anything drop me a line. Most of my editing is USMC related but there is lots of work needed on Army pages as well (uniformity) and the formatting and updating can be difficult at first. Again welcome, and hope you stick around. Cheers--Looper5920 21:26, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Arbitration
[edit]Mike, I've notified WPMH of the minor dispute over the M11 issue and asked for someone to step in. I don't think Signaleer is willing to have me as an arbitrator since we've had a previous (and recent) disagreement over editing preferences, but perhaps other people from the Project not involved with either party here could shed some light on this problem. --ScreaminEagle 16:32, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for helping a bit with the POV crap in the cluster bomb article... if you could help me make my point on the talk page, I'd really appreciate it. ZakuTalk 00:07, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: M11
[edit]My pleasure. I hate to see arguments 1) between fellow members of the Project (I think we're a Project that's better than that) and 2) that weren't started by me.
By the way, your rewrite is far superior to anything that was there previously, so good job. It's much easier to adjust paragraphs than lists, despite one's first instincts.
As I said on the talk page, the CID fellow is still looking for documents stating it is the standard firearm to prove what he already told me via phone. He said it's a little difficult finding something like that as it turns out, and he left on leave for a bit as well, but I told him it can wait until it's (if it's) found. He's a decent guy who's not only very willing to help, but also a big fan of Wikipedia, so he understands our need for published material and is on it. You'll get it one day. :) --ScreaminEagle 18:24, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:HRMcMaster.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:HRMcMaster.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 17:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

M4/M16 Replacement
[edit]Hello again! I just read your comments on my talk page and quickly decided you're probably right, the wording goes from "all M3s," to "selected M9s," then M16 series rifles, creating the logical inference that it's probably not all M16s but selected M16s. It also makes the most sense, as we'll probably have something else before we ever get around to replacing every M16 in the inventory, nor do we truly need to replace every M16 in the inventory. FYI, I found a really good article on the subject from the Army Times which I think you'd appreciate (if you haven't read it already), you can find it here.
I inserted the edit in an attempt to make some recognition of fact that M4s have been replacing M16s (the article link above mentions the Army will buy 100,000 more M4s in fiscal year 2008 for that purpose) after seeing the confusion Blain and ParsecBoy were quickly getting into, but I didn't parse the statement carefully enough, and I'm glad that you caught it. I'm going to try inserting a smaller, better, narrowly worded edit in a minute that will adhere to the source in a way that should be agreeable, just noting that the M4 has been replacing some M16s, but not conveying anything more than what is reported on the army.mil site.
I saw the page you linked on The Old Guard and suggested I check out, wow, I quickly got the perception that it was a huge headache for everyone involved over something that probably seems very trivial yet turned out to be very devisive. Two minor comments on that note: one, I actually lived at Fort Myer from December 1987 to early 1990, and had several friends in TOG (but I lived in Building 406). Two, I recognized the editor pushing discussions on the name change, he and I started having a discussion on the bottom of the Talk page for "United States Cavalry," to which I haven't replied because I didn't know if it was worth pursuing. If you know anything about the Cav, please take a look and share your perspective. --AzureCitizen (talk) 03:42, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Image:US ARMY 1LT.gif question
[edit]Kudos for the images now part of United States Army officer rank insignia. They look great and are an improvement over others I have seen. I did not know if you made them yourself, but do you know if it is possible to remove the shine from Image:US ARMY 1LT.gif? The horizontal glare made me think it was a modified Image:USA WO 1.png at first glance. (-: Thanks. — MrDolomite • Talk 16:31, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Army National Guard
[edit]Hi, Im currently working to create OrBat graphics for all the Army National Guard divisions (i.e. 34th Infantry Division (United States)#Current Structure or 35th Infantry Division (United States)#Current Structure, but as the National Guard is currently restructuring it is extremly difficult to find the necessary information. As of now I have done my best and created the following 5 graphics:
- 28th Infantry Division
- 29th Infantry Division
- 34th Infantry Division
- 35th Infantry Division
- 42nd Infantry Division
most likely there will be some errors - if you have the time and knowledge could you please have a look and check for errors and/or omissions? Thank you very much. Also I will work on the 36th, 38th and 40th Divisions over the week and do hope that you could have a look at the Army National Guard#Divisions list and check if they listed brigades are correct. Also if you have some information regarding the units of the brigades of the aforementioned 3 divisions, this would massively help me in my endeavor. thanks, --noclador (talk) 22:36, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
