Notability of Arthur wesley wheen

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Arthur wesley wheen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —68.239.79.97 (talk · contribs) 16:06, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have discussed this on the Help page. It was agreed that Wheen is worthy of inclusion, but the page need to be signifigantly different to his Entry in the Australian Dictionary of Biography. I've adjusted the text and re-posted. Kirst68 13:36, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that Arthur Wesley Wheen needs to use a more encyclopedic tone. i have commetned on the article talk page about this at greater length. DES (talk) 17:56, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(You wrote): DES, thanks for your help and comments re the above article. I have another question: In the footnotes, there is a reference to the Aus Dict of Bio. Before the author's name, the alphabet (a-w) appears in superscript. Is this code for something, or have I left out some vital bit of information? --Kirst68 14:09, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

That happpens because the same reference link is being used to source multiple statements in the article. Each of the little letters is a link to one of the places where the footnote is cited. More detail can be found at Wikipedia:Footnotes. DES (talk) 14:39, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. it is a big project, and there is lots to learn. Don't worry about trying to master everything at once, or even ever. You are doing fine. DES (talk) 14:46, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
