Please stop

[edit]

- It's generally considered that flags are inappropriate for band pages. Please stop reverting the 156.34x I.P.'s edits, assume good faith and discuss with him why he is removing the flags. It's best to ask questions first rather than assuming, friend :-) Take care, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. It's cool, man. Take your time. --Managerpants (talk) 12:10, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since you're a newbie I will resurrect my long gone AGF. I have over 50000 edits here... I lost my AGF about 3 years ago. FTR the WP FLAG discussion ended up in a deadend. The only valid comments on it came from multiple admins at the Music project who said don't use 'em. You can experiment if you want. Try putting a flag on the Pantera article and see how quickly Admin Nufy8 rm's it. Try Putting a flag on any article related to Motorhead and see how quick Admin Wiki alf or Admin Bubba Hotep rm it. Put a flag on anu Kiss related articles and Admin Cholmes75 will remove it. Look at Admin John's edit history... do you notice something?... another flagcruft remover. Also, re logos... the consensus is to delete them all. The only talk of discussion is to discuss the possibility of re-adding the logo into the main article body if it's deemed notable enough to do so. Hope that helps. Remember... try to edit like it's an encyclopedia and not a junior high school book report or some dumbass fansite and you'll do well. If you need any help don't hesitate to ask. I have been here almost as long as there's been a Wiki to be here for. Have a nice day! 156.34.217.76 (talk) 12:39, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cryptopsy

[edit]

Well I knew someone would come to say that about tech death but then again why not include them? because technical metal bands are added as well and where the hell would they go? The only bands that have trouble with being truly technical are the bands that mix brutal death with tech death mostly. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 21:48, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hud and Saleh

[edit]

I have reverted your addition of the reference in the article in Hud (prophet) and Saleh, as using the Iqan as a vague primary source is not appropriate. For example the statement from the Iqan that "And after Noah the light of the countenance of Hud shone forth above the horizon of creation" to mean that Hud was a Manifestation of God depends on an interpretation, which as individual editors we cannot do as that would be original research. Instead you need to find a secondary source that states that those verses imply that Hud and Saleh were Manifestations of God. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 15:17, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately your reasoning is original research and not permissible in Wikipedia, especially that some sort of implication is based by reading the whole book: "Drawing conclusions not evident in the reference is original research regardless of the type of source." The sort of implication that you are drawing is definitely not clear to me. It is not the role of individual editors to make these decisions on interpretation, but find secondary sources that clearly state that there is that interpretation. From the no original research policy page states: "Any interpretation of primary source material requires a reliable secondary source for that interpretation." Note that all of Baha'u'llah's writings are primary sources.
I have tried to find a reliable source that states that Hud and Salih are Manifestations, and I have found none. There are non-reliable sources like this one, but those are not permissible. The Concise Encyclopedia of the Baha'i Faith by Peter Smith just states that Hud and Salih are Islamic prophets. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 14:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can disagree, but it's against Wikipedia policy as pointed above. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 17:16, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to leave the fact tags for a couple days for any other editors who may be interested such as Koavf, to find any secondary sources (if they exist) and then remove the statements and the category if none had been found. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 18:19, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Fight the feeling.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Fight the feeling.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:21, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

John Christie (murderer)

[edit]

Hello there. I've requested a peer review for the article on John Christie (murderer) and I'm looking for feedback from people interested in serial killers. John Christie was a British serial killer from the 1940s and 50s who murdered a number of women but was also controversially involved in another murder trial, where he gave what's now considered perjured evidence against a fellow tenant. The case generated a lot of controversy in the UK. I'm hoping to turn the article into a featured article, so I'm looking for any comments about potential problems or if there's anything that needs improving. The peer review is available here. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Managerpants! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Nils Patrik Johansson - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Better source request for File:Into treason.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Into treason.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:28, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Into Treason

[edit]

The article Into Treason has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references (Allmusic merely confirms song exists), no claim of notability, fails WP:NSONG and WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
