Thanks for your help
[edit]Thanks for your help tidying up. As you can see my intentions are good. My head works quicker than my hand unfortunately.
Just so you know
[edit]That Sodium aluminum sulfate formula page you marked as "speedy delete" for "no content" a few minutes ago? The one that said "na2al2(so4)4" and nothing else?
That is the formula for sodium aluminum sulfate. So there is content. It's just horribly formatted, and less than bare-bones. DS 15:00, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your note
[edit]It was nice to have a friendly welcome note on my talk page even before I really knew what a talk page is. :) I just signed up to be able to "mark" the changes I'm making. I don't expect to be very active soon, but I hope I'll turn out to be useful all the same... And I'll know someone to ask if I get stuck with something. See you Kissl 16:57, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Remand
[edit]I put a note on the remand talk page entitled Half an article? a couple of days ago. Since no one's responded and you seem to be the principal contributor, I'll repeat it here:
- Is there any reason why a principal, perhaps primary, definition of remand ("To send back. The sending by the appellate court of the cause [sic] back to the same court out of which it came, for purpose of having some further action taken on it there." Black's Law Dictionary, Fifth Edition, ©1979) doesn't appear in this article? Unless there is objection or some other issue of which I'm unaware, I'll edit the article to include it in a day or two.
I'd like your input. Duckecho 02:35, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry about all the edits—rectal–cranial inversion.
- > Do you have any online references for the information you intend to insert?
- Funny you should ask. I just happened to have run up a few:
First draft is up. Duckecho 05:00, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- > If that's what you call a draft, I think it's pretty bloody good. I'm all the more informed, thanks.
- Thank you. Yeah, that wasn't a finished work. I just put up my second version. It's much closer to a finished product now. (I hid but preserved the definitions and links. Do with them what you want; I have them saved locally.) Duckecho 15:50, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Belated Thanks
[edit]I am just beginning to understand a little of how this massive enterprise works. Thanks so much for your welcome - it makes a big difference, but my technological expertise was not quite enough to cope with the amount of info you provided, so I went with my second welcomer Essjay first. Thanks for your welcome note and please help
[edit]Thanks for your warm welcome, Longhair. It felt good to know there is a buddy here who I can rely on.
I need your help. I placed some photos in the Opus Dei section; one guy complained: based on his edits and comments he seems to have a bias against the photos and even the contents. The guy is a Wikimedia big-shot who has placed some anti-Catholic edits.
First, he is saying that the Opus Dei webmaster (from where I got permission to put in the photos) does not have the right to grant permission; it has to be the photographer himself. What if the photo has been commissioned?
Second, he says that if I ever get permission from the photographer, better if the photo is placed as "Fair use". My guess is that this is a way to limit the reproduction of the article.
Third, today I found out that some of the photos are nowhere to be found. They have been deleted, I think. And there is not even any trace of what happened to them in the file history. It's a mystery.
Well, I am a newcomer here. So I find it strange that despite your very nice welcome [thanks again! :-)], there seems to be some kind of unwelcoming attitude on the part of some other people here.
I hope you can help and guide me. Or refer me to somebody who can help. I hope this somebody does not have any biases. Walter Ching 4 July 2005 01:24 (UTC)

Category sorting
[edit]Hi Longhair. I hope you don't mind, but I have sorted the Australian Wikipedians category on your user-page, so that you are listed under "L". Again, I hope you don't mind. Thanks, Cyberjunkie TALK 6 July 2005 14:37 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading Image:Pentridgeddivision.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Until a more informative tag is provided, it will be listed as {{no source}} or {{no license}}. Could you add a better tag to let us know its source and/or copyright status? If you made the image yourself, an easy way to deal with this is add {{GFDL}} if you're willing to release it under the GFDL. Alternatively, you could release all rights to it by adding {{NoRightsReserved}}. This would allow anyone to do whatever they wish with your image, without exceptions. However, if it isn't your own image, you need to specify what free license it was distributed under. You can find a list of the tags here. If it was not distributed under a free license, but you claim fair use, add {{fairuse}} but you need to substantiate your claim by explaining why you think it's fair use. If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images by posting to my talk page. If you do this, I can tag them for you. Thanks. RedWolf July 7, 2005 17:56 (UTC)
Out-of-line administrator?
[edit]Hello. Thanks for the greeting, mate. No, you're not out of line :-) but I'd like to ask how to judge whether a certain administrator is overstepping his authority by pushing a POV agenda in a controversial article. If in the wrong, how do I bring his actions to the attention of those in authority, so he can be advised how to better represent Wikipedia? Thanks. --Kibbitzer 06:48, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply, Longhair. I since found this link and will look more into it and get back to you if I run into snags. All the best. administrator: abuse--Kibbitzer 08:09, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

Cat question
[edit]Out of curiosity, why did you remove Mamdouh Habib from the cat Category:Australian people? Banno 12:04, July 24, 2005 (UTC)
May I draw your attention to the fact that Category:People of Western Australia has a number of subcategories, such as Category:Explorers of Western Australia, Category:Members of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, Category:Members of the Western Australian Legislative Council, Category:Colonial Secretaries of Western Australia Category:Agents-General for Western Australia, Category:Surveyors-General of Western Australia, Category:Attorneys-General of Western Australia and Category:Governors of Western Australia. In the last week you have placed a number of articles in Category:People of Western Australia when they were already in it via a subcategory. Hesperian 23:57, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

Quick question
[edit]Could you please clarify for me the difference between your new Category:Australian television personalities and the existing Category:Australian television presenters? I admit my lack of familiarity with Australian culture means I might be missing a fine distinction, but it looks kinda like duplication to me. Bearcat 07:01, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
Template and category for sockpuppet
[edit]The template you are using for sockpuppet|Internodeuser - doesn't seem to be working - the evidence doesn't link and the category is a red link. Just thought I would let you know as I am not able to fix at present. Regards--AYArktos 21:08, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
Cut and Paste move
[edit]DO NOT DO CUT AND PASTE MOVES! You just did one on Zig and Zag. I'd like -you- to find an admin to fix the page history, and hence not break the GFDL, on this., --Kiand 04:01, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your welcome message
[edit]Thank you for your wecome message and for all the usefull information you told me regarding wikipedia. I have a question for you: How do you do this? Is it a bot which is writing messages on behalf of yourself, or is it you who send me the welcome message? How do you can recognize new users? I would like to do the same, to welcome all newer users. Can I? thank you. Round Earther 11:11, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
Re: When all of your welcomes have been stolen...
[edit]- I enjoy someone beating me to them. :P It shows that it is a team effort. I don't bother with the Anon template, mainly because my computer is given a new IP every time I log on. Enjoy the flood of newcomers. :)
Seriously, your rival. 11:09, July 31, 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, I see what you're trying to do. You want me to distract myself with anons so you get to welcome all of the registered users. That's low, man. Really low.
Seriously, your rival. 11:26, July 31, 2005 (UTC)
P.S. Just kidding. :P I might try it, with the competition heats up a little more.

Congratulations!
[edit]Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia | explains it all ® 03:38, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
