As a relative newcomer to Wikipedia, I was curious about what you found unconstructive about my (admittedly minor) edit to The Tale of the Bunny Picnic. As I recall, it was to correct a spelling error for which I did provide an edit summary. Any information you could give me to clarify would be helpful as I continue to edit on Wikipedia. Thanks! However, I'm not quite willing to grant you the tool just yet, as you are quite new here. This is no reflection on you as a user; it's just that I prefer users to have a little more experience with how things work here before I grant them additional tools. You may want to look into using some of the automated tools you can install yourself - Twinkle, for example, is a common tool that works almost like the real rollback, with some other added functions. If you'd like, I can take a look again in a couple weeks to see how you're doing, and I may grant you the tool then. If you have any questions about anything, let me know. Happy editing! Please take a look at my note on the top of the MFD. There is a bot that can use the tags to bring them to the attention of suitable WikiProjects, so I would like to urge you to remove the comment that the template should be deleted as well as the wikipedia: page. - Mgm|(talk) 11:16, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for updating me on your comments. But I think this is a case where we will have to consider agreeing to disagree. I track three WikiProjects and have checked out about a half dozen others. I just don't see any of them making use of the {{expand}} tag. They all track their articles very efficiently using the WikiProject template class/importance assessments. This makes it extremely simple to select an article in "stub" or "start" class and, if so inclined, to work on improving it. The {{expand}} tag (IMHO) is redundant. I honestly do appreciate your ideas on using the tag and I doubt very much that a consensus will be reached to make any significant changes other than possibly labeling the page as inactive/historical. Script

Hi. I am in the process of developing a script to automatically correct common misspellings in articles. The initial goal is for users to have a button at the top of the article which will open an edit window and do a search/replace to correct common misspellings. When the script completes, it then shows the changes and allows the editor to decide if the changes were correct. The goal is to have as few falsely corrected entries, so some of the entries on WP:LCM wouldn't be added. If you are interested in trying it out, let me know. My initial prototype only has entries from the "A" page. There are probably some minor bugs in there as well, but it won't commit any changes without approval. The script is at User:Symplectic Map/spell.js and you just have to include it in your monobook.js file, e.g., User:Symplectic Map/monobook.js. If you are using something other than the standard theme, it would have to be included there instead. It should work on Firefox and Google Chrome. I haven't tested Internet Explorer. Kopycats vs Kopykats

I've read your response to my discussion page comment about the spelling of Kopycats/Kopykats. Since the word "copycat" has long been in common usage, it's easy to understand how some of the sources you cited may not have looked beyond the first letter before concluding "Kopycats" was correct. While I initially mentioned I could revert the spelling once I saw your response, in hindsight I think the job is better left up to you -- if you choose to do so -- since you'll have a better idea what sources you've already changed.

In case you're curious about the way the show's title was presented on the program, I've posted a screenshot at http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/6/kopykats.jpg/ This was part of the animated opening sequence of each show. I don't know where an image like this would fall within Wikipedia's copyright boundaries, but if it were possible to use it on the ABC Comedy Hour page you created it might go a long way toward dispelling some of the confusion about the proper spelling of the word. I edited the page for Holly Flax and you said that by editing it I was committing vandalism and that my edit was unconstructive. I can tell you right now that I was not committing vandalism and that my edit was anything BUT unconstructive as I wrote in important details about the character. Hello. You sent me a message concerning my edits on Talk:Impalement. The reason why I removed that part of the Talk section is because it is homophobic, and repeatedly uses gay as a slur, and then the person says that homosexuals should be impaled, and compares homosexuality with pedophilia. I quote; "If the punishment fits the crime, then the only thing I can think of is anal rape (child or adult) or homosexuality." This is completely the opposite of constructive, is offensive and hurtful, and it adds absolutely nothing to knowledge concerning the article about Impalement. It would have been helpful if you had included some of your rationale in your edit summary. Even then, talk pages are not subject to the same guidelines as mainspace content pages. In general, you can only edit or remove material on talk pages under very limited circumstances, most often personal attacks or copyright violations. The material you cited, although offensive, does not fall into these categories. Edits on Vikings

Hello. I reverted your good-faith edits on some refs on the Vikings page. I fully understand why you erased the ref-info, as I myself had problems incorporating if properly in the ref-structure and just left it as is, but it is important information nevertheless and its not a good idea to delete it altogether. I am thinking that perhaps a new cite-template could fix it somehow? I am not aware of any from the top of my head though. Do you have any clue on how to fix this? Cheers. Gayle King Pronunciation Edit

Per the Wikipedia Manual of Style, for English words and names IPA is normally only included "for foreign loanwords (coup d'etat), names with counterintuitive pronunciation (Leicester, Ralph Fiennes), or very unusual words (synecdoche)". Not constructive

Could you tell me why you marked a change not constructive? Where would I find the policy which explains Wikipedia's policy on constructivism? I'd be glad to read a reply here if you have a bot working for you and are not able to reply now. The link above which gives you this permission clearly indicates that "If there are no obstacles to accepting, then it is presumed that the new revision is acceptable." Nowhere is subjective constructivism addressed by the policy. What you don't find constructive, other users might enjoy.   • Readers are not directed to related information in the Reference section but rather in a See Also section.
  • But the See Also section links to other WP articles, not to Talk pages. See MOS:SEEALSO.
  • Comments left on talk pages (such as here or for an article) should be set off in separate sections.
  • Your comments here and elsewhere were automatically signed by a bot. Editors usually sign their comments themselves.

Bryson issue

Hello, I am Jeanie Bryson, Dizzy Gillespie's daughter. You asked about sources...PLease refer to the two biographies that were written about my father - "Dizzy" by Donald L. Maggin, and "Groovin' High", the life of Dizzy Gillespie by Alan Shipton.

I suggest you also google my name, together with my father's name, to find hundreds of other references to the fact that Dizzy Gillespie is my father. Additionally, I'm sure you will find sources that show that in 2014 my father was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, and my son and I accepted the award on his behalf. ( WP entry - In 2014, Gillespie was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.[68]

Someone ( I do not know who) felt they had the right to remove my name and my son's name from my fathers bio. This is a more pressing issue for me - Why was the person that REMOVED my name allowed to do that and not be challenged by WP? Who has the right to do that? My edit was described as "vandalism," and I was threatened with having my editing privileged removed. Additionally, please note that my own bio on Wikipedia references Dizzy Gillespie as my father! I don't know who originally deleted the information. But your addition of the information was not accompanied by any citations. It is not the responsibility of an editor or reader to verify information added to an article; it is your responsibility (using appropriate format) to provide the supporting citations when you add the material. What I wrote was in no way the Islamic point of view or otherwise. It was only completely LOGICAL. It is also written in the Arabic history studies. Hey Jim,

I had deleted the last two sentences, as I thought that they were inaccurate as in contrast to the source. Now that I had reviewed the source I still find them highly inaccurate and misleading. (ie. 'cleansing' of a city and 'cleansing' the city of armed terror groups - are two very different things.) 1. This needs to be made clear. 2. Considering the poor choice of words by the translator of the article a better interpretation is needed.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
