Happy New Year!
Happy 2010 Your Lugness. I was possessed by Derek Acorah on New Years Eve see here (I was a little drunk). If you don't know what I mean google either Mary loves dick or kreed kafer. Actually on youtube type in mary loves dick. It had me in stitches when he pretends to be possessed and his face contorts as he says yes that's it Mary loves dick" and obviously stifling laughter! LOL have you seen any of the List of Most Haunted episodes? It is actually quite entertaining but after I found out about mary and dick and kreed kafer, a South African jailor invented and given to Derek as actual history made me think that everything in the entire series is a fake... which is a shame as I want serious investigations! . I will try to get all of the Italian (and French if possible) films listed by year this year. Also we need to get the earlier British film lists started, any help would be great. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:50, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Same here actually. I rarely watch TV. I watch them on youtube! Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:44, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Winter storm
Do you think you could wait until the requested move is up yet before doing a bold move? Talk:December 2009 European snowfall#Requested move. Simply south (talk) 18:13, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that it was a bad title which i why i suggested the move to come up with alternatives. However it should still stand. Simply south (talk) 18:18, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Mwwwoaaaahaaaahaa!Yeah this snow 3 days in row is very weird, especially where I live. It was -7 celsius here last nigh and as low as -21 in Scotland! Apparently that is colder than the south pole at the moment which is in summer (I found that hard to believe). If it is colder than Antarctica up in Scotland now that is something! Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:46, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Edit Summary?
Was this summary really necessary?[1] If you disagree with linking the country, why not just delink and note so without the invective? The Template doc notes to list just the country, but does not say not the link them. Simply noting you felt that too common a link would have been far more civil and cooperative. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:44, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Split of Japanese film stubs
See Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals/2010/January. I'm thinking a split like France and Italy... Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:53, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Civil
Apparently I'm uncivil for merging the same information into an article about guitarists. I'll give him uncivil.... I'm calling you uncivil for redirecting non english title into the english titles. A great offense, worthy of several years imprisonment.... Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:32, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
The thing is I moved the list long before the AFD closed as the guitarist article was practically empty. I just can't see how moving the exact same info into a more relevant place that people are going to search for is an "uncivil" thing..... Grrrr... Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:03, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
Well once again it comes down to people on here failing to WP:Assume Good Faith. If people seriously thought about that everytime they speak to people they would not accuse editors who are clearly trying to help wikipedia as "uncivil" or in this case giving them warnings over good intentions.... It seems this new editor is probably in school and can only edit at weekends but he shows a lot of potential, he needs help not people yelling at him... Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:18, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
BLP
LOL now that is a solution!! The thing is if people tackle a few every day that 50,000 list will be empty within a few weeks. It is just paranoia and laziness that we are going to be sued in the meantime. The vast majority of these articles contain accurate and non controversial info than can be quickly sorted out... Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:26, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Exactly and to think they would thnk the nuking of articles like Roberta Flack was a solution! Pathetic. Hey have you seen my developments of the Clint Eastwood articles of late? I've now reached Magnum Force! Once the 70s and early 80s are done it will be donwhill from there... Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:33, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Interesting. See Rumberas film. Somebody is working on Mexican film, but is not exactly fluent in english and doesn't know about references/BLPs... Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:54, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah there is this frantic deletionist streak in people on here at the moment, even myself over non notable bios!!!. Some of the nominations I've come across have been ludicrous based on google hits. I do think we need to delete a lot of articles on really non notable people and cruft but a lot of people find it difficult to distinguish between the two or understand what notability is and end up nominating/deleting articles which most would think within our requirements. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:49, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Articles such as N. T. Rama Rao I despair at. At times I really think it was be easier to delete and restart afresh. What a frickin mess. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:25, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
I nuked most of it. Much better, needs to be rewritten.. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:32, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Indeed! I've gone back to my retreat again to plan my summer attack on the Pentagon... ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 15:13, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Isn't it hilarious that such is the strict imge policy on here that a tiny 75 year old image like File:LaKermesseHéroique2.jpg is worrying somebody that the film company might sue wikipedia. Absurd.. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 10:35, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Can you help me try to keep some of the articles I created that have been nominated for deletion. The list is on my talk page--TheMovieBuff (talk) 22:24, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Yikes. See User talk:TheMovieBuff. And we thought his earlier messages were negative! You aint seen nuthin yet! His stubs needing expanding and saving I think.. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 01:05, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
See also Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2010 February 4. The nominator claims that 4 film is not enough to validate having a director template. I'm not sure either way. Any thoughts as to whether she is right? ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 02:06, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
The funny thing is that Collectonian thinks individual episodes of Japanese manga (which as you know is one of my pet hates) are notable for wikipedia but films starring Russell Crowe are not! ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 13:11, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
what is your problem
with Police, Adjective? guidelines say Wikipedia is not a mere collection of external links, so whenever possible, external links should be converted into references for the article body. Where does it say to remove the external links? If you care about a stub, you should either expand the article yourself, or let others use those highly regarded review links for others to expand. Nergaal (talk) 19:39, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly, what policy says links to reviews should be removed? Secondly, how is adding links to respectable reviews (in New York Times and Boston chronicles) considered spamming/linkspamming? Thirdly, how is removing such links improving the quality of the article, or of wikipedia in general? Nergaal (talk) 20:07, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- Also, can you tell me from an objective point of view which of these two edits ([3] and [4]) is more constructive and which one takes more time to do (including typing reasoning of summary)? Nergaal (talk) 20:20, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Dwarves articles
If you want to take it on yourself to redirect the articles to the Dwarves main article, I won't object to it. But as stand alones, I think they fall under the part of NABLUMS that says "Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article or discography article, space permitting." Niteshift36 (talk) 10:06, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi! I think they're notable in their own right. I recall a couple of them being review in Kerrang in the 90s (odd, that I'd still remember that!) I'll wait to see what the outcomes of the AfDs are. Lugnuts (talk) 10:08, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- They band might be notable. That doesn't make all their albums notable. If the outcome is delete, then it's delete. I'm offering to withdraw the AfD if they are redirected. Niteshift36 (talk) 10:12, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

The article Blood Ties: The Life and Work of Sally Mann has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Yappy2bhere (talk) 08:05, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Film lists
I've conspired with my number 2 to produce an evil plan regarding the film lists. See Italian films of 1961. I think I can program the imdb lists on word document to be formatted straight into a table but means I just have to remove the unwanted duel name crap and ratings although the italics kept programming as apostrophes so I had to ignore them. However I'm trying to find a way to place the |- seperators in the table on a seperate line meaning they can be done much quicker. Using this process I should be able to get the titles by year added to all the film lists. I'll try and get Italy done this way and each year list should only take around 5 minutes rather than an hour. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 15:24, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Yep see Italian films of 1962. Give it a few weeks and I should have the Italian films listed by year at least. France afterwards.... ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 16:23, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Ezhiki did try to tell me about excel but I don't have it! If you could do it on excel probably easier can you do this? Basically its copying the imdb lists by year and inserting the titles into tables by year. I think its about time we got the titles added to countries like Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Japan etc by year, so evne if it takes years to start them all we at least have the scope of what we are trying to accomplish. Interested? See here. They are ready to be formatted by year... ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 18:07, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
You're Aevil. I'm having to figure it out the hard way... ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 20:56, 18 February 2010 (UTC) That's odd. Imdb seem to have changed their way of listing films so i will be unable to copy the lists as I had intended. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 11:43, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
They seemingly no longer list them in that A-Z format but list them in "top film order" by rating and also put the title in english unless otherwise see this for instance. I only looked on there about two days and it wasn't like it then... If you can find me the old A-Z lists by year and country I can still do it! ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 14:03, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I know thats exactly what the problem is. I was counting on the # and listing system to transfer them directly into tabled lists. They are not even in A-Z. How annoying... I will not be able to do what I had intended now... ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 14:19, 21 February 2010 (UTC) As an imdb user of course I prefer the new format, they actually look like films now rather than database listing but I was counting on those A-Z numbered lists to draw up the films. Very bad timing.... ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 14:29, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
States
Hello I'm still not 100% sure how states work in templates, but the difference between collapsed
and autocollapse
is that the former always leaves the template collapsed, whereas the latter collapses the template only if there is another template on that page which can itself collapse. E.g. at the bottom of Canada, there are several navigational templates, so you don't want all of them uncollapsed and taking up space, but some of those templates might appear on other articles without the presence of other such navigational templates, so you don't want it to always be collapsed. I hope that makes sense. If you need to respond, please do so on my talk. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 17:19, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Hello Lugnuts - You seem to be far too experienced a Wikipedian not to know what the call for citations tag means. The wording of the tag - "Please help by adding reliable sources" is a polite request to editors in general to improve the article with sources. I note a correspondence with a DrBlofeld about the Clint Eastwood article, which lists well over 100 references and is more typical of acceptable sourcing - especially at a time when there has been an ongoing discussion (again, I'm pretty sure you're aware of this) at the admin level of setting deadlines for sufficient sourcing of WP:BLP before they are deleted. One note is not sufficient sourcing, and your suggestion that it is seems to be humorously disingenuous. I can and will add a few citations when I have time, but to avoid potential deletion if the new policy is adopted will require more sourcing than I can do. That's why the tag should remain. Or perhaps a call for a peer review would be better - that is, if you'd like to see virtually every sentence punctuated with a [citation needed] tag. Of the two choices, I think the banner tag is less obtrusive. regards, Sensei48 (talk) 18:35, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks
Thanks for that, I have been meaning to tidy that list for a while. Hopefully now, all publicly funded FE colleges in England are listed (There are a few residential colleges still to do, as listed in the Adult Residential Colleges Association article, but I have still got to investigate those!). there are probably still a couple of sixth form colleges left to do as well, but I will hunt those down in due course. One question though, I am not very well up on list proceedures - When listing colleges with a saints name (e.g. St Helens College), should these be listed alphabetically as St or Sa? Stub templates including non-stub categories?
With edits such as this, are you sure that's a good idea? Once the article graduates from stub, it will no longer have the category unless it is hard coded onto the page. Why not just hard-code the cats onto the page from the get-go? –xenotalk 20:12, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that the cat should be hard-coded already, but it's often not. A quick experiment on the 1980s drama stubs shows before the edit there was 790+ articles in the cat Category:1980s drama films, and post-edit 1,025! Lugnuts (talk) 20:24, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- So wouldn't a better solution be to request a bot or AWB user to add the non-stub cat to anything transcluding the stubs? –xenotalk 20:27, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Go for it! Lugnuts (talk) 20:27, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Bah... –xenotalk 20:29, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- Other reasons not to do: if the category is actually wrong, users will be confused as they can't find the category in the wiki text; the stub templates get included with a major sortkey in the non-stub category. –xenotalk 20:50, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
