Speedy deletion nomination of Joshua Lee Jones
[edit]A tag has been placed on Joshua Lee Jones requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Speedy deletion nomination of Joshua Lee Jones
[edit]You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
A tag has been placed on Joshua Lee Jones requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Vejvančický (talk) 10:08, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

A message from a human
[edit]Hi there! I thought someone should actually message you rather than dump a load of templates on your talk page. The article you've created doesn't meet our inclusion critiera. Basically, there's nothing to indicate that the person (you?) is notable, has been discussed in reliable sources that are verifiable. Please have a read of the guidelines before you resubmit it, and make the necessary changes.
Unfortunately, if the person in question doesn't meen the criteria, the article will be deleted again. Thanks. GedUK 10:19, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Another message from a human
[edit]Hi, I just thought I'd let you know why I nominated your user page for deletion, rather than just leaving a standard message as I did.
May I first of all apologise for not leaving you a message here, before nominating the page for deletion - that was rude of me, and not the way that I should have treated a new editor. What I should have done is left a message such as I am now leaving you.
Your user page (User:Jj102786) contains your family history (about your parents, your grandparents). This is not really what I think is a suitable use for a user page on Wikipedia.
Let me explain why:
- If you read Wikipedia:User page which explains the content guidelines for User pages, you will see that it says:
- Your userpage is for anything that is compatible with the Wikipedia project. It is a mistake to think of it as a homepage: Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider, or social networking site. Instead, think of it as a way of organizing the work that you are doing on the articles in Wikipedia, and also a way of helping other editors to understand those with whom they are working.
- Some people add information about themselves as well, possibly including contact information (email, instant messaging, etc), a photograph, their real name, their location, information about their areas of expertise and interest, likes and dislikes, homepages, and so forth
- If you read the section titled "What may I not have on my user page?" (see here), it says
- Generally, you should avoid substantial content on your user page that is unrelated to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal website. Your user page is about you as a Wikipedian, and pages in your user space should be used as part of your efforts to contribute to the project.
I would suggest that the following would be acceptable on the user page as content: "Joshua Lee Jones, Born Oct 27th 1986 @ Blytheville, Arkansas @ 9:14pm; 23 yrs of age, male,white Caucasion; American raised; Religion:Pentocostal,Church of God"
I would find that perfectly acceptable, and following the guidelines I referred to above! However, I would add one word of caution: Wikipedia pages (including user pages) are very visible on the Internet, and I would not put my date of birth and where I was born - I'd be worried that it would make identity theft easier! I would just have it as: "Joshua Lee Jones, Born 1986 in Arkansas; 23 yrs of age, male, white Caucasion; American raised; Religion:Pentocostal,Church of God"
If you have any questions (either about this, or about editing or Wikipedia in general), please feel to either leave a message on this page (it's on my watchlist - a list of the pages for which I see the latest modifications) or you can click on "Contact Me" in my signature and leave me a message on my talk page!

Speedy deletion nomination of Howard Funeral Services Obituaries
[edit]A tag has been placed on Howard Funeral Services Obituaries requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
