Hi, want to help out with HSBC and money laundering aspects?
[edit]Hi, I'm writing to relatively recent contributors, including on the talk page, and asking if they want to help out. I still think there's a fair amount of work with this whole money laundering aspect, not that we've made mistakes, but rather in terms of making a good article better. For example, I think officials of the U.S. Justice Department have directly said they did not want to punish HSBC harder and risk the bank losing its license---because of risk of major economic disruption.
If you have time, please, jump in and help. We can probably very much use your help. Thanks. FriendlyRiverOtter (talk) 21:43, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi FriendlyRiverOtter,
Thanks for your efforts on HSBC and money laundering. I agree that more could be done but unfortunately I don't have much time to work on it (as evidenced by it taking me two weeks to notice your note.
Keep up the good work, though, and I will pitch in when I can Jreiss17 (talk) 16:16, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Red Hook, New York, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rhinebeck. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

- Sumanuil: Thank you for catching that and fixing. I usually do preview but this seemed so small I didn't. I see now why I need to and will in the future. Jreiss17 (talk) 13:42, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

January 2025
[edit]Please don't change the format of dates. As a general rule, if an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the dates should be left in the format they were originally written in, unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic. Please also note that Wikipedia does not use ordinal suffixes (e.g., st, nd, th), articles, or leading zeros on dates.
For more information about how dates should be written on Wikipedia, please see this page.
If you have any questions about this, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia. Thank you. Remsense ‥ 论 08:39, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- To be specific, as I have been reverting multiple of your recent edits: if you're going to ensure an article consistently uses BC/AD or BCE/CE, please check that you are changing to the one that is actually correct (i.e., almost always unless there has been specific consensus to use another, the first one introduced to the article). Remsense ‥ 论 08:41, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
Remsense I completely understand why the edits were reverted for Ancient History. Thank you for highlighting and correcting that.
But I am puzzled about the others. I think the other edits that I made were consistent with the guidance that you provided. For instance, I just reviewed Ancient Indian architecture. CE / BCE is used first and predominantly throughout the article so I don't understand why my changes which were removing occasional dates that were inconsistent with that were reverted. I have not gone back to review the other cases you reverted but I believe that is the case in the others as well. Jreiss17 (talk) 17:41, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, I see how this could be confused: what I meant to specify was what date style was introduced at the earliest point by an editor contributing to the article. See the very first edit of that article from 2019—where BC is the date system initially used. Actually, the very first edit seems to use both, but BC seems dominant to me, and for a tiebreaker does also appear first in the text. Thank you very much for asking, I didn't realize that could be read to mean that instead at all. Remsense ‥ 论 17:44, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
Remsense Thank you for the clarification. Jreiss17 (talk) 19:42, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
changing eras
[edit]please don't change BC and AD to BCE and CE as you did at Ancient history. check out MOS:VAR. And your edit was not minor. please check out Help:Minor edit before checking that minor edit box. Thanks! Masterhatch (talk) 08:40, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
Please see MOS:ERA regarding BC/BCE and AD/CE. An article's established era style should not be changed without reasons specific to its content; seek consensus on the talk page first (applying Wikipedia:Manual of Style § Retaining existing styles) by opening a discussion under a heading using the word era, or another similarly expressive heading, and briefly stating why the style should be changed.
Sweet6970 (talk) 13:18, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. I meant to link to MOS:ERA. Not sure why i typed in MOS:VAR. Masterhatch (talk) 16:47, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
Got it. Thank you. Jreiss17 (talk) 17:42, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
