This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Please don't publish a whole article on a talk page and don't re-revert again (edit-war!). I will explain. Gehenna1510 (talk) 22:33, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- I do not want an “edit war”. I didn’t even know what the term meant until today. I am doing this in good faith, so please just let me know what I am supposed to do where I am supposed to do it. Thank you. Jack.D.Tipper (talk) 22:42, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- If you copy the whole article, you cause unwanted effects. The subheadings create new sections. The cat-templates put talkpages in the respective categories. These categories are only for articles not for user or talkpages. Never add these anywhere but in actual articles. I can go through some mistakes you made if you want to. Also use : when you answer in a discussion (one more than the person before you) and do answer by using edit source and not New section.Gehenna1510 (talk) 22:50, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. It was stupid of me to even try. I will just stop now. I appreciate your kindness.
- I saw you removed the {{BLP sources}} template. This must stay on an article about a living person, as it informs about the more strict rules which apply to these articles. Only remove these if the person is dead.
- You can't use the picture from IMDB. Pics need special permissions (please ask in the teahouse for details) before they can be used on wikipedia.
- IMDB is not a reliable source, as everybody can edit this site (the same rule is in place for wikipedia itself by the way). What you need are sources like the norfolkmag. (Also take a look at my own edit on the article. I expandeed the refs from bare urls to complete citations.)
- When somebody reverts your edit please do not re-revert this. It just brings you in trouble.
- When proposing changes on the talk-page you should only tell what you change like you were told above. Gehenna1510 (talk) 23:15, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, and we all started one day and learn about the felt one billion rules and policies on WP. The best way is to just shrug some things offs and learn from it. Gehenna1510 (talk) 23:22, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you so much. Your kindness and patience are very much appreciated. Really, I am most grateful. Jack.D.Tipper (talk) 20:34, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Jack.D.Tipper[reply]
- Jack, a couple of pointers to help you with your edits. First, refs go outside punctuation marks, e.g., This is a movie.(ref) Second, don't forget periods at the end of sentences. I cleaned up the article for you. Take care.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:51, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. I do have a picture of Ms. Telford from a private source who gave me permission to use it for this article. I will upload it later (with proper attribution to the owner), but I just want to make sure that it is okay. Jack.D.Tipper (talk) 19:44, 17 August 2019 (UTC)Jack.D.Tipper[reply]
- This is not my area of expertise, but I believe the proper licensing of the image has to be verified by WP:OTRS#Team activities. Click on "grants of license for donated media", and that should explain what's needed. Otherwise, I believe a bot will come along and tag the image for deletion.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:41, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. I read the list of requirements and it seems like a lot to ask of a complete stranger who was nice enough to reply to my request to use a picture she posted on Twitter. I will just remove the image tags.
- The image was deleted anyway. Surely you know by now that learning the rules at Wikipedia is not easy, and the copyright rules, which are quite strict, are relatively complex unless you're very familiar with them.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:06, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, well... it was a good faith effort. The probability that I would ever meet Ms. Telford to take a picture that I can freely release the license to is absolutely zero. So that’s it then. Maybe someday, I would find a copyright-free picture I could use. Thank you.Jack.D.Tipper (talk) 22:22, 17 August 2019 (UTC)Jack.d.tipper[reply]
- Hey Jack, I'm back to help after your recent significant changes to the article. I have only reviewed the cosmetics. First, rather than bold "headers" like Before 2005. They should be real section headers, in this case subsections of the Career section. Second, movies, TV series, plays, etc. are italicized at Wikipedia. Some of yours have no formatting, and one has bold. Finally, it's good practice at Wikipedia to include edit summaries in every change you make to an article, even if you consider it a minor change. They don't have to be long. For example, if you're just fixing punctuation or formatting, you could say "punctuation", "format", or even the umbrella phrase "copy edit". I get real lazy and say "ce".--Bbb23 (talk) 19:58, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks. I’ll take an in depth look at other BLPs to see how they are formatted. Thank you, and thank you for being so tough on me - that’s how we learn. Will clean up later today.Jack.D.Tipper (talk) 20:29, 18 August 2019 (UTC)Jack.D.Tipper[reply]
- I don't think I'm being "tough". I'm trying to help you learn. I don't usually do this as I'm not the mentoring type, but I was tough on you earlier, and you've been making a lot of progress. I can see now that you're trying very hard to do it "right", and that's good.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:59, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Much appreciated, really. Will clean up now. Thank you again. Jack.D.Tipper (talk) 21:03, 18 August 2019 (UTC)Jack.D.Tipper[reply]
- Good morning, Jack, I wanted to describe the changes I made to the article. The majority of the changes fell into two areas: the parenthetical date of a film is not italicized, and WP:OLINK means that once you add a wikilink, you don't wikify subsequent occurrences of the same link. The other changes were more varied, changing a word, removing excessive detail about someone other than Telford (it's okay to describe another actor's role if it establishes a relationship with Telford but otherwise it's simply not noteworthy).
- At this point, my principal objection to the Career section is it has too much detail. You've done a great job of expanding the article, but, frankly, the amount of material is not commensurate with her notablity. Your efforts have clearly established that she is sufficiently notable to have an article here. I've therefore removed the notability tag. Again, thanks to you, I've also removed the tag about additional sources as it no longer applies (it would be good, though, if you could add a source for the recent audiobooks). However, she's not a "star". Therefore, what I would do is to trim some of the material you've added. I know that'll probably hurt a bit (smile), but we can't let ourselves get too invested in a subject that we lose our principal goal as an editor, which is to improve the encyclopedia per its guidelines and policies. For example, some of the smaller roles could be eliminated, and some of the detail about her appearances could be eliminated. Anyway, please think about it, and if you have questions, let me know.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:56, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. Yes, I’m fine with any and all changes, and no, it’s not going to hurt anymore, not even a little. This project has taken more time than I originally thought, and while I initially acted like a baby and was ready to abandon it, I couldn’t leave it unfinished. I am taking your inputs very seriously and will make the additional changes later tonight (as life beckons and those formulas and numbers are not going to calculate themselves).
- The audiobook sources are the Tweeter feeds of Fallon and McAllister, supported by Amazon UK - so I did not know how to source them. That line can be deleted too.
- Indeed, Telford is not a “star” (I doubt if she ever wanted to be) and mostly unknown outside the UK and the PBS faithful. But to those who know of her work, I noticed (by Googling at unhealthy levels) that she is revered, so there is a very small sample out there who I am certain will appreciate the updates to her Wiki page.
- But really, thank you so much. Jack.D.Tipper (talk) 14:17, 19 August 2019 (UTC)Jack.D.Tipper[reply]
I added a tool at the top of your talk page. Maybe this is helpfull for organizing the article and keep it easy to read. Gehenna1510 (talk) 21:52, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you!!!
