Re: Happy New Years
Thanks, and to you to. I'm unsure what we should focus on next. It seems there's a couple weapons left at the list of US chemical warfare topics. VX!~~~ 18:45, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- You added it for me! Thanks, and I also added M47 bomb, which I filled out a few days ago. VX!~~~ 19:39, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Washington Park, Chicago
At Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Washington Park, Chicago I have been requested to expand Washington Park Court District to pursue a WP:GAC. Historic architecture in Chicagoland is your area of expertise. I need some help because I can not find any more info. Also feel free to help expand Schulze Baking Company Plant.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 19:35, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- I will have to check the closed stacks as the CPL for the ref you sent. Thanks for the help. Feel free to edit the article with what you find since you understand that stuff more than me. If you want to dumps a reflist, that is fine as well. N.B. DuSable is on deck.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 20:27, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for nominating those articles for DYK, I didn't know if they would be interesting enough or not. I made sure that the hooks have inline citations. Now they do, although they are all offline. Thanks again! Altairisfartalk 14:16, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Fascinating article, thanks. I misread the hook as Project Jefferson being the whistleblower, not the offender -- could you perhaps rephrase? Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 17:52, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Using Michael C. Carroll's Lab 257 book
Please stop using it as a source for your articles. As you know it has been criticized for making unsubstantiated claims, and for lack of footnotes or other clear indications of where exact statements in the book came from. Xasodfuih (talk) 06:39, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Copy-edit/review request
Hi, I found you on Wikipedia:Peer_review/volunteers#General_copyediting and from your description, you might be the type of editor we need. 2008 civil unrest in Greece needs some attention, particularly in the day by day break-down section. I feel like it is not encyclopedic for the bulk of the article to be "there was a demonstration, some people were arrested" next day "there was a demonstration, more people were arrested". The important aspects should be kept while the small things not included. I also think its weird to have the political stuff intertwined. There are also some POV issues with the article that I hope you can identify and correct. Discussions on the talk page have gone nowhere, and I feel all of the editors so far are too involved in the article to give it a good read. I hope you are the person we need to trim this article down to include only the important aspects and necessary information. Thanks. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 19:02, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Vigo?
Is it Vigo Township, Knox County, Indiana? Already a stub on that place. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 17:16, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- I checked USGS GNIS and it is almost certainly in Prairie Creek Township, Vigo County, Indiana, which is about 6 miles southwest of Terre Haute. See here. I also tried looking for it with Google Earth and it took me to a place much closer to TH at first, but since I had followed the Acme Mapper link from the USGS GNIS page and knew where the twp was, I was able to find the real one (which Google Earth also labeled Vigo). The aerial photo makes it look like a concentration of farm houses. The USGS GNIS page only has four Vigos in all Indiana (see here), so I am not sure what the one near the TH fair grounds is. I will try to make a stub tomorrow. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 05:54, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- I made a start article at Vigo, Indiana. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:45, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for the barnstar - I looked at the see also link and am not sure this is the same Vigo as the townships are different. Curiouser and curiouser. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:16, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Ivo. I see you are on a wikibreak - hope it is relaxing and to see you back here soon. I found an 1876 map of Vigo County here and the township names and boundaries are essentially unchanged, so there goes that theory. ;-) Here is something I have been thinking of - my own speculation / original research. I tried entering "Vigo County, Indiana" into Acme Mapper and got the same coordinates as entering just "Vigo, Indiana" (on or near the county fairgrounds)). Oddly enough I checked USGS GNIS and their coordinates for Vigo County are quite near the courthouse in downtown Terre Haute. The former Pfizer / Vigo Ordnance plant is south of the fairgrounds and east-northeast of the hamlet of Vigo (the one I made a start article for). What if the Ordnance was named for the county and not the hamlet? Or what if there were two hamlets named Vigo? There was an ordnance plant in Union and Lycoming Counties in WWII that wiped out a few villages - see White Deer Hole Creek. All that is left today are a few cemeteries and one church - they even turned a big chunk of the land into the Federal Correctional Institute, Allenwood after the war. I wonder if a) the Vigo Ordnance was named for the county or b) it was named for a vansihed hamlet (or even if the current Vigo is a new one, post WWII). If you search for Alvira (a PA village wiped out by the Susquehanna Ordnance) it is not on the USGS topo map, but a search at GNIS turns up the former location and a nearby hamlet (Spring Garden) - see here. Speculation is fun. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:50, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
