Notice

The article Second Italian spring offensive has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The term is complete WP:OR; the offensive described here is part of the German invasion of Greece, so much so that the Italians advanced because the Greeks retreated due to the Germans threatening their flanks.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Done. I already cited the sources. Tell me if there's another problem . Ciao!! Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 08:12, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are a number of problems: a) the quality of English prose, please spend more time copyediting it. b) you have quite clearly used Carrier's work as your only source, but don't reference it, instead copying his own references verbatim (e.g. 'Ibid pp. 742-743'). This is a violation of WP:CITE and WP:VERIFY as you have not actually consulted these sources in person. It is also a violation of WP:PLAGIARISM as it copies text and references almost verbatim from a source without acknowledging it. c) the article title is highly problematic; it is not an offensive if you start following a retreating enemy after he has started withdrawing due to the actions of your ally. We could equally well call it 'Greek retreat from Albania'. We need a more neutral title. Constantine 09:23, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I will edit that later. But I got another things to do which is there's currently an edit wars going on to a other page which needs be taken care of. Ciao!! Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 09:31, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The second Italian Spring offensive was planned for March 30, 1941 but was postponed due to Yugoslavia's entry into the war. However, what pushed the Greeks to retreat was also the failed offensive against the Italians on April 3-8, 1941 which was supposed to lead to the conquest of Albania, together with the Yugoslavs, before the German intervention. Furthermore, the Greeks initially wanted to surrender on Albanian territory but this was not possible due to Italian pressure. In fact, the Italians entered northern Greece in cities such as Konitza, Filiates, Hani Delvinaki...). Furthermore, the deployment of the Greek rearguards from Mount Tomori to the sea had collapsed (Mario Montanari, Luigi Longo). So calling it a Greek retreat to delegitimize the Italian war effort is absolutely against the rules of Wikipedia. For historical correctness, please do not make changes that harm the correct functioning of Wikipedia. 95.248.99.205 (talk) 10:13, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What was planned and when is irrelevant; what happened is. And the very sources that this article cites make clear that the Italians mostly followed the retreating Greeks, who retreated not because of any Italian action, but because of the German advance on their flanks. This is not 'delegitimizing the Italian war effort', it is following the sources without putting a spin on it influenced by Fascist wartime propaganda, desperate to claim some success of their own. Constantine 09:32, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Greek forces, as I told you, were not forced to retreat only because of the German intervention, but also because of the failure of the last offensive of 3-8 April 1941 against the sectors of the Italian divisions "Taro" and "Venezia", an aspect that is clearly ignored. That the Greek forces were retreating does not matter, it is still an offensive. The Italians lost more than 5000 men between dead, wounded and missing due to the strong resistance of the enemy rearguards. Again the Italians, after the reconquest of Klisura, caused the enemy rearguards to collapse from Mount Tomori to the sea. You cannot eliminate a battle if there are dead and wounded reported by official bulletins and historical sources. Here are some notable battles that took place from 13 to 23 April 1941: •Battle of Valle Dhrinos (Drino) 13-17 April 1941
•Battle of Lake Maliq and Mali e Thatë 15 April 1941
•Battle of Hill Qarrit 16 April 1941
•Battle of Ersekë 17 April 1941
•Second Battle of Klisura and Battle of Groppa Mountain 16-17 April 1941
•Battle of Barmash 20-21 April 1941
•Second Battle of Ponte Perati 19-22 April 1941.

Recommended basic sources:

•Mario Montanari: “L’Esercito Italiano nella Campagna di Grecia” (Stato Maggiore dell’Esercito, 1999)

•Luigi Emilio Longo: “Immagini della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. La campagna italo-greca” (Stato Maggiore dell’Esercito, 2001)

Wikipedia's purpose is to report the existence of armed clashes. From 13 to 23 April 1941, numerous armed clashes occurred between Italian and Greek forces. Just think of the assaults and counterattacks that took place for the reconquest of Klisura by the 3rd Regiment “Granatieri di Sardegna” and the Greek rearguards. 95.248.99.205 (talk) 11:02, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Both Italian and German attacks against Greece contributed to the fall of the Greek forces in Albania and in mainland Greece. The Greek forces in Albania was forced to retreat was not because only to the German invasion in the mainland but because also to the supplies by the Greek forces which were depended on Britain was running out and the increasing Italian reinforcements to Albania. At the same time Germany is rapidly invading Greece. Which basically Greece is fighting two forces at the front and at the same time. Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 11:23, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
many might think that it is fascist propaganda, but in reality they are objective historical events reported by historical sources of the second post-war period. The purpose of Wikipedia is this: not to obscure to push forward a certain vision. If a scholar goes to read the histories of the Italian divisions, always on Wikipedia, he will notice how the Italian divisions were employed in armed clashes during the "battle of Greece" or "operation Marita". But if such clashes are not even mentioned on the Wikipedia page of the Greco-Italian war or are not even reported in the battles between Italian and Greek troops just because it says "Italian victory", then it is against the policy of the free encyclopedia. 95.248.99.205 (talk) 11:36, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to know lots of events, data, names etc on the military history of WWII and of Italy, can you do the section on WWII in the military history of Italy page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E11:17:40B0:CC23:1602:D8F5:7A53 (talk) 06:34, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Done. Ciao!! Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 08:30, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Jheeeeeeteegh, in my opinion Greek occupation of south(ern) Albania should be removed from the infobox as it is an intermediate result, but if it is to be included then it should be said when it started ("until April 1941", but from when?) and the previous Italian occupation of Epirus mentioned as well. It almost seems that the campaign began with Greece occupying south Albania the way it's presented now. Thanks. 2A01:E11:17:40B0:F028:E27D:CEE9:4346 (talk) 04:53, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Italian front (Worl War I)

[edit]

Hi! I'm interested in your removal of several of high ranking officers. While I agree that it needs trimming, perhaps we should omit the trimming? See for example Svetozar Boroević, who was a generalfieldmarschal (equivalent of ie. the grossadmiral in the Navy). I suggest we discuss who we shall include in the infobox listings. Best regards, A09|(talk) 21:40, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but I'm afraid not, the Italian Front campaignbox already summarizes the supreme commanders (with the ranks of Chief of Staff of the Army, Chief of the General Staff or the title of Supreme Commander) who fought for the Isonzo front and the White War like Italian General Luigi Cadorna and Austrian generals: Archduke Friedrich and Conrad von Hötzendorf. Boroeviç commanded only the Isonzo front for the Austrians, but Boroeviç himself was subordinated to the Austrian Supreme Commander, Archduke Friedrich, which is why Friedrich is listed on the Italian front and not Boroević. And Boroevic was only listed on the Isonzo front campaignbox and not on the Italian front campaignbox. The Isonzo front was considered part or under the Italian front. Therefore, the campaignbox of the Italian front listed only the Generals with the title of Chief of Staff and Supreme Commanders who directed the whole front including the Isonzo front. While the Isonzo front listed only it's front commanders who fought for Isonzo only and that includes Generalfeldmarschall Svetozar Boroević himself.Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 07:18, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair explanation! Sorry for a long reply. All the best, A09|(talk) 14:35, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Revert on Greco-Italian war

[edit]

Hi,

I'm a bit confused as to why you reverted my edit on Greco-Italian War#German intervention and Italian second second offensive.

The reason I changed it is because it is incorrectly marked as the "second second offensive", i.e. repeating the word "second" and not including the word "spring". I edited it to "second spring offensive", to match the name of the linked article.

Regards,

PaintTrash (talk) 21:38, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I just thought you removed the word "Second" , if that would give readers a confusing impression that there are both spring offensive that failed on March 1941 to April 1941. Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 00:35, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Luigi Cadorna, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Italian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

September 17 1943 end date of the Allied Invasion of Italy, where did you get that from?

[edit]

What is your source for that? The source for my claim is New York Times, when the Kingdom of Italy switched sides in World War 2,sparking the Italian Civil War, UnsungHistory (Questions or Concerns?) (See how I messed up) 23:57, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am not the one who wrote the September 17 was the end date of the Allied invasion. I only reverted you because your are not following Wiki rules because you wrote the result as the Start of the Italian Civil war, so I restored it back with the result as Allied victory only.Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 06:42, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to find out if the end date was indeed September 17 or your edit that should be October 13. You need to dig down in the revision history and find the user who wrote the end date which is 17th of September. Jheeeeeeteegh (talk) 06:51, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I found who did it,it was an IP user, also what I noticed while searching,is that page was Vandalized a whole lot throughout it's history,I am surpirsed it is not even Semi-Protected UnsungHistory (Questions or Concerns?) (See how I messed up) 22:15, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
