Welcome!

[edit]

WELCOME!! Hello, Jaytech! I want to personally welcome you on behalf of the Wikipedia community. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you haven't already, you can put yourself new user log and list of users so you can be properly introduced to everyone. Don't forget to be bold, and don't be afraid of hungry Wikipedians...there's a rule about not biting newcomers. Some other good links are the tutorial, how to edit a page, or if you're really stuck, see the help pages. It would be really helpful if you would sign your name on talk pages, so people can get back to you quickly. It's easy to do this by clicking the button (next to the one with the "W" crossed out) one from the end on the left. If that's confusing, or if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a at my talk page (by clicking the plus sign (+) next to the tab at the top that says "edit this page")...and again, welcome!--ViolinGirl 13:37, 13:37, Thursday, December 12, 2024 (UTC)

Concerning Image:Sfdockside1_800.jpg: Please stop uploading copyrighted images whose redistribution is strictly prohibited by the disclaimer of your source and report your mistake so these images can be removed. Unlike forums, people here mind the law. --RememberMe 18:53, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The America's Army DEV team freely distributes the said images without copyright and allows them to be posted anywhere on the internet. Futhermore, your comment is inflammatory in suggesting that I am breaking the law by posting the image of which you have no knowledge of. But I am willing to forgive your offense; next time, please check with the America's Army DEVs before making such a claim.
Also, the link I provided to the AAO Tracker website is not an advertisement; the AAOT provides a helpful website for tracking game play stats, and is linked to in the game itself! I myself use the website (not as an affiliate!), and there is no reason not to provide the link to others who may not know about it. I am not going to revert the edit; however, I kindly ask that you would take it upon yourself to add the link back to the America's Army page that you removed. --Jaytech 16:54, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a proof for your statement ("The America's Army DEV team freely distributes the said images without copyright and allows them to be posted anywhere on the internet")? It is not my task to contact copyright holders, as you have suggested, in order to find out if the material YOU have updated is legal or not. The disclaimer is the only legal information I have found and this justifies my doubts. Please consider: Wikipedia:Copyright_FAQ --RememberMe 16:38, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I will get you your "proof"; in the meantime, please go ahead and add the AAOT link back to the America's Army page. And by the way, if it is "not (your) task to contact copyright holders", then please tell me where you get your authority to question the legality of material uploaded to Wikipedia? Also, pray tell, where is this disclaimer you speak of? --Jaytech 19:12, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Here is your proof straight from America's Army Community Director Michael Bennett; albeit it took a while to receive a reply, but nevertheless you now have the answer:

Now that we have resolved the matter, being that I have proved my case without a shadow of a doubt, I implore you to add the link "AA Stats Tracker" (http://www.aaotracker.com) back to the America's Army wiki page. Take the Battlefield 2 wiki page as an example; you can even find there a link to a "stats tracking website" (see External links -> Battlefield 2 Stats). I reiterate, the website is not an "advertisement for a fan page" as you have stated, it is legitimately connected to the game as the only website available to track a players statistics, and I request that the link be replaced on the America's Army wiki page. --Jaytech 17:24, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Kindga Ka?"

[edit]

Sir/Madam, I made no edits whatsoever on this site, esp. not of an article I've never even heard of up until this point. You may have messaged the wrong IP Address by mistake, though. --68.160.249.21 (talk) 00:59, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please look at your contributions page. The edit was done last year, 2010, and it was your IP address. You are using Verizon DSL and you get a dynamic IP address from them. Someone who was assigned the IP address last year made the edit. Jaytech (talk) 01:17, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Cheneylibrary.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
