William Ashley
[edit]Hi. William Ashley was a Knight Bachelor, the commonest (and lowest) form of knighthood which carries membership of no order and thus no postnominal letters. This is confirmed by this entry in the London Gazette, which refers to him as "Sir William James Ashley, Knight" (no order mentioned) and by his obituary in The Times. -- Necrothesp 12:33, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Anntreneman.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Anntreneman.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 10:01, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Anntreneman.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Anntreneman.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu Badali 15:08, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging
[edit]Look mate, what IS your problem with where images come from? They make wikipedia a better place, regardless of source (and for the record I think that ALL of my images qualify as fair use). You're actually working against everything that is good about wikipedia, systematically going after people and questioning everything they do. Who told you to do this? Why take the 'law' into your own hands? Ask yourself this: who are you protecting? You wanna play cops and robbers, go and joing the freaking police. Do something useful, rather than wasting your life on here. What is your job? Cos this ain't real life buddy, and if its your only hobby, I feel bad for you. I mean really bad. I thinks it's quite sad that your only reason for using wikipedia is to actively reverse what other people do, rather than to actively create content. I will review all the images you 'helpfully' tagged for me, but I'm getting real tired of you ducking me man. Peace out. Megawattbulbman 11:09, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, Megawattbulbman. Please, don't take my actions personally. I feel sorry for making you feel ducked. I'll do my best to avoid it. Thanks for caring about my free time. Yes, imporving Wikipedia is one of my favorite hobbies, but thankfully not the only one. Thanks for caring again.
- I believe it's important to know where the images come from because otherwise we couldn't determine it's copyright status. And I believe that removing copyright-problematic images from Wikipedia improves it just as much as adding good and free content. I don't believe copyrigths violations (or fair use abuse) can mae Wikipedia a better place.
- By the way, your tone wasn't exactly appropriate. And it may be better to remove the "Stop coming after me Abu!" from the image pages.
- Best regards, --Abu Badali 11:29, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hello again, Megawattbulbman. The source links you posted to the image pages are not working for me. I don't see the images when I follow the URLs. Am I doing something wrong? Thakns in advance, --Abu Badali 11:33, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi Megawattbulbman
[edit]Hi Mr. Bulbman! Please could you try to remain civil in your interactions with other editors - you have been quite rude recently. Evidence of incivility: ([1] [2] [3]. User:Abu badali was doing what many, many other Wikipedia editors do, and - quite correctly - tagging images that had been uploaded improperly. Further disruption of this sort may lead to you being blocked for a short period of time for rudeness and incivility. See WP:CIVIL for more information on this. Any questions, please see my talk page. Regards, Proto///type 13:57, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
No personal attacks
[edit]Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Your messages to User:Abu badali are horrendously rude, especially the latest one. No flaming, please. The use of copyright material on Wikipedia is potentially a very serious problem, please see WP:FU, so as for who Abu badali's actions are benefitting, they're benefitting the whole of Wikipedia. Ask yourself this: Why would he have something against you? Isn't that a bit farfetched? Bishonen | talk 14:08, 23 June 2006 (UTC).
Blocked
[edit]I have blocked you from editing for 24 hours for the following edit, which included absolutely unacceptable personal attacks: [4]. After you return to editing, adjust your behavior or be prepared to face longer blocks. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 15:37, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Blocked
[edit]I've blocked you for 48 hours for personal attacks. Please take this time out to cool down and decide if it's worth continuing down this road - you seem to be a good contributor most of the time. Proto///type 15:37, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Hwilmot.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Hwilmot.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Megawattbulbman! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 9 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
