Welcome, Macarius Ibne Mito!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Macarius Ibne Mito! I'm Mujinga, and I've been assigned as your mentor. About half of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.
You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.
If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.
Again, welcome to Wikipedia! Mujinga (talk) 12:03, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Macarius Ibne Mito! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Attacks on schools during the Israeli invasion of Gaza that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Speederzzz (Talk) (Stalk me) 09:53, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Speederzzz Sorry, I will change the edit summary next time if i edit. Macarius Ibne Mito (talk) 10:34, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Only cite reliable sources
[edit]Thank you for your interest in contributing to the article Bangladesh genocide. However, please do not cite sources such as modern day newspaper editorials, opinion pieces, or commentary for matters of historical fact. Such a source is reliable only for documenting the opinion of the writer (such as a reviewer's feeling about a film).
Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (history) describes the best sort of sources to use in articles about history, generally scholarly works written by historians or academics in allied fields. Other sources may express views that are widely acknowledged as pushing a particular point-of-view, sometimes even extremist, being promotional in nature, or relying heavily on biased narratives and personal opinions.
If you require further assistance, please look at Wikipedia:Reliable sources, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. --Worldbruce (talk) 07:35, 22 June 2024 (UTC)

Edit warring
[edit]Stop editwarring on Battle of Bint Jbeil. The last 12 edits to the page have been you and מתיאל making the same trivial revert of each other. Take content issues to the talk page. Also, this edit summary is unacceptable. Longhornsg (talk) 19:53, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
Inappropriate edit summaries
[edit]Edit summaries like this and this are not constructive. Calling sources deprecated because you disagree with them and throwing around Zionist is not constructive. Also calling Zionists terrorists on your userpage is WP:POLEMIC, so I removed that. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:30, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- May I add that the current statements on this editor's talkpage, calling to "remove Pro-Zionist statements on Wikipedia, The Pro-Zionist or Pro-Western editing lowers the credibility of Wikipedia and makes it less reliable", raise possible issues of WP:NOTHERE, WP:RGW and contribute to the growing battleground behavior we see in this topic area. 916crdshn (talk) 17:59, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
Edit summaries
[edit]Hi, I noticed you removed a helpful link without explanation in this edit on World War II.
Checking your edit history, I see that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. For me, it would have sped up the process of finding the edit where the change occurred, as well as understanding any reasoning behind it.
Even a short summary is better than no summary, and they're particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may want to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your editing preferences.
Thanks! — W.andrea (talk) 22:52, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
Wikilinks and edit summaries
[edit]I noticed that you have been making changes to wikilinks which were complying with WP:MOS before your changes. You have then used types of style that are not recommended with no description of your actions in the edit summary. Please have a look at the guidance on MOS:PIPESTYLE which explains how to treat plurals and other derived names. I see that other editors have already commented about you using no edit summaries (or inappropriate phrases) on your talk page and have given you feedback on actions that you should take. [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Bangladesh Army, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. In particular, please familiarize yourself with the Manual of Style related to capitalization. In general, only proper nouns and beginning of sentences get capitalized. – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 13:58, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it.
It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Belbury (talk) 16:05, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ramu Cantonment English School and College
[edit]Hello, BangladeshiEditorInSylhet,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Pppery and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Ramu Cantonment English School and College, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.
For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Pppery}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Unhelpful links, polluting meta data
[edit]Internal links are not all good. Within citations, the work may be linked "if relevant". It does not have to be linked, and is not always relevant. The purpose of citations is to allow readers to find the source that supports the information that cites it.
I can't imagine any situation in which linking Dhaka Tribune or bdnews24.com makes a source easier to find, the name alone is quite sufficient. If the source is obscure, has a name that has varied significantly over the years, or has a common name that might easily be confused with a different source, and has no other identifying information (such as a url) then a link might be relevant.
Although The Daily Star is not a unique name for a newspaper, it is generally obvious from context whether the Bangladeshi or Lebanese paper is meant. I would only link a citation to The Daily Star (Bangladesh) in an article where both newspapers are cited, or an article about a Lebanese topic, where a reader might otherwise assume The Daily Star (Lebanon) was meant.
Never, never, ever add "BD" to the end of the name of a work. The newspapers are named The Daily Star and Daily Sun, not The Daily Star BD or Daily Sun BD. Please clean up this pollution anywhere you've done it.

- I've cleaned up the "|work=<newspaper name> BD" mess for you.
- You make some useful edits, which are sincerely appreciated. In your recent ones, however, for every one that fixes something, another creates a new problem. Editors are allowed to make mistakes, and maybe you're just having a bad day, but that is not a good ratio of beneficial to detrimental edits. Successful contributors to Wikipedia find something they're good at and stick to it. Some editors, for example, concentrate on images or categories because they aren't fluent in English. If you're great at spelling or punctuation, but weak on capitalization rules, focus on what you're good at and leave the rest to other editors who have different strengths. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:08, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Daily Jalalabad
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Daily Jalalabad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daily Jalalabad. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 08:25, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

The article Dainik Khagrachari has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The only "independent" source cited is the self-published dailybanglanewspapers.com, a directory listing which has no reputation for accuracy or fact checking. They say their data was collected by searching Google. Searches of the usual types in English and Bengali found no sources that would meet WP:GNG, WP:NMEDIA, or WP:NPERIODICAL.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Worldbruce (talk) 23:08, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
The article Daily Rangamati has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Searches of the usual types in English and Bengali found mentions in lists of newspapers, passing mentions in connection with the local press club or in lists of event attendees, and one article in an obscure newspaper saying that three staffers were among five journalists acquitted in what appears to be a routine-course-of-business legal case.[1] No sources that would meet WP:GNG, WP:NMEDIA, or WP:NPERIODICAL.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious.
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.

Unnecessary/incorrect addition of commas at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion
[edit]Hi BangladeshiEditorInSylhet. Would you please:
- stop making incorrect/unnecessary additions of commas to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion (or similar editing to this or any other pages)
- if you do make necessary correct edits, please avoid flooding editors' watchlists by making a bunch of trivial edits instead of only one or only a few.
You are likely headed for a block if you continue (I am not an admin; this is advice from a fellow editor). 11:26, 3 October 2024 (UTC) ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 11:26, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Hydronium Hydroxide What incorrect commas did I type? I am trying to remove grammatical issues, that's all. Ok, If I make multiple edits, what is the problem? I should edit less? BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 11:34, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Literally every single comma you added was incorrect. You've done this across multiple pages. Please familiarise yourself with the rules of English punctuation before you copyedit pages, especially highly-visible policy pages. – Joe (talk) 11:40, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Joe Roe I now agree that some of them were incorrect, but a few were correct, approximately 4. i have also added commas to pages, that were correct. I am familiar with some rules of English Punctuation. Blocking someone Just Because of Commas is ridiculous. What if someone else that contributed heavily to the encyclopedia gets blocked because of Commas, If i make mistakes, Notify me. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 11:50, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Joe Roe Sure, I will be cautioned during editing of highly known pages. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 11:53, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- That's what I did here. When someone reverts a bunch of your edits, it's time to stop, not immediately make even more of them. That's when we start talking about disruptive editing and blocks. – Joe (talk) 12:01, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Joe Roe First of all, the reverts were conducted 1 hour after the revision. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 12:07, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Joe Roe I didn’t make the revision right after many edits were reverted, It was not reverted at that time. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 12:11, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @BangladeshiEditorInSylhet: Joe reverted your edit at 15:36, and just 3 minutes later, you started adding the commas again. This is what Joe is referring to. GrabUp - Talk 12:17, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

- @Joe Roe Can I add a comma after a date such as: "In 12 March 2001 they formed a organisation", Can I type a comma after the date? BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 15:22, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- No, you generally don't use commas after introductory clauses in English when they're less than five or so words. It also should be "On 12 March 2001..." – Joe (talk) 10:16, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Joe Roe Oh, I write commas in sentences like, "In 1950, It was founded" BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 10:18, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- That's not a correct use of a comma in English. – Joe (talk) 10:21, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

- As an example, [2] changes the meaning of the sentence (the original is restricted to "articles which may be bundled"; inserting a comma makes it refer to the unrestricted set of all articles, and states that these can be bundled). [3] has much the same problem. The problem with multiple trivial edits in a row is that it makes the page show up 15 times in Special:Watchlist. The exact same changes in 1-3 edits would still be equally incorrect, but far less distracting. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 11:56, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Hydronium Hydroxide Ok. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 12:07, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Hydronium Hydroxide Fine, I understand the example. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 12:08, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- I came to your talk page a couple hours ago to start a similar discussion. As a non-native speaker you obviously and understandably have some trouble with English grammar. In many of your edits and stubs, random words are capitalized. Many of your punctuation edits, as explained by @Hydronium Hydroxide, may change the meaning of the sentence subtilely, which makes reversion extremely challenging. Some of your grammatical edits are just unnecessary. [4] In these cases it'd be best to refrain from making the edit.
- Other grammatic edits are fundamentally wrong, like adding commata after "Although" [5] or "While" [6] at the beginning of a sentence.
- Another thing I've seen a lot while looking through your edits is random capitalizations of words that shouldn't be capitalized.
- I would recommend focusing on the things you do best, and, as a non-native speaker, check your grammar edits before publishing them. I believe I have a decent grasp of English grammar, and still, I make sure to be quite certain about my edits.
- Wikipedia is not about quantity, it's largely about quality. If, for example, you took more care creating articles, your talk page would probably not be riddled with so many notices of deletion. fschu (talk) 13:47, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Fschu Yeah I should've been more logical while creating pages, I didn’t know many things about Wikipedia at that time, and still sometimes make inaccuracies. Yes, I am not from a country that speaks English but I did learn better English over the years at educational institutions. Many times, I think that a comma is necessary for grammatical accuracy, Fine I'll Check. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 15:00, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

DCWC closing update
[edit]The 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest has come to a close! After a thrilling finish to the event with a slew of submissions on the final day, we have our winners. With 608 points, Thebiguglyalien (submissions) comes in third with his series of Kiribati and Botswanan submissions; BeanieFan11 (submissions) flies into second place at the last second with 771 points after a string of good articles about sportspersons; and after leading for much of contest's three months, Generalissima (submissions) finishes with a whopping 798 points to take home the Gold Belt Buckle. Congratulations to our winners!
In addition to his spot in the top three, BeanieFan11 (submissions) also wins the special awards for submitting under the most countries (44 countries) and for writing the most articles about women (15 Did you know? nominations)! Magentic Manifestations (submissions), after making 16 submissions under the Indian flag—15 of them good articles—receives the awards for most submissions for a single country and most featured or good articles promoted. For their submission of one FAC review, five FLC reviews, and 20 GAN reviews, Simongraham (submissions) wins for most article reviews.
The results of the contest have far exceeded any expectations the coordinators had for it at the beginning: among the submissions to the event were 3 FAs, 10 FLs, 88 GAs, dozens of article reviews of every kind, and more Did you know? submissions than we can count! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating with us in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that...
We need your feedback! Join the conversation on the talk page to discuss your reflections on the contest (even if you didn't participate!) and help us make it better.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or ask one of the coordinators: Ixtal (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). [edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contribution(s). However, as a general rule, while user talk pages permit a small degree of generalisation, other talk pages such as Talk:East Pakistan are strictly for discussing improvements to their associated main pages, and many of them have special instructions on the top. They are not a general discussion forum about the article's topic or any other topic. If you have questions or ideas and are not sure where to post them, consider asking at the Teahouse. Thanks. Your userboxes (what is the good of such boxes anyway?)
[edit]Hello BangladeshiEditorInSylhet. You are student, probably young, possibly boisterous. But I wonder: what is the good, in saying on your user page, that you are “against Communism”? Isn’t ‘communism’ a thing with hundreds of definitions? Bad things happen in Russia, North Korea etc., purportedly in the name of ‘communism’, but it seems not wise to me, and not logical, to blame ‘communism’ for those bad things. Also: you believe “the Western World is a threat”. I happen to live in Western Europe (ten countries with their 222 million inhabitants), but I wonder: in what way and how do those “states”, or “nations” (if nations exist at all—I’m not sure they do), or 222 million people, ‘threaten’, and what do they threaten? Sure, a lot of dubious or lamentable actions are perpetrated by governments in U.S. and Western Europe – but can’t that be said of more states in the world? --~~ Corriebertus (talk) 18:16, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Corriebertus I was looking for some templates to put in my userbox, I just implemented them without properly seeing the result. I agree not every Westerner is threatening to others, No person is born and becomes a danger, instead people become it later on. The governments and government affiliates are problematic and corrupt, I don't hate Communism because of the countries that implement it, There are other reasons. Sure I'll remove those templates.
