BMW Grand Prix results

Hi.

Thanks for writing BMW Grand Prix results - it's a good start, but, you do need to say where the fact come from - and I see that you have done so with other articles you've made; if you were about to add that, then that's fine - however, in future, consider writing a new article as a user-space draft and adding references before moving it to the live area.

Cheers,  Chzz  ►  14:05, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

You got any good ideas for the article of the month? I was thinking Ayrton Senna, due to the anniversary of his death passing Saturday there, but I'm really stumped. Cs-wolves(talk) 18:22, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Yep, and a new article just wouldn't feel right to get such treatment so quick. Cs-wolves(talk) 18:47, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:AUTOCOURSE 2000 cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:AUTOCOURSE 2000 cover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:43, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Derek Hill

Hi Midgrid,

Last week I (unsuccessfully) attempted to make a few changes in the Wiki entry for Derek Hill. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I had to list references at the time of my edit (sorry about that, I'm new to editing Wiki) which I assume was why it was deleted. I work for Derek Hill and made the changes at his request. I'll re-edit the entry and list the references this time. If you have any questions or concerns, can you please contact me? I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks, Sportscarkim (talk) 16:45, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your help Midgrid.
I made a few minor changes. Quick question, I want to add a few paragraphs on Derek's other races. How do you insert one of those racing boxes?
Thanks so much!
Kim
Sportscarkim (talk) 21:32, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Again, thanks so much for your help, and for creating this page!
I'd like to discuss one concern I have. The section box for the International F3000 on the upper right is a little bit misleading. It states Derek's best finish was 16th in 2003, when in fact, his best finish in a race was 5th that year. In that Derek only competed in half the races that year, it's preferable to list the best race finish, not only the championship standings. Although F3000 was one of the top series Derek competed in, it was just one part his career, which I truly wish to make as accurate and balanced a portrayal of as we possibly can. Can we just change the box to list his series and other one off races?
Let me know what you think.
Sportscarkim (talk) 20:52, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Midgrid! You rock! Thanks for doing this.
I'll add the missing info.
Sportscarkim (talk) 16:31, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to bug you with this, but...

What do I need to do to insert an image? I'm supposed to provide copyright information but I have no clue how to do that. I've searched the FAQs and can't figure it out.

Can you help?

Sportscarkim (talk) 01:54, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

You are the King of Wiki! I read the guidelines and added the photo credit. Do I need to do anything else? Thanks again.

Re: Newsletter

I was thinking about Bruce McLaren for the newsletter, 40 years ago yesterday that he died, but the article itself has a differing opinion on whether it is a C-Class or a Start-Class article. Once the class can be hammered out, I would propose that for the selected article for the month. Cs-wolves(talk) 11:43, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, there's a lot to improve upon the page itself. I'll see if I can find any in some of my books also. There's a lot of stuff that will be in this week's issue – Turkey and that incident with the Red Bulls, Indy with Dario's win and Conway's crash, Le Mans preview amongst others. Cs-wolves(talk) 11:59, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh my! I know their press date is late Monday or early Tuesday, but that is somewhat baffling! Cs-wolves(talk) 19:25, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Too true; only the Masters, BTCC and IndyCar of any major report significance next week from looking at the calendar. Cs-wolves(talk) 20:51, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi, mr midgrid. I think you might remember that I'm a prominent Formula One editor. I also like to edit cricket articles. I have a request for you as a cricket fan. basically the cricketing country Ireland needs a flag. And it's flag is on wikipedia here's the ireland cricket team flag File:Ireland Cricket Flag.png and can you put this in Template:Country data IRE

Sounds like an unusual request but do you think you will be able to do it. Wiki id2(talk) 13:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Hungary

I've only one thing on review at the moment: Wally Hammond is at FAC here. He was a cricketer before the war. I've usually got some cricket stuff on the go somewhere! Let me know if you have any other F1 stuff up in future; I'm a big fan and know quite a lot about it, but not enough to do any writing! --Sarastro1 (talk) 19:33, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Reviews

If you still feel like doing some cricket reviews, I have Yorkshire captaincy affair of 1927 at FAC here at the moment. And there will be a couple of GANs any day now, as soon as I can be bothered. Both obscure cricketers, I'm afraid. And all three are short by my standards! --Sarastro1 (talk) 21:32, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Newsletter

Got a choice for the picture and article for the newsletter this month? Struggling to think of one for either. I expanded Stefan Bellof a few weeks back but as a Start-Class article, it wouldn't seem right to stick it as the monthly choice. Cs-wolves(talk) 22:59, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

That's the ones I was thinking about but thought it would be best to get a second opinion. I'll support either choice you make for the picture, because they are both as good as one another. I'll have to have a look around the Commons guidelines for Flickr photos on there, so I have an idea of how to upload them to here. Mainly used the Autosport tribute for Bellof but I'm sure they are some more sources about for improvement! Cs-wolves(talk) 16:59, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey, no problem. Yep, I'll let you deliver them later. Makes a change for me to not deliver the newsletter! ;) Cs-wolves(talk) 15:03, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Amazing what Google does for helping out with the Bellof referencing! Cs-wolves(talk) 23:41, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

If you want to hold on...

... I actually finish my degrees in a little over a week. I can give 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix a prose check or whatever then before you take it to FAC. Apterygial 23:06, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm (somewhat aggressively) copyediting the article. You should go through and revert whatever you disagree with. Apterygial 00:37, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

The article Jordan EJ14 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references found only a single published (gBooks) reference to this vehicle, fails WP:V and WP:N

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Infobox change

Hi Midgrid. I've reverted the changes you made to the infobox of 2008 Hungarian Grand Prix. If you believe these changes are necessary, can you please raise the matter for discussion at WT:F1? If the change is necessary, then it should probably be made to all the F1 race reports, which I think requires community discussion. Regards. DH85868993 (talk) 02:21, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
