Potku
You recently proposed the article Potku for deletion. As it happens, Potku is a real line of ready-to-eat meals, but an obsolete one. Its production was stopped in 2010. For all I care, the article could be deleted straight away. Am I allowed to do that? JIP | Talk 22:41, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @JIP:. Ordinary editors like ourselves don’t have the authority to zap articles on our own. The proposed deletion process allows other editors time to try to find reliable sources to save an article or argue some reason why it should be kept. After a week if nobody had come up with anything, the article will go. After a week has passed the assumption is that there’s a consensus among editors to delete. September 2019
I noticed that you tagged Pro7 (Dj/Producer) with {{prod blp}} for proposed deletion. I have removed the tag from the article because it does not meet the criteria specified. The placement requirements are (a) that subject is living, and (b) that the article contains no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc., reliable or otherwise) supporting any statements made about the person in the biography. Please fully read Wikipedia:Proposed deletion of biographies of living people before tagging articles for proposed deletion. Thank you. Adam9007 (talk) 23:10, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

De-orphaning
Sorry for coming to your talk page with such an apparently grumpy note, but while I do appreciate all the good work that you do, I was nonetheless hoping you would have stopped making edits like this a long time ago. This is an article about a province (in which there are tens of thousands of populated places) and you've added a section that only lists the one village you were trying to de-orphan. I hope you'll appreciate this is not such a good idea. This applies to lower-level administrative areas as well: districts and tehsils are still pretty big; even the smallest tehsils have at least several dozen villages in them. There's no point picking one village and sticking it into the "See also" section of the tehsil article. If there's no sensible way to link to an article, it really is better for such an article to remain an orphan. – Uanfala (talk) 10:50, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Uanfala: thanks for your message and don’t worry about being grumpy; I’m fairly grumpy myself. I understand your point but I have a fundamental disagreement with you about orphans. For geographical orphans I always look for the smallest unit above the subject of the article and I believe that adding towns and villages to a tehsil or taluk is absolutely the right thing to do.
I would not usually attach a single village to a province, but having looked hard for anywhere else to link it, I could not find any information about a relevant local government unit. The link that has annoyed you is definitely not optimal, but what I am seeking to do is bring more user eyes onto the article about the village, so that it may be developed and time linked to something more relevant.
Where I fundamentally disagree with you is that such articles are better off left as orphans. For me no article is better as an orphan. If it is not linked to something else it is in many cases useless. Almost amy link is preferable to orphan status, and there are really very few articles which seem to me just impossible to deorphan.
Over time as the encyclopaedia develops, and more articles are written, it will be easier to link these orphans to something more immediately relevant. However for the time being my view is that the kludge of a link to a tangentially related article is better as it may stimulate other editors to create intermediate links.

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!
Greetings!
After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.
The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.
On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:
- Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
- Diversity winner
- Gender-gap fillers
For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
Troubled International Relations Lecture Series Page
Hello Mccapra, Thank you very much. Yes, if this article is moved to draft I would very much like your assistance. I had no idea when I began this article how difficult the research would be. It will take many more hours of research to chase down information about historical figures involved with this topic. Some records about these people, and the lectures, probably no longer exist. This page is "a gathering up" of what facts I can find. Which, I hope to put into a cohesive article using headings Summary, Mission, History, and a table such as the one on the Charles Elliot Norton Lectures page. PatriciaBishop (talk) 21:54, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @PatriciaBishop: that’s great. I hope you have a draft of your own safe somewhere. Articles for Deletion can be a pretty bruising place. I’m in London and travelling tomorrow but I’ll keep an eye on the discussion and get back in touch with some suggestions in a few days. All the best. Mccapra (talk) 22:34, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DISQO (2nd nomination)
The article was accidentally nominated twice. Could you please move your vote to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DISQO? Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 18:28, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- ok thanks will do. Mccapra (talk) 18:47, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
AFD
By the time I saw your question, the AFD you mentioned had been added to the daylog by a bot, and the one directly below it was caught by the same bot at the same time. It's just a bug that occasionally happens, where Twinkle doesn't actually complete all the steps it's supposed to for some reason — but it's not anything you did wrong or could have done differently, it's just technology behaving weirdly as technology sometimes does. Bearcat (talk) 05:07, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oh great thanks very much for looking at it so promptly. I’ll know not to panic in future. Mccapra (talk) 05:09, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
removed deletion nomination from List of bakemono featured in Bakemono no e
Hi, you removed my deletion nomination from List of bakemono featured in Bakemono no e, saying it should be a move or a merge discussion. I already moved the list to Bakemono no e (where it originally came from). Should I retroactively start a merge discussion? Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 22:10, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
- hi thanks for your note. I’m afraid I didn’t understand that you had already added the list content into the main article so apologies that was my mistake. As we don’t need the list article any more I agree it can be deleted. Unfortunately as I’ve contested the Proposed Deletion it can’t go that route again, so it will have to go to Articles for Deletion. Do you know how to do that or would you like me to do it? Mccapra (talk) 22:28, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
- I think I figured it out. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 20:48, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
