This page replaces the user Davjohn on 5/2/12. For some reason my password wouldn't work and the new code didn't show up in any of my email addresses. Thus the new page. Anything entered with the user name Davjohn before this date is mine. MR2David (talk) 07:47, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

While I'm at it, if an administrator has any idea how I can recover my old pages I'd appreciate it. I've been through the recommended steps in the recovery page and the FAQ to no avail. Just let me know what I need to answer to prove who I am. MR2David (talk) 07:51, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you need more help...

[edit]

Hi, MR2David! I noticed on the editing feedback board that you're having trouble editing wikipedia. I'm just a beginner and I don't know if I can help you. But I know where you can go for help! Click on this: Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions, and then on the line that says Ask a question >>. This will open a question box. Explain your problem with some details and somebody who knows what they're doing will come along very quickly to help you out. They will leave a notice on your talk page when they've replied. Click on it and it will take you back to the Teahouse for the answer.

The Teahouse is a new space on Wikipedia where beginners can ask questions and get simple, friendly help. I've used it since I started a few months ago and love it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

If you need more help, click on talk in my signature, and I'll do what I can. Tlqk56 (talk) 19:44, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Several comments

[edit]

Your User name is MR2David but youhave your signature showing up as David. This is confusing. You have been tagging your edits as minor. See WP:MINOR for when this applies. You edited someone else's Talk page contribution. Never do this, even for 'correcting' spelling or capitalization. You posted a large about of original research (your unreferenced musing) an an article Talk page. Never do this. Talk pages are reserved for discussions on the existing content of an article. See WP:UP for content appropriate to a User page. David notMD (talk) 03:04, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why my name shows up as David, I don't know. Looking back on my talk page I see that it showed up as MR2David multiple times. I don't know where the change came in. Is there a place to correct this?
Thank you for your comments. I will spend the next while getting an education about Wikipedia functions.
I'm confused. Several places I've seen people write to the affect that I can correct that which I see as an error in a talk page. Please explain why my editing is wrong. David (talk) 11:49, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If someone has told you that you may correct what you see as errors in talk pages, they're wrong. Did they cite a policy that supports that view? You can disagree with what they've written, and say so. But you should never change what they've written.
Disputes in Wikipedia are generally settled by discussion in talk pages. If editors are permitted to alter what other editors have written, it will make rational discussion impossible. That is why you should never edit another editor's expression of their views. Maproom (talk) 21:49, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this explanation. I will not change entries of another, even for typos. Thanks again. MR2David (talk) 23:30, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I see what you're saying. I've gone back and read what I posted. Much of what I wrote, details, names, dates, etc. came from List of Pharaohs List of Pharaohs, but then I found several other sources which are very much different, Dr. Bob Utley's Bible Study Charts for Old and New Testament, for example here. [1]https://freebiblecommentary.org/pdf/BibleStudyCharts.pdf.
Had I found this I would not have posted my "unreferenced musings." I posted it with the intention of discussion of the topic since there were so many opinions in favor of Akhenaten, and few in favor of Ramesses II or any other. My apologies for my rookie mistakes.
