Coordinates — dec vs. dms

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia.

One thing: when a source gives coordinates like "Latitude/Longitude: 41.0594 / -124.1420", these are decimal degrees, not degrees, minutes, & seconds scrunched together. So coding them as {{coord|41|5|94|N|124|14|20|W|region:US-CA_type:landmark|display=title}} is wrong. If you click through to an online map, you'll see it's pointing to a location several miles at sea!

You can use decimal degrees, either as-is:
{{coord|41.0594|N|124.1420|W |region:US-CA_type:landmark}}: 41°03′34″N 124°08′31″W / 41.0594°N 124.1420°W / 41.0594; -124.1420,
or forcing them to convert to dms:
{{coord|41.0594|N|124.1420|W |format=dms |region:US-CA_type:landmark}}: 41°03′34″N 124°08′31″W / 41.0594°N 124.1420°W / 41.0594; -124.1420

I opted to use a less-precise location: {{coord|41|4|0|N|124|9|0|W |region:US-CA_type:landmark |display=title}}: 41°4′0″N 124°9′0″W / 41.06667°N 124.15000°W / 41.06667; -124.15000 (Trinidad State Beach).

Proposed deletion of Mass-market theory

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mass-market theory, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No references establishing the use of this term.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 23:48, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article was not deleted and new references were added. - Kylelovesyou (talk) 23:07, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Vail Mountain Coffee and Tea Company requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. This article has been removed. I agree, this article was probably not notable enough to be an article. - Kylelovesyou (talk) 23:09, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bohumil Shimek copyvio?

Hello, I think you accidentally placed copyvio in the article Bohumil Shimek. Is this copyvio? This was a non-problem - Kylelovesyou (talk) 23:16, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources Ecosystem Monitoring Programme requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you for uploading File:Bohumil shimek.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 02:47, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on International Society For Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. copy-paste move

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give 2011 Maldivian protests a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 2012 Maldives Crisis. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Addition of Antiziganism to Discrimination bar

I just wanted to let you know that over a year ago the Discrimination bar was split into three seperate templates. The main discrimination bar, the anti-cultural sentiment bar (for racial, ethnic or national groups) and finally the religious persecution bar. While I think that it might be necessary to have antiziganism in the main bar and well as anti-cultural sentiment bar I don't want it to become a slippery slope where people start adding anti-americanism or anti-arabism. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mehmet Emin Toprak (actor), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Turkish (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Normcore requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. JMHamo (talk) 01:04, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Travis Allen shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
You provided content with sources on the article however you actively engaged in the edit war. Please use the Talk page for article in the future. Thanks!

That bit about Allen defending Trump over the Daniels affair doesn't seem to be in the citation. Any idea? Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 06:03, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
