Gentle Giant

Just a quick hello and thanks for your recent work on the Gentle Giant articles. I felt like I was the only one working on them for a good while so it's nice to see someone is still interested in this great band and helping out. I plan to start tackling band bio articles shortly. Keep it up! --Comics 00:52, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

Good thinking re: Under Construction, I hadn't noticed the main page was also for an album. Cheers. --Comics 17:31, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, you're right about the style. I just tidied it up a bit so that it conforms to how other album pages have displayed AMG links. --Comics 17:58, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

Moving pages

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

However, please stop moving pages this way - the new name of the page might be good, but you are doing it the wrong way - and admins will have to fix it... Look at Help:Renaming (moving) a page - you need to use the move option in the tab - and not cut and paste - cut and pastes don't take the edit history wih them and thus violate the GDFL copyright terms. Also, in some cases, you might first want to discuss the move on the article's talk page. If a move is not possible because a page with the new name already exist go to Wikipedia:Requested moves. Thanks! --JoanneB 14:49, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

OK, I appreciate what you are saying, however this is only what I did due to being encouraged to do this by another administator. I will proceed to the recommend route from now on - I try to be a keeper of the rules, just that consistency of message can make that difficult. The situation was slightly different so I wouldn't challenge the admin involved.

anyhow thanks for the warning Kevinalewis 15:07, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Honours

I reverted Julian Stockwin's MBE back to Order of the British Empire because that is where Member of the British Empire is redirected to anyway and I dislike unnecessary redirects. In general, there is only one article that deals with each honour/order and all the subsidiary medals etc. are redirected there. Dabbler 11:15, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

2006 Winter Olympics

Hi, cheers for doing so much work on the event pages for the 2006 Winter Olympics, such as Skeleton at the 2006 Winter Olympics, etc. Good work! I'm wondering what else we could add before the events, though, they look a bit bare - maybe the dates and how they are arranged? Also, I know it's a pain, but it might be a good idea to add a reference to the Torino 2006 page at the bottom of each page - verifiable sources help people to trust the encyclopedia. Anyway, thanks for the job so far! Sam Vimes 14:34, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Also thanks for your appreciation for the 2006 Winter Olympics work. I come at this a bit late - someone/many have done much work all ready. I will take note of your comments, purhaps if you put in some of what you intent say on the Cross sountry skiing page and I will take the style across others I work on. I am striving for a common style with allowances for full infomation, so of the older medals table didn't allow for "times/scores/points" etc. Just a question, are you following the FIS world cup competition so far this year? Kevinalewis 14:41, 21 December 2005 (UTC) (copied from my talk page)
Somewhat, yes - most of it is live on Norwegian TV, so I do watch it sometimes, and I've got a fair clue about the standings - especially in cross-country skiing, ski jumping and alpine skiing. Snowboard and freestyle not so much (you did ask about all the FIS World Cups). Sam Vimes 14:59, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Hey - I did some work on the 2006 Winter Olympics page before flagging it up for expansion. Cheers for the work - makes it easier to deal with the event now it's all completed =) doktorb | words 15:51, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments! It's always nice being called knowledgable about something ;) Having the framework put in place (the thing you did) makes it easier to expand, and the templates you are adding are also quite useful, so your work is much appreciated, too. Means I can write instead of having to worry about the nitty-gritty template details :) Sam Vimes 13:26, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh right, Merry Christmas then! To short-track - there was definitely short track in 1994, I've got printed results from those. Not sure before that, but I can check...I have a feeling it was introduced in the 1980s. Sam Vimes 13:35, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Re: Album infobox 2

I think, rather than creating a new TFD debate at WP:TFD, the correct course of action is to bring it up on WP:DRV (Wikipedia Deletion Review). I'd been considering doing this, since I think the debate result was a clear no consensus (the final tally, counting one extra delete vote that was unsigned, was 21 delete to 20 keep; obviously without the unsigned vote, it turns into 20/20). If you do bring it up on WP:DRV, please leave me a note so I can participate in any discussion there; and I'll be sure to leave a note here if I do it before you. =) —Locke Cole 15:27, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

I updated your WP:DRV entry with a link to the debate. I'll put together a reply in a little bit. =) —Locke Coletc 10:03, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

Terry Goodkind

Hi I posted the source of the Formula One racecar driver info on the Terry Goodkind talk page. Take a look at it and if you feel it's valid go ahead and revert the edit... or not if you don't. Talk:Terry_Goodkind --63.144.93.66 16:15, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
