User talk:Jcommett
Welcome!
[edit]Hi Jcommett, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!
- Editing tutorial, learn to have fun with Wikipedia.
- Picture tutorial, instructions on uploading images.
- How to write a great article, to make it an featured article status.
- Manual of Style, how articles should be written.
Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :
Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Endicott College deletion
[edit]I deleted the article because it was promotional material lifted directly from here. It violated our policies concerning copyrighted materials and our policies concerning maintaining a neutral point of view. If you want to rewrite the content in your own words, taking care not to reproduce the promotional language, you can resubmit the article. -- Merope 20:04, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, you can stop using Wikipedia to promote your college. (I used to work for a university department and was responsible for promotion, too, so I understand your job.) You can try to incorporate some of the information into the main article at Endicott College, but I don't think that the individual school requires its own page. -- Merope 20:12, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:EC seal.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:EC seal.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hi, the recent edit you made to George O. Bierkoe has been reverted, as it appears to be vandalism. Please do not vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing, or if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks – Qxz 15:13, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism and immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. Michaelbusch 20:37, 24 February 2007 (UTC) ==Please Use Edit Summaries==The edits made to that article since your contributions are legitimate, and because of that I'm not going to revert them. That article needs some serious work if it is going to become an encyclopedia entry that meets our neutral point of view policy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and is not a web-host to contain copies of material from your website. Hut 8.5 17:08, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not quite sure that you know for certain what Wikipedia pages are here for. They are there to inform the reader in an unbiased way about the subject, in accordance with our neutral point of view policy. Your most recent edit to this article was clearly intended to promote the college, and I am beginning to get the impression that you are editing this article in order to promote your organisation. Wikipedia is not here to host pages for your organisation. You should exercise great caution when editing any page related to your organisation. Please see this page for more information.
- If you want to make changes to this article, I strongly recommend that you discuss these changes on the article's talk page and try and establish a consensus of editors before making them. Hut 8.5 19:00, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
