Request reason:

I acknowledge that I engaged in paid editing without disclosure, which was a violation of Wikipedia's policies. As a new editor, I was unaware of the rule requiring disclosure of paid contributions. I now realize that I should have taken the time to familiarize myself with Wikipedia’s guidelines before editing. I am kindly requesting and appealing for the unblock of my account. I am am new to Wikipedia editing and I was not aware of the rule on paid editing without disclosure.

I only registered an account less than four weeks ago and still familiarizing myself with the rules and regulations of Wikipedia and maneuvering the interface. I am a new editor and I was sincerely unaware of the rule that requires editors to disclose paid contributions.

Since the block, I have reviewed and understood the WMF Terms of Use, including the importance of transparency and neutrality in editing. I am willing to fully disclose my paid editing activities, follow all Wikipedia policies, and ensure that any future contributions are neutral, verifiable, and policy-compliant.

I have now reviewed the WMF terms of use after I was blocked and still going over them over and over to make sure that moving forward I follow all the rules. I promise that I will be transparent and neutral in my editing and will make sure to disclose all paid editing activities as required by the WMF Terms of use. Regarding the failure to respond to enquieries, as the interface of the sandbox and profile is still new to me, I wasn’t aware on how to respond or where to locate the incoming enquiery messages. I wasn’t aware that there were any enquiries otherwise I would have responded to them. My sincere apologies.

I respectfully request an unblock to demonstrate my commitment to constructive and policy-aligned editing.

Request reason:

Good day, I am kindly requesting and appealing for the unblock of my account. I am am new to Wikipedia editing and I was not aware of the rule on paid editing without disclosure. I wasn’t aware that there were any enquiries otherwise I would have responded to them. My sincere apologies.

It is my humble request to have my account unblocked and I will continue complying with all terms moving forward.

Accept reason:

I've renamed you and I'm going to remove the block; this request and your comments are better than I usually see from people in this situation. There's a few things I will tell you; make sure to make the paid editing disclosure on your user page(User:Kedson1). I would suggest that you read WP:BOSS and WP:PROUD and have your superiors and clients read them too. There are good reasons for people(or their employer) to not want articles about themselves. However, if you and your clients still wish to proceed, you may continue to submit drafts for review.

Note that Wikipedia articles should not read like a resume or a mere list of accomplishments. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of things that exist. Wikipedia is interested in what independent reliable sources say about a topic, not what it wants to say about itself, or what its associates say about it(i.e. like university profiles of its professors). A Wikipedia article about a professor should summarize what independent reliable sources choose on their own to say about them, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable academic. You haven't really done this so far, mostly using university profiles and documentation of the existence of a professor's publications. It's certainly possible that some professors merit articles while others do not- please review the notable academic definition carefully. I'm going to give you the chance to keep doing the right thing, please do. Good luck. 331dot (talk) 08:43, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You still need to answer some questions, including what edits of yours were paid and what edits you intend to make in the future. Please do so. Thanks, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 17:34, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Answering Unblock Query by HouseBlaster:Thank you for asking the question. I appreciate that. To answer your question, HouseBlaster:

I submitted 4 edits so far and they are all paid edits. The edits are for University professors and Deans at The University Of South Africa (UNISA). I work for an agency and my task is to have the University Deans and professors added to Wikipedia. I am not being paid directly because I work for the Agency and I am on a salary as a Creative Director and Copywriter, who also handles other tasks at the company. The name of the agency that I work for is called Penthouse Media Agency. There is a list of professors from UNISA that I have been tasked to work on and currently, I am to work on 9 so far. Below, is the list of the professors and Academic doctors at the University of South Africa (UNISA);

1. Prof. Mpine Elizabeth Makoe - Executive Dean of the College of Education

2. Dr. Moses Hlongoane - Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting

3. Dr. Mantepu Tshepo Masetshaba - Acting Executive Dean (University of South Africa)

4. Dr. Zerish Zethu Nkosi - Executive Dean (College of Human Sciences, CHS)

5. Prof. Boitumelo Ben Semokoane

The above are 5 of the first 9 that I am currently assigned to work on and I am yet to receive the other 4. I initially wasn't aware of the declaration of paid editing. I intend to be transparent and ready to answer all questions for clarity and follow all Wikipedia policies to show that I have no ill intentions in any way whatsoever.

My task of editing and adding the professors and deans of faculty at UNISA to Wikipedia is a result of the University wanting to have their professors and Deans listed on Wikipedia and I intend to follow the right way of doing so. I will make sure I declare all the other names that will be provided to me to edit for transparency.

Once again I sincerely apologize for not declaring paid editing on my profile as I wasn't aware of it before and was not privy to the process. Please pardon my ignorance. Kindly looking forward to the next step in the decision regarding my appeal of Unblocking. If there is any clarity needed regarding this, I am willing to answer with sincerity and clarity.

Only one open request is needed at a time, subsequent comments should be standard, unformatted comments like this. Since your username is that of your company, you will need to tell us a new username to rename this account to, one that represents you, not your company. Your real name is not required, just something unique to you. 331dot (talk) 09:34, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, just double-checking that you've read WP:COI, and specifically WP:PAID? Since you are a paid editor, you will need to a) clearly disclose this on your userpage, using the template provided in those links, and b) refrain from directly editing any articles you've been paid to edit. You'll need to submit all new articles through the Articles for Creation process (you've already done this for Draft:Mpfariseni Budeli-Nemakonde, so keep doing that), or use Template:Edit COI to make any changes to existing articles in mainspace. -- asilvering (talk) 03:27, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Asilvering, thank you for the guidance.
To answer your question, Yes I have now read and understood both WP:COI and WP:PAID, I will still need to go through over again so that I understand fully.
I will make sure that I clearly disclose on my user page that I am a paid editor and will make sure to clearly indicate my employer and the client, using the templates provided just so I follow the accepted format.
I will also make sure to submit all my articles through to the Articles for Creation process.
I really do appreciate the feedback from all the admins that have assisted me through this process to clarify my paid editor status, I dont take it for granted, as I am taking this as lessons through the learning process in my journey as a paid editor on Wikipedia.

Good day 331dot,
Thank you for your feedback.
I appreciate the advice on how to send my response using standard unformatted comments. Moving forward I will use the unformatted comments.
Regarding the change of my username, I am happy to suggest a username to have it changed to.
My new suggested username can be K911, or if that's taken, I can use 4Pie1 . Penthouse2024 (talk) 07:40, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Both of those choices are unavailable due to close variations already existing(this would not be detected via Special:CentralAuth which only detects exact matches). Please propose something else. 331dot (talk) 09:01, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey 331dot,
I can suggest to you Kedson1, or Creater911!
Really hopping these are not taken yet. Penthouse2024 (talk) 23:27, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good day 331dot,
Just want to say thank you to you and the Wikipedia admin team of admins for the consideration and unblocking my account.
I appreciate the opportunity to continue contributing constructively to Wikipedia and I will make sure that moving forward, I follow all the guidelines, including making the required paid editing disclosure on my user page and adhering to the Conflict of Interest and Paid Editing policies.
Best regards, Kedson1 Kedson1 (talk) 07:20, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
