Mackensen,
For a Father's Day gift, I've helped my father (David) digitize and upload railroad-related slides that he and his (late) father (Lawrence) took, mostly in the 1960s and 1970s. He generously agreed to release their rights under a CC-BY-SA license when we uploaded them to Flickr, which has allowed me to essentially port them to Wikimedia Commons. While it will probably take me a couple of days to upload all of them on Commons (I've just started), I have created a hidden category in which they will all be filed: commons:Category:Photographs by Lawrence and David Barera.
I know from your numerous and helpful edits of my own person railroad-related photos that you are very good at identifying locomotives, and I'd love to categorize these images more specifically than "E-unit", "F-unit", "Geep", and "Alco". My Dad was really helpful with identifying locations and (with the aid of a box of old timetables) even specific trains, but he's not so sure about the locomotives (although he's suspicious that there are a lot of EMD E7s, F7s, and GP7s/GP9s in these photos). I'd really appreciate any help you can give me with categorizing these photos, especially in terms of locomotives. Thanks!
Michael Barera (talk) 02:17, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Michael, that's an amazing gift to your father. I'd be happy to assist with categorizing the images. Best, Mackensen (talk) 02:43, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
- Update: I've now completely finished populating Category:Photographs by Lawrence and David Barera from its counterpart on Flickr. Thank you so much for all of your categorization improvements (and description corrections). I really, really appreciate it. Also, I realize that some of the photos that I have categorized under Category:EMD diesel locomotives might be very difficult or even impossible to categorize more specifically (for example, the Union Pacific, Northern Pacific, and [especially] Ann Arbor and Great Northern photos). If these images cannot be categorized more specifically, do you it might be a good idea to remove the EMD diesel locomotives category and just keep the [railroad name] diesel locomotives category? Just a thought. I noticed how well the EMD diesel locomotives category has been maintained and I don't want to ruin all that work. Thanks again for everything, and take care! Michael Barera (talk) 01:50, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- You're more than welcome; I was delighted to work on them. There are some real gems in there, like our first actual picture of an EMD F2. I thought we'd never have one! I think it's okay to keep them in the EMD category if we're really sure it's an EMD product. We'll just want to make sure the "unidentified locomotives" category is present as well. I've tried to identify the remaining unidentified locomotives as best I can in my sandbox, mostly with the aid of roster lists. I've never tried doing this before, so I'd love your opinion (and hopefully confirmation) on my preliminary identifications before I make any edits. Thanks! Thank you so much for all your help categorizing the railroad-related photographs taken by Lawrence and David Barera, in addition to countless other rail photos. Please accept this barnstar as a small token of my appreciation. I know that categorization and recategorization are sometimes overlooked contributions on Wikimedia Commons, but I really, really do appreciate all of the hard work you've done that makes it easier for everyone to find and use all of these wonderful rail photos. I apprrecite your looking at the DYK. You brought forward a few concerns:
- There's a close paraphrasing issue; the second sentence of the history section (starting from ...repurchased) is an almost direct quote from Hollywood Story.
- > Addressed and better citation added.
- The start of the third paragraph ("In July 1993...") is ungrammatical and partially unreferenced;
- > Grammar corrected and citations added.
- I can find no reference to John Calley in A New Pot of Gold and it's unclear to me who he's replacing (or if he was in fact replaced).
- > Replaced citation with one informing that Crédit Lyonnais replaced Ladd with Mancuso and that it was Mancuso who brought Calley in as head of the reborn UA.
- It would help verification if you used with book sources but that's a personal preference.
- > This is something I will have to consider for future instance.
- There's another close paraphrasing issue with Kerkorian's 1996 repurchasing and with the boosting of the MGM film library.
- > Addressed and rephrased
- I couldn't verify that MGM/UA Home Video lasted until 2004, and it's not clear to me how that related to the rest of the narrative.
- > Removed as unrelated
- a hook focusing on Parretti's questionable background might be more eye-catching
- > While a hook focusing on Parretti's legal problems could be interesting, I do not wish to create a hook that could in any ways be thought a BLP problem. That, and it is not the focus of the article.
Thanks, again. Schmidt, Michael Q. 02:42, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Articles for deletion/2014 Spring, Texas shooting
[edit]Hi there. Thanks for your help with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2014 Spring, Texas shooting. I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but it appears that one of the contributors used a confirmed sockpuppet to add a comment (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Benbuff91). My understanding has been that "those accounts that have been confirmed by CheckUser are normally blocked", per WP:SPI/AI. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:19, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Interesting. I don't know the community's views now but when I still had the checkuser permission blocking was left up to an uninvolved administrator in these types of cases (as opposed to outright vandalism). If it were up to me I'd give Benbuff91 a warning and indef Olaf, since Olaf's opinion didn't influence the close and he (Olaf) hasn't fiddled with the article itself. Hi there. I left you a message here regarding an AfD you had closed. Now it appears that User:Fuutil, who voted on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2014 Spring, Texas shooting, was also a sockpupper, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Corporate Raider. That means two keep votes, plus one positive comment, were made by one sockmaster. Could you re-open the debate, or re-nominate the article for deletion? This was not a fair AfD discussion. Thanks! Magnolia677 (talk) 21:23, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Permission to move "Parlor car" into the mainspace.
[edit]Hello. I would like to briefly ask your permission to move your userspace article, "Parlor car," into Wikipedia's mainspace. I noticed that the article was started in 2009, and last edited in September of 2013. Since it took you almost five years to bring the article to its current state — which, admittedly, is not very big on content — and the fact that you haven't worked on it in almost a year, leads me to believe that the article would be in better hands in the mainspace, where all editors can collaborate on it to bring it up to a worthy state.
Also, when you search "Parlor car" on Google, your userified article is the fourth result. For obvious reasons, I do not believe having a userspace article in such a prominent position — in what might be a fairly common search query — is all that good for Wikipedia's public image.
Thus, I believe the article in question would benefit greatly from being moved into the mainspace as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time. Biglulu (talk) 07:26, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Broadway Limited
[edit]I notice that you commenced a Good Article nomination for Broadway Limited. I have actually contributed to the article on a limited basis and its talk page. Would it be untoward or against some rule if I did the review? I'm not sure I can at this time, but I'd like to if I can find the time and if someone doesn't get there before me, as I actually rode the Broadway Limited a couple of times some years ago and have great affection for it. Given my interest I'm torn between fixing the article and reviewing it. I actually attempted to do the former and had difficulty locating sources. Coretheapple (talk) 17:43, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- I think it would be fine if you did the review. Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations/Instructions#Reviewing specifies "not be the nominator and not have made significant contributions to the article prior to the review"; looking at the history you added mention of Amtrak-era Slumbercoaches which I rewrote anyway. I'd welcome your input as someone with direct experience with the Broadway; I never had a chance to ride it myself. If you're still not entirely comfortable reviewing the article we could go through the Wikipedia:Peer review process instead. Best, Mackensen (talk) 18:03, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your swift reply. If my previous involvement is OK, I guess my only concern is awkwardness from inexperience, as I have never done a GAN review before, and I am overdue and morally obligated to do one per GA practice. I will review the guide that you mention and decide. Broadway Limited was quite a train. I remember the fare: something like $57, including Slumbercoach accomodations! Coretheapple (talk) 18:08, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- I understand completely; with some trepidation I started my first GA review a couple days ago: Talk:1761 Milestone/GA1. There's a first time for everyone I guess. $57 for a Slumbercoach! I'd take that in a heartbeat! Not that I don't appreciate a roomette on the Capitol Limited...Mackensen (talk) 18:33, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
- You know, you just jogged my memory about the Limited. I think that they had roomettes as well as Slumbercoaches. But it's been a few years so it may be a false memory. As for the GAN, I feel a lot better as I see you've been around a while. Coretheapple (talk) 18:41, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

Amtrak Page Changes
[edit]Hi! I understand that you believe that there was no justified reason for me to remove such large portions of the Amtrak article from the section titled Operations and Services but I would like to inform you that I have moved nearly all of the original content to the more appropriate Amtrak Trains and Services page. I feel that it will be much easier in the future for users to find the information pertaining to Amtrak's trains and services now that it has been separated into a dedicated Wikipedia page and it has also helped to reduce the size of the main Amtrak article, which seems to have become a little overwhelming in size.
I do understand that seemingly removing 1/3 of the pages content could be misconstrued as vandalism, but I assure you that if you visit the Amtrak Trains and Services page, you will find what was originally on the Amtrak page, word for word.
--Cmitchellichs (talk) 23:12, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
- You made an immense change to a highly trafficked page without seeking the input of others. Consensus is the lifeblood of Wikipedia; ignoring that others may have other thoughts is careless at best and rude at worst. If that much content is to be moved to a separate page - something which I think is a terrible idea, incidentally - then there needs to be consensus. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 23:33, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
I have reverting the undoings on my work on the "Amtrak Trains and Services" page and renamed it to "Amtrak Trains, Operations, and Services." I have also opened a discussion on the talk page for the original Amtrak article in order to appeal to the community so that I may remove the information once more, but for now, my work on that page has been undone once more. The discussion explains my reasonings and I hope that you will take it into consideration.
I request that you refrain from undoing my work on the "Amtrak Trains, Operations, and Services" so that the community can visibly see what I would like to accomplish. I assure you that the information holds a relevant space there.

@Cmitchellichs: so that there's no misunderstanding, I reverted you once and did not regard your change as vandalism (as I indicated in my edit summary). Rather, I saw you make a bold change and decided to revert it because I thought discussion was necessary. Please see WP:BRD for more information. Best, Mackensen (talk) 12:15, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Precious again
[edit]trains
Thank you, pioneer of Wikipedia with an "abiding love for the idea of open encyclopedia edited by everyone", for quality articles on trains, such as Pennsylvanian and Hi-Level, for offering high-level arbitration, for countering vandalism and uploading peaceful pictures, for overcoming the moment in which you "ask just why", - repeating: you are an awesome Wikipedian (22 September 2007, 6 January 2009)!
"Come, walk with me", says the beautiful poem you received in 2007. It's one of these "moments" for me, did you know? (The other was in 2011.) Walk where? Go on strike? That would be exactly what some would love. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:30, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Typo in Streamliners (Illinois Terminal Railroad)
[edit]I saw a typo in this article. I am not sure how to fix it so I thought I'd tell you and you can fix it. The word "teasing" is obviously wrong. -GroveGuy (talk) 16:43, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
- @GroveGuy: actually that's the intended word. It was "teased" in the sense of a teaser trailer: the IT advertised that the streamliners were coming. Mackensen (talk) 16:49, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Twilight Shoreliner
[edit]Why did you add an "unreliable source" tag to my citations of the Twilight Shoreliner in the film 'My, Myself, and Irene'? I feel I have made a good faith effort to provide plenty of visual confirmation of the train in that movie. I thought it was pretty cool that the train and its extremely picturesque route figures so prominently in that film. Can you think of another popular movie in the past 15 years in which an Amtrak sleeper train is involved to such a degree? I can't. I thought it was worth mentioning this in the article, especially since this train is no longer in operation and 'Me, Myself, and Irene' is probably the single best visual record of it that exists at the present time. You get to see the whole train in action, exteriors and interiors, and both sleepers and coach. This is a worthy addition to the article. What's unreliable about it?
Adkisaac (talk) 12:32, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- I've explained my position at Talk:Twilight Shoreliner#In popular culture. I'd like to see this information in the article, although I think a single sentence is probably sufficient. I look forward to continuing this conversation there. Mackensen (talk) 12:35, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
Here's a tip for you....
[edit]...never try to bring an article to GA status without having the primary author on board. You and your partner have had your way because I was undergoing a medical procedure, but I back, and I am not going to allow the two of youto ruin the article. The article is in good shape, it doesn't need some bureaucratic stamp of approval to be "good". BMK (talk) 22:45, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- Well, to be honest I didn't know that you were the primary author. Most GAs I've run across are self-nominations (mine are, with one exception). If I had I might well have stayed away because I find it unpleasant to edit articles when you assert ownership. I don't know Epicgenius and to the best of my knowledge have never interacted with him before. I was alerted to the GA nomination as a member of WP:TRAINS, and decided to firm up the referencing (which was in good shape, but needed polishing) and standardize the formatting. I hope you'll address my points on the talk page. This is a collaborative project, not a battleground. Mackensen (talk) 22:52, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- I note that you reverted an addition I made to the Good Articles Summary page. Since we are in a dispute concerning a good article, I do not think this was an appropriate action on your part. I have restored the addition, and I ask that you allow it to remain in place. If another, neutral, editor decides to delete it, so be it. I also assume that, as an admin, you will not WP:Canvass other editors to bring this situation to their attention. Thanks, BMK (talk) 07:01, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Mackensen: Actually, I think we interacted in Talk:Parkside Avenue (BMT Brighton Line) in November 2013. Incidentally, during the week I was blocked with edit-warring with BMK. Epicgenius (talk) 02:27, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hey BMK, I am trying to work with you, not against you. I don't know what "partnership" you are talking about. Also, I'm the second primary author, mind you, so I should get a significant say in the matter. And finally, I am a member of both WPNYC and WPTRAINS, so putting the pieces all together, this is not meatpuppetry, but cooperation. Of course, if you're still having hard feelings from 10 months ago, I can do the GA improvements all by myself, but I'd rather not have that. Epicgenius (talk) 02:31, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
@Beyond My Ken:: regarding GA summary page, I reverted what I saw as a bold edit on your part for which I thought you should get consensus. That's how WP:BRD works, as you well know. I have no idea how a discussion on an article, which has been nominated for GA status, has any bearing of this. I have opened a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Good articles which is what you should have done in the first place. Mackensen (talk) 10:52, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

Just curious
[edit]I'm still learning the ropes. On the Jasmine Johnson article. Why not CSD? Nothing here says "she is notable because". It just gives her job description, which is that of Assistant Professor. —Gaff ταλκ 23:13, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- This is perhaps splitting hairs on my part, but I think a professor who has published is potentially notable and that a longer review period is justified. Articles at CSD get processed so quickly that almost no one save the creator, the nominator, and the reviewing administrator ever see them. Mackensen (talk) 23:20, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, makes sense. I think I will take advantage more of the PROD process in the future. AfD seems way too backlogged. —Gaff ταλκ 00:06, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

The Turboliner article looks great on the main page today! I just called my Dad to inform him about it, and he is pretty excited that a photo from his and his father's collection is featuring so prominently in the article. Also, I'm personally very excited to see such an interesting bit of Amtrak history now at the Good Article level. Thanks so much for all your time and effort on the article. Take care! Michael Barera (talk) 16:49, 18 December 2014 (UTC) |
- @Michael Barera: Thanks so much, I really appreciate your kindness. Getting Turboliner up to GA was a long, involved process; certainly the most time-consuming of the six GAs I've contributed to. Of those six this is the one I'm most proud of. I think when I started out half the sources were forum postings and about two-thirds was unsourced altogether. I was delighted to use your father's photograph for the article; that collection was a wonderful and unexpected opportunity and I'm glad I played a role in its curation, however small. All the best, and thanks again, Mackensen (talk) 19:18, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

- Because it doesn't belong there. Content from AfDs shouldn't be copy-pasted to talk pages. Note that it's linked from Talk:Douglas Campbell (Michigan politician). Mackensen (talk) 23:05, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Disruptive editing to Overland Limited article by Tim Zukas and his IP sockpuppets
[edit]I have again reverted (which you have also done numerous times) the massive unexplained deletions of material and sources added in recent weeks by both you and me to the "Overland Limited" article that you created last summer that have been disruptively made multiple times by user Tim Zukas with both his user account and under multiple IP sockpuppet addresses. All of ths IP sockpuppets geolocate to Oakland, CA, the Berkeley Public Library, and the University of California (Berkeley) to which Zukas is listed as a small financial contributor to the Bancroft Library there and which he has used to make similar disruptive edits to other transportation related articles such as Boeing 314 and Braniff International Airways. As with those articles, the deletions made by this user to the Overland Limited article all violate WP:PRESERVE, WP:UNRESPONSIVE and WP:CAUTIOUS. This user has a long demonstrated history over a period of several years of engaging in this type of disruptive editing as it revealed in multiple warnings and complaints against him posted in his talk page. As you are a WP sysop and have also served in other administrative capacities in the project, you have much more experience in dealing with stopping this type of disruptive behavior by editors such as this one than I do. It seems to me that the time has come to find a way do so as it is now clear that this user has no intention of ceasing his disruptive behavior and I am getting tired (as I am sure you are) of having to constantly revert his massive unexplained deletions. Thanks. Centpacrr (talk) 14:24, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- I tend to agree with you, unfortunately. It's draining dealing with this kind of behavior. I'm thinking about asking for page protection so that we can all take a break and perhaps discuss on the talk page (novelty). If nothing else, I need to finish up what I was planning with Budd Rail Diesel Car before I have to return the books. Best, Mackensen (talk) 17:10, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- Agree. I and many other editors have had these annoying long running circular "fights" with this multiple sockpuppet user before in many other articles. They are indeed draining. Centpacrr (talk) 17:55, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- As user "Zukas" has apparently decided to ignore the dispute resolution process and instead once again massively altered the article without explanation, I decided to delete all the images, new text, references, sources and citations that I added to it over the past several weeks and revert it to the status quo ante before I made any contributions and move on to other things rather than waste anymore of my time dealing in yet another article with this blindly disruptive editor who has no interest in dealing collegially with the rest of the WP community. Centpacrr (talk) 13:49, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
LTA opened on user "Tim Zukas"
[edit]Please see Wikipedia:Long-term abuse: Tim Zukas which I have just been advised was created today by another editor relating to the very issue under discussion about the Overland Limited article. Centpacrr (talk) 01:40, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Advice requested about troublesome user on GTR articles
[edit]Since you're both an admin and experienced with railroad articles, I'd appreciate if you could check out User talk:Secondarywaltz#Grand Trunk Stations. A user (Captain Thor) has repeatedly added external links to Grand Trunk Railway station articles in northern New England and refuses to listen to explanations; when I tried to point out that that was what categories are for, they started messing with categories in a way that strikes me as malicious. I'm not sure if they're actually a bad apple, or just in need of some perspective on how station articles are laid out and categories work. Thanks, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:04, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- This is being taken out of context. I did not initiate or add any external links to Grand Trunk Railway stations. The links were there for 2-3 years before someone started to mess with them. As for the categories, I did not play with them, others started changing them and I had nothing to do with it.--Captain Thor (talk) 18:41, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
I'm afraid our friend from Oakland has gone right back to his old practice or making unexplained mass deletions of material and sources in the Overland Limited article despite all the effort to deal with his challenges in the Dispute Resolution Forum. I can't fight these wholesale attacks on my own so please give me a hand. Centpacrr (talk) 19:19, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Bizarre. I'll start working on an ANI report and ask that he be topic-banned. Mackensen (talk) 21:05, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, Mackensen. I hope this works but I (and many others) have been dealing with this particular disuptive user in a variety of articles now for several years and he always engages in the same practice. I am fully expecting him to soon move on the article on the City of San Francisco next, an article to which I have been making considerable additions of material, sources, and images in the last couple of weeks and that he has already made one massive unexplained deletion to. This is especially frustrating for editors like myself who take history seriously. I have written and/or been the consultant editor on four large published books on North American railroad history in the last few years as well as building and operating a massive (over 10,000 webpages) illustrated railroad history website, CPRR.org, with my brother-in-law (a retired UCLA professor) which has been online since February, 1999. I've put in a great deal of time and effort on working on the articles on these two important transcontinental trains over the last month. It is very disappointing to have all that effort so casually and callously expunged if not vandalized by a single rogue user. Centpacrr (talk) 21:39, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- As it happens, I have The Classic Western American Railroad Routes on my shelf, I just never made the connection. I've posted Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Tim_Zukas_and_rail_transport_articles and asked for a topic-ban. It's been a while since I've posted on ANI so we'll how it goes. I think there's enough there to justify a topic-ban so unless there's a factual question we probably won't need to add much. Best, Mackensen (talk) 21:53, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- I hope you enjoy the book. It and the other two in the series were fun to do. I have posted a comment in the ANI and will follow it closely. Let's hope we can resolve this noisome issue without too much more hassle! Centpacrr (talk) 22:52, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Centpacrr: I think it's a mistake to get drawn into a discussion about the article itself on the ANI discussion. The issue there is Zukas' behavior, and the fact that he's only prepared to discuss his specific concerns (as he is now) after he's been pinned down or threatened with sanctions. The minutiae of the Overland Limited and sourcing is only going to confuse the other participants. Mackensen (talk) 23:51, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Good point. I'll move my posting to Overland Limited's talk page. His long established disruptive behavior is indeed the issue. Centpacrr (talk) 23:57, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Please see here and add your comment. Thank you. Centpacrr (talk) 17:25, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- The disruptive editing of user Tim Zukas is now completely out of control (See here and here) and needs to be stopped now. Please take this to the next level needed to accomplish that without any further delay as it is abundantly clear now that he has no intention of stopping his mass deletions or cooperating with any other editors. Centpacrr (talk) 18:47, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'd be patient. The way the discussion at ANI is going he'll be topic-banned (or worse), and then administration is straightforward. These things can take time when the community isn't familiar with the user in question. Mackensen (talk) 20:09, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- The thing is that I (and many others) have been being patient for five years dealing with this user's antics in many aviation and railroad related articles (not just this one) and his increasingly blatant actions since April 2 (eight mass deletions now including today's) in the Overland Limited article when the ANI was opened after a month long DRN indicate to me that he has no interest or intention whatsoever in changing his well established practice of making mass unexplained and unsupported deletions of material and sources while adding other speculative material without ever sourcing what he adds. This really must come to an end. Centpacrr (talk) 20:40, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- I understand all that, but making repeated updates to ANI won't move the discussion along and if anything could be counter-productive. Mackensen (talk) 21:02, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- My question is, then, what further evidence of Zukas' bad faith and utter disregard for how the project works as well as his now stark unwillingness to be a collaborative editor within the community needs to be demonstrated before this issue is administratively addressed and resolved? As I believe you can see, over the past month or more I have been constructively developing this article with a great deal of new detail and very extensive sourcing only to have it torn apart daily by this user's disruptive massive deletions. I only add comments to the ANI discussion when he does so again both to point out that his behavior is ongoing, and also to demonstrate that I am not engaging in bad faith edit warring or to be charged with 3RR violations simply because I am trying to protect the article against continued vandalism while I am in the process of developing it. I do not understand how my good faith efforts to do as well as the considerable effort I have been putting in for weeks to improve it can be considered "counter-productive". Am I just wasting my time by doing so? As I said before, this user has been a thorn in the side of both myself and many other editors for five years now with these same disruptive practices. With respect, the time to administratively deal with this came a long time ago. The failure to do so with users such as this one in an effective -- and timely -- manner is one of the things that eventually drives good editors away from the project. Centpacrr (talk) 04:55, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- NINTH deletion since April 2 [1]), no edit summary, made Friday afternoon, April 10. Centpacrr (talk) 22:36, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- User Zukas blocked from editing on April 14 for six months. Centpacrr (talk) 02:01, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
You declined my requested deletion of the Charlie Horse redirect because "article hasn't been accepted". Catch 22: I can't accept the article until the redirect is deleted. What next? ~Kvng (talk) 13:33, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- I apologize; I wasn't aware it worked like that. Deleted. Mackensen (talk) 17:10, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
UW-Templates
[edit]I am simply redirecting them to the newer versions per the consensus at Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2015_March_27#Old_Spam_Warnings. Please stop reverting and consider talking. Also you may want to view this old revision of Spam5. EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 15:17, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- @EoRdE6: That discussion, which you did not mention in your edit summary anyway, doesn't mention the {{test}} templates at all. Again, am I missing something here? Multiple TfDs chose to retain those templates. Under those circumstances, my *single* revert of each template was entirely appropriate. Mackensen (talk) 17:54, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- If you want I can do another TfD, but an admin had recommended I be bold and redirect first... So should I do another TfD? EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 18:02, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- What admin? Where? If you're just being bold and redirected then you had absolutely no business in reverting me (cf WP:BRD). I see no way in which the discussion you linked me to is binding on a completely different set of templates which went unmentioned. Mackensen (talk) 18:04, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- Diff as requested. Yes a different series, but with the same issue. They have been superseded by the uw template scheme, even their documentation references it. So my question to you is, what is wrong with making this change? I see no issue with it. EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 18:09, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, it's a different series. There have been two other TfDs which you can find linked at the top of Template talk:Test. This very change was put to the community *twice* and rejected. Now you've just been bold, and reverted. If you want to make this change then have a new TfD and get consensus for it. In the meantime I hope you'll undo your changes. Mackensen (talk) 18:13, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- In that case, I'm on my way to TfD... EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 18:18, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

You are receiving this message because you have a one-year subscription to Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library. This is a brief update, to remind you about that access:
- Please make sure that you can still log in to your Newspapers.com account. If you are having trouble let me know.
- Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, to include citations with links on Wikipedia. Links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. Also, keep in mind that part of Newspapers.com is open access via the clipping function. Clippings allow you to identify particular articles, extract them from the original full sheet newspaper, and share them through unique URLs. Wikipedia users who click on a clipping link in your citation list will be able to access that particular article, and the full page of the paper if they come from the clipping, without needing to subscribe to Newspapers.com. For more information about how to use clippings, see http://www.newspapers.com/basics/#h-clips .
- Do you write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let me know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.
Finally, we would greatly appreciate it if you filled out this short survey. Your input will help us to facilitate this particular partnership, and to discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Deletion of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/God (3rd nomination)
[edit]How is that an attack page? Attack pages are insulting things and negative unsourced BLP's. That page was not close to that, it was just an April Fools' joke. Yes, disruptive jokes have to be removed, but that joke AfD you deleted isn't close to being disruptive to even meet G3 or G10 (the criterion you used to delete the page). --TL22 (talk) 18:36, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- Well, it probably wasn't, but that's the code that it was nominated under and I didn't read the nomination as carefully as I should have and the edit summary gets pre-populated. I don't think it's worthwhile to undelete but if you feel strongly you may take it to deletion review. Mackensen (talk) 23:15, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- Done. --TL22 (talk) 23:46, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- It was absurd complaining about the deletion but thank you for undeleting so as to try and reduce the fuss. Thincat (talk) 22:52, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
