Hi again! There are requests pending at Requests for rights. HeyMid (contributions) 09:34, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, RecentChanges is not working as advertised there. No time now, I'll get to it in a few hours. — Jeff G. ツ 12:00, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- What do you mean? Is your watchlist not working properly? HeyMid (contributions) 14:47, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was on the wrong page. — Jeff G. ツ 02:29, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Jeff G. What do you need from me? TFOWR 14:54, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Heymid
I wouldn't even consider the request. I can't think of a reason that anyone would ever grant him adminship, so I can't think of a reason for him to test the tools.—Kww(talk) 15:46, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the input, but not considering the request was not an option. — Jeff G. ツ 02:29, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jeff. Your input is needed on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Carolemallory as there are some questions about the case. If you get a chance, please stop by. Thanks! — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 12:01, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice. I have replied there. — Jeff G. ツ 15:14, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Using Huggle again
When are you going to use Huggle again? Wayne Olajuwon chat 19:49, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know, I use it when the mood suits me and RL permits. — Jeff G. ツ 20:32, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay. Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:16, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
- Also, before on Huggle, how come every Huggle user including you used Message re. instead of Level 1 warning in your edit summary such as this when they warned a user for the first time? Wayne Olajuwon chat 18:36, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Because the first data line of Wikipedia:Huggle/Config#Warning (or that area before the Warning section existed) read "Message re" from this edit 22:40, 26 May 2008 (UTC) to this edit 23:54, 4 March 2010 (UTC) and "Level 1 warning re" thereafter. — Jeff G. ツ 21:53, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Can I change it back to Message re.? I changed it back to Message re. because it makes Huggle look original. Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:38, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure about that — your input is welcome at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback#Edit_Summary_for_First_Warning. — Jeff G. ツ 03:02, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Per your request at WP:HG/F the dot has been changed to a colon. Also, I still can't keep up with some users on Huggle. Huggle is still too slow even when they 0.9.9. Also Wikipedia keeps automatically logging me out. Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:11, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Re "Wikipedia keeps automatically logging me out", please use IE to logout (if you're not logged out already), and on the login screen check the "Remember me (up to 30 days)" checkbox before clicking the "Log in" button. Thanks! — Jeff G. ツ 02:29, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- I've never seen myself being beaten to vandalism by too many users as I have been today. I'm being beaten nearly every time I try to get a revert. I keep failing to get a revert because I keep being beaten to vandalism on a slow Huggle. Has this ever happened to you before? Wh ydoes this keep happening to me? Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:00, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it's happened to me. Perhaps you could use a faster Internet connection or computer, possibly including more RAM. — Jeff G. ツ 22:37, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
- I do want a faster computer for Christmas that includes more RAM. Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:05, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Dear Jeff, I should have the right to edit articles that are about me. i did not write these articles. i tried to fix them, this is not vandalism. Just the truth and i have documents to back what i say.

Citation for edits to International rankings of Iran
Hi, Thanks for being so vigilant. I had just updated it to the 2010 UN report and that is why I removed 2009. Will add it now. But the source already exists on the relevant wikipage to which the list page is referring along with the table. Actually the list article is long so to add sources which already exist on wikipedia pages to which such a list page refers is not a good idea. I am reverting it back. By the way your source is here: http://hdr.undp.org/en/media/HDR_2010_EN_Complete.pdf Thanks.--119.153.3.28 (talk) 04:12, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message above and your contributions. Use of "per refs already present" or "per articlename" in the Edit Summary would have explained in the first place. Also, you might want to create an account. — Jeff G. ツ 14:18, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Block Anon Edits from our IP range?
Regarding your most recent entry on User_talk:116.199.213.14 - as Network Admin for this IP address I would be more than happy to have anon editing blocked indefinitely, how do I go about putting this in place? B. van der Wee (talk) 19:46, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- We don't block IP addresses indefinitely and in fact most blocks are for just a few days unless there's a very long pattern of abuse. We generally recommend that you block editing on the client side if you want a long-term solution. If you add
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php
to the local blacklist, but nothttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
, you can block editing without blocking reading. Likewise for other domains such as commons.wikimedia.org; if your software supports using wildcards in URLs then it will be a lot easier. However, the side effect is that it will affect everybody, not just people editing without being logged in. —Soap— 20:16, 2 November 2010 (UTC)- Rather than alienate the legitimate users on our network contributing to wikipedia we will leave things as they are then. Thanks B. van der Wee (talk) 23:31, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- "as they are" changed two minutes later, with a one month block per this log. Please contact Wikimedia's XFF project about enabling X-Forwarded-For HTTP headers on your proxy servers so that blocks will affect only the intended user. Alternatively, you can list this IP address at Wikipedia:WikiProject on XFFs. — Jeff G. ツ 02:27, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- This is the list of indefinitely blocked IP addresses. Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, over 20,000 of them! — Jeff G. ツ 02:15, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- The most recent indefinitely blocked IP address was on 4 November 2010 at 2:58 (UTC) time. Wayne Olajuwon chat 13:39, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- Also, how do you think I'm doing on Huggle if you look at my contributions? WAYNEOLAJUWON 02:15, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think you're doing well. If you have some time on your hands, do you want to count all the vandalism to this page since 6 May 2009 and then update the counter? :) — Jeff G. ツ 02:57, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'll look at it and if I don't finish, I'll finish it tomorrow. I looked and your user talk page was vandalized about 120 times since May 6, 2009. That hasn't happened to my user talk page. WAYNEOLAJUWON 03:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think that's "ever", not "since May 3, 2009", but anyway thanks for your help with that - you didn't have to make nine edits in twenty minutes to let me know. :) — Jeff G. ツ 03:26, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- Your welcome but my fault about the May 3, 2009 date, but I changed it to May 6, 2009 after you replied to my previous message. WAYNEOLAJUWON 03:29, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps this will get you more vandalism (revert if you don't think it's funny). :) — Jeff G. ツ 03:32, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- That is funny, we'll see what they'll do to my user talk page when they vandalize it after reading that message. I'll probably be seeing a lot reverts on my user talk page by most of those users that reverted the edits on your talk page over the years. :) WAYNEOLAJUWON 03:37, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

- What does Gurch have to do with User:Rlevse/Today/Archive? — Jeff G. ツ 15:26, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- This question doesn't have to do with Huggle. Also, when was there a time when you were using Huggle a lot? WAYNEOLAJUWON 15:52, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I assumed. I also assume that someone will take the reins from Rlevse like he did from Phaedriel. — Jeff G. ツ 16:06, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- That's possible and anyway why don't you put this on the top of your user talk page too? Also, will you remove those two messages about my user talk page getting vandalism on your user page and and this page a week from today because that message was a joke and not to be taken seriously? Also, Huggle is still not that fast even though I set my preload to 5 on huggle.css. I still don't know why is that happening. WAYNEOLAJUWON 16:18, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jeff! User:Marketingasst blanked the wikiarticle, Louis Posen, for which you gave him/her a warning template akin to {{Uw-blank1}}. However, s/he was the creator of that page, which is why I flagged it for deletion using CSD#G7. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 02:36, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Wayne Chism Article
Hi, you reverted my edit on the Wayne Chism article. I removed potentially libelous information that claimed that Chism was autistic; this is in fact not true, as most teams wouldn't be ranked in the AP and Coaches' polls with an autistic center. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.220.158.41 (talk) 04:33, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Encouragement of vandalism
Hi, Jeff; I just noticed this suggestion of yours... While it looks like the editor whose page you nominate for vandalism has given their consent, may I suggest that you nevertheless remove that box, since people are liable to take it seriously and perhaps think that it is a sandbox-like venue where experimentation and vandalism are actually permitted? Thanks for your consideration, ╟─TreasuryTag►draftsman─╢ 16:25, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) He's doing this because it's funny and he doesn't want his talk page to be vandalized anymore. WAYNEOLAJUWON 16:28, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'm very much aware of that (though think you may be slightly overestimating how funny it is...!), but neither of those facts about Jeff, admirable as they are, automatically make the notice a good idea. ╟─TreasuryTag►Lord Speaker─╢ 16:32, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- His user talk page has been vandalized about 120 times since May 6, 2009 and he doesn't want his talk page protected. Not all IP addresses vandalize. WAYNEOLAJUWON 16:34, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
- I know that. But that doesn't automatically make the notice a good idea. ╟─TreasuryTag►assemblyman─╢ 16:36, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker)I think you should put in the "I'm joking" part..... Sure this page gets vandalized a lot but a watchlist can be used for other purposes(hint, hint) and do you really want to pin it all on him? 0_0 Usb10 Connected? 01:06, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

All, Wayne's user talk page, where I directed the vandalism, has not been protected since 00:07, 31 October 2010 (UTC) - the protection applied in the action logged here expired at that time. Wayne or any Administrator may remove my suggestions if they become a problem, which I expect could happen as soon as my "fans" at 4chan find out about it. Per Wayne's request 02:18, 6 November 2010 (UTC), I'll remove my suggestions about seven days from that request (about 02:18, 13 November 2010 (UTC)). — Jeff G. ツ 14:44, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

If it makes TreasuryTag feel better, I am willing to add a parenthetical "(as we define vandalizing)" to form "If you are really bent on vandalizing (as we define vandalizing), why don't you vandalize here instead?". — Jeff G. ツ 14:54, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

- I also wish all the users that reverted vandalism on your talk page to revert vandalism on my talk page, too. Also should the revert summary such as this edit include talk in the edit summary? WAYNEOLAJUWON 15:07, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- It should not per Gurch and Iridescent. — Jeff G. ツ 04:56, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
- Gurch owns Huggle, not this user who made that edit. Gurch wants to make to Huggle the way he wants it because he owns and started Huggle. Also, do you think Huggle will be faster if you set your preload to 100? What should I do if the same users persistently beat me to vandalism every time they go on Huggle besides giving them a barnstar? This user is one of the users who have beaten to vandalism a lot. I'm saying what's going on with Huggle. The day you gave me that quote of what Gurch said in 2008 about how Huggle is. How do I stop this from happening to me a lot even though it's okay to beaten to vandalism up to a certain limit? I can't be challenged out there just to get a revert. I'm not special when I'm saying this, Jeff. I'm only saying what's wrong, that's all. WAYNEOLAJUWON 14:10, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't think we should have extended discussions on the content inside the AfD. Gigs (talk) 21:31, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's not normally the place for them, but this is an extraordinary circumstance, and she's not engaged on the talk page lately (although that may change with my move to section Talk:Michelle Kaufmann#Discussion_of_content). I'm trying to get her to vote keep, avoid edit warring, and work constructively. — Jeff G. ツ 00:59, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- I do not see how it will matter whether she votes keep or not. The keeps seem to outweigh the deletes and she is only one other registered editor. It is not as if she has the deciding vote.
Anyway, I came to your talk page Jeff to thank you for the yeoman service you have provided in managing this discussion. You have done a terrific job with the flow. Thanks again! — SpikeToronto 05:45, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Huggle November 2010
Why isn't Huggle letting me revert some edits out there? I click the Q button and nothing reverts. Why is that happening sometimes? WAYNEOLAJUWON 18:40, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) When that happens, Wayne, press on the button. This will open the diff in a browser window. On the right-hand side you will see the edit under consideration. If under that you see Next edit →, that means some person or bot has already reverted it. Sometimes, HG just does not get the update. The vast majority of the time that I open the diff in a browser, I see that this is the case. But, while HG may not get the update, it is smart enough not to revert the revert. — SpikeToronto 18:53, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- When that happens, this is how I revert such as this. I click rollback and that's how that revert happens, Spike. WAYNEOLAJUWON 19:00, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Okay. So, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that when you open the diff in a browser, you do not find that it has already been reverted? That you do not find it having Next edit → under the right-hand diff? If HG will not revert, and no one else has done so, you do have to do it manually using rollback, as you say. But, you can still use HG to template the offender by pressing the button and selecting the appropriate warning template. But, make sure the correct editor is on the right-hand side of your HG screen before you apply the template or you could end up warning the wrong person. — SpikeToronto 20:07, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, but when I clicked rollback, it reverted the edit, and Huggle automatically warned that user after I clicked rollback. WAYNEOLAJUWON 20:11, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- You cannot run HG from the browser, but you can affect it. What probably happened in that instance was that your manually rolling the edit back in your browser gave a swift kick to HG to process your earlier HG transaction since it “jumped started” the IRC stream for that wikiarticle … so to speak. Since you had already effected one half of the transaction — the rollback — HG did the other half — the warning template. I’ve had something similar happen, but rarely. — SpikeToronto 23:32, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Could that only happen with Huggle? WAYNEOLAJUWON 00:30, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
