Authorship of File:Teatro_Puerto_Rico_-_1954.jpg
Hi, Marine. Are you the author of this picture? Or you just the owner of its original physical version? --damiens.rf 14:27, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Damien. The copyright original owner was my father. He passed the copyright to my brother Jose Joaquin Santiago. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:54, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! --damiens.rf 15:28, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
Arizona
Yes Tony, that is an uncanny resemblance! In addition to the overall shape, dimension and coastline contour...here's about ten details that match!

Hiram Bithorn
Your attribution of Hiram Bithorn surname as English or Irish origin is actually incorrect the surname was originally van Bithoorn and it is from the Netherlands. The family moved to Puerto Rico from St. Croix and some of his relatives still live there. I may not have put in an online citation but you are just guessing.
Bighorn Family History
If you follow your own instruction Tony it says you are wrong. Searching Ancestry for Bithorn Family History results in Denmark not Britain. You should not try using a source that disagrees with you as source. I know one of the family descendants, I asked them about Bithorn 16 years ago and the person I asked is still alive. Would you like me to give you their telephone number. I found where I posted 16 years ago and it seems we are both wrong. Hardy Nelthropp a Bithorn descendant said German and von Bithorn.RichardBond (talk) 16:05, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Interesting, I'll go with you on this one. Today all mention of the Bithorn surname as an English one will be removed. Tony the Marine (talk) 15:08, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Newspapers.com check-in
Hello Marine 69-71,
You are receiving this message because you have a one-year subscription to Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library. This is a brief update, to remind you about that access:
- Please make sure that you can still log in to your Newspapers.com account. If you are having trouble let me know.
- Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, to include citations with links on Wikipedia. Links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. Also, keep in mind that part of Newspapers.com is open access via the clipping function. Clippings allow you to identify particular articles, extract them from the original full sheet newspaper, and share them through unique URLs. Wikipedia users who click on a clipping link in your citation list will be able to access that particular article, and the full page of the paper if they come from the clipping, without needing to subscribe to Newspapers.com. For more information about how to use clippings, see http://www.newspapers.com/basics/#h-clips .
- Do you write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let me know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.
Finally, we would greatly appreciate it if you filled out this short survey. Your input will help us to facilitate this particular partnership, and to discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.
Thank you,
Wikipedia Library Newspapers.com account coordinator HazelAB (talk) 19:37, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
¡Hola Tony!
Long ago I did not know about you. I hope you are well. (^J^) MusiCitizen (talk) 16:41, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
I am very sorry to revert you in Jaime Sabater, Sr., but Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout says, that disambiguation links like for-template must be in the very beginning of page. Taivorist (talk) 18:49, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
- No problem at all. I just felt that it would look less distracting on the "See also" section, but all's well that ends well. Tony the Marine (talk) 18:55, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Shonessy what?
I've reverted your edit to National Register of Historic Places listings in Pinal County, Arizona re. the Shonessy House and the Shonessy Building/Don Chun Wo Store in Casa Grande, for reasons discussed at Commons:File talk:Shonessy house (Casa Grande) from E 1.JPG.
I see that you've been able to find correct addresses for some of the NRHP houses in Florence. Good work! I tried to get them on my big Pinal County photography expedition, but the address changes thwarted me. Ammodramus (talk) 12:57, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- Even though, when I went to Casa Grande to document the historical structures there, the order of the adderesses in the west side of Mian St. seem to go in the following order: 115, 121, 201 etc. the explanation given seems to be logical and I accept it. Tony the Marine (talk) 17:03, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- One never knows. A friend of mine used to deliver pizzas in Tucson, and he told me that there were two or three houses in the delivery area whose numbers were out of sequence: 2136 N. Euclid between 2120 and 2124, or the like. There could have been some similar weirdness in Casa Grande. Ammodramus (talk) 02:42, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
Just stopping by...
I just saw an edit of yours pop up on my watchlist. So, stopping by to wish you well and hope all is grand in your life. The last time I wished you well (2011), there was a hurricane bearing down on PR. Once again, another one is bearing down on PR (though this one isn't as strong). --Hammersoft (talk) 16:47, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Irma Lozada
Would you please add your True Heroines: Police Women Killed in the Line of Duty source to Irma Lozada? I would think it an interesting source. Thank you Jim1138 20:43, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

Puerto Rico shared knowledge
Thank you, Tony, devoted "to preserving the history and accomplishments of Puerto Ricans in the U.S. military", for quality articles on Puerto Rico and Latin American history, such as the Mozambican War of Independence, for correcting yourself, for a user page with FA qualities, sharing gang life and "positive experiences and recognitions", - you are a veteran awesome Wikipedian (11 May 2007, 7 April 2009)!
A year ago, you were the 983rd recipient of my PumpkinSky Prize, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:26, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I really appreciate the award, but what makes it special is that it came from you, a Wikipedian who encourages others to continue their work here, unlike some others whom have dedicated themselves to harassing and discouraging others. Mil Gracias, Tony the Marine (talk) 23:25, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Future 51st state of the United States
Isn't Puerto Rico part of the United States?
- No. Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States whose political status can change at anytime. It can remain a territory or so called common wealth, it can become independent or it can become a state of the United States. Puerto Rico will become part of the United States only when the United States Congress approves that status. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:14, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
War Against All Puerto Ricans
Hi, I just finished reading last night Nelson Denis's book. I was very surprised and glad to see that he thank you in the book! I haven't been writing many articles in the last few years but I still check my watchlist a few times a week to see that the articles are not vandalized. I know it must happen to you a lot, but reacently I have seen a few of my contributions to wiki on Puerto Rico history groups on facebook, I just "like" them and smile, since only a few people such as yourself know about the time and effort we have put into some of these articles.
El Johnson (talk) 13:45, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you my friend. I also enjoyed the book. I haven't been very active as before either, but I too am glad to see the impact that our work on Puerto Rico has had on others. I was recently featured in a PBS documentary titled: "On Two Fronts: Latinos in Vietnam". You can google it if you like and see it. Tony the Marine (talk) 02:48, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Tony, the author Lourdes Vázquez emailed me letting me know that the photo on her article was removed and there is a notice regarding the footnotes. I am not experienced enough to know how to proceed. The footnotes look fine to me (I did them). Not sure what the issue is regarding the photo. Thanks!--Lawrlafo (talk) 02:28, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Hello Tony. Perhaps it's Veterans' Day or maybe Veteran's Day, but, either way, you can have it both ways!! BTW, one evening while flipping through TV channels I saw you featured in a documentary about Latino Veterans in Vietnam..you looked real "cool" (LOL)..Hey, you might have noticed I haven't been editing much this year..life's wonderful twists have taken me onto other paths where I must -at least for a while- dedicate a greater amount of my time..but, still, wishing you a happy, merry, healthy Veterans Day, as always, Mercy11 (talk) 00:06, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
- Gracias mi hermano. I hope that I did a good job representing the Puerto Rican veteran in the documentary. I am glad that things are going well for you. God bless. Tony the Marine (talk) 06:25, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
