Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Loomawana1! Your additions to SBI Youth for India have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 02:39, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

- What is your relationship with SBI Youth of India? DanCherek (talk) 12:49, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- I am a SBI youth for India Fellow . I also have a mail from SBI Youth for India requesting me to put up information on their Wikipedia page on their behalf.I can share that screenshot if it is required Loomawana1 (talk) 05:39, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- No need. Because of your conflict of interest, you should not be editing the article directly. You are welcome to propose changes on the talk page at Talk:SBI Youth for India with the {{Request edit}} template, as long as they are supported by reliable, independent sources. DanCherek (talk) 12:17, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- So I would request you to atleast revert the changes which were made years ago as those were verified by the admisnistrators at that time like the partner NGOs and the thematic areas because there is no copyright in that. You have literally deleted the whole page apart from my edits. You could have deleted the edits which I made if you found them unworthy. But why to delete all the information from old edits. It looks as if you are trying to take down everything. For the alumni part you said it is not notable, but if you see all other felloship pages thay have listed even more alumni than us and that too without any sources. What do you have to say on that?.The older edits had been approved by administrator Dianaa at that time and then put up and now you have removed them. What is this logic of an information which was there since 3 years to be removed. Loomawana1 (talk) 15:42, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- If you see long, unsourced lists of non-notable alumni in other Wikipedia articles, feel free to remove those too. (See WP:OTHERCONTENT.) That it was not removed previously was not an endorsement of the content, but rather that she was focusing only on copyright violations, not other issues, which is understandable. DanCherek (talk) 16:20, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- What a joke. You have literally destroyed years of edits of so many people and now you have put bogus information there which is of no use. I understand that you are here to destroy the page. Please go ahead and do the needful. Loomawana1 (talk) 19:42, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

That's not why this account is blocked. Additionally, sockpuppetry is Confirmed in one of the clearest cases I've ever seen here. Yamla (talk) 17:55, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
