Welcome!

Hello, Iamgymman123, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for Bengal cricket team. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. June 2011

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Valenciano (talk) 08:58, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with the article is that it still contains a lot of peacock terms and still needs reliable sources per WP:V. Valenciano (talk) 10:46, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pseudonym (Indian Band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Porturology (talk) 12:57, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Your signature is nearly 900 characters long, which is far, far too long. Please read Wikipedia:SIG, particularly Wikipedia:SIG#Length. 255 characters is a maximum. Incidentally, having {{time}} inside your signature is a bad idea, because it will update every time the page is saved, instead of indicating properly when you left your comment. Regards, --BencherliteTalk 15:18, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 02:03, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Kolkata

[edit]

Iamgymman123, That's not an old data. It is the official figure for the provisional population of Kolkata released by the Govt. of India. Wikipedia can't be used as a source. List of most populous cities in India is just an estimate made by World gazetteer. --Commander (Ping Me) 10:00, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's okay. Happy editing! --Commander (Ping Me) 10:10, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, WikiGuitarist. You have new messages at WP:REFUND.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Thanks for your note on my talk page regarding the article Kolkata. Below is my suggestion to both User:Kkm010 and User:Iamgymman123:

Please refrain from initiating an edit war on the Kolkata article. I would recommend that both of you first discuss your difference on the Talk:Kolkata page and agree upon your edits through Wikipedia:Consensus. Please discuss the issues in the article's talk page instead of your user_talk pages so that other users can participate as well. Please make your edits to the main article only when you have agreed upon the changes through discussion and consensus. Feel free to invite other users for comments/opinions. In the mean time I will revert much of the recent edits by the two of you to the original contents of the article. If you do not agree with this suggestion I can bring this into the attention of an administrator for suggestion on resolving the conflicts. - Subh83 (talk | contribs) 20:16, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature (2)

[edit]

It is too long, still. It is disruptive to have such a long signature, for the reasons explained at the links I gave you before. Please change your signature quickly so that it complies with Wikipedia's length limits, or there is a risk that you may be blocked unless and until you agree to change it. Orphaned non-free image File:SomePlaceElse-Logo.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:SomePlaceElse-Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:55, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Kolkata Meetup Map 9 July 2011.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kolkata Meetup Map 9 July 2011.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:13, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Kolkata Meetup Map 9 July 2011.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

I felt this article Moonmoon Baus is an advertisement. I never heard of any Bengali model named Moonmoon Basu. Of course there are MANY thing beyond my knowledge. Kolkata Metro Talk

[edit]
  1. I have proposed the change in Kolkata Metro main article in Talk:Kolkata_Metro#Suggestion_To_Change.2FModify_Synatx_.5BSection:_Route.5DTalk page. Someone has given a comment, but I can't understand that.
  2. I have done some homework on Kolkata Metro. The Governmental websites are not giving detailed information. The main 3 websites I checked:

Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation: http://www.kmrc.in/home.php Kolkata Metro Website (Old): http://www.kolmetro.com/ Kolkata Metro Website (Updated): http://www.kmrc.in/home.php Not a single website has information on number of daily passengers in each station, or details about the station. The worse thing is in old Kolkata metro site, the history page is HTTP error 404, and in new updated site, there is not sufficient details on history. I have tried to check Indian Railway's annual reports. But, I could find only Bombay related reports. Any idea, how detailed information can be collected? --Tito Dutta (Talk) 07:16, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Continuous Spamming..

[edit]

This article Shoumita Roy is an autobiographical spam. The article has been challenged and deleted multiple times. She also includes her name in different lists like, notable Bengalis, Bengali actresses. I deleted her name from the lists. But, she has undone the change. I also added {{db-spam}} in the main article. But she has also undone that.
I have read Wikipedia instruction wp:editwar, that's why I have not reverted her changes. But, she is continuously spamming. --Tito Dutta (Talk) 08:46, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On Bengali Theater Personality And Others

[edit]
  • I have noticed you are currently working on Bengali Band. If you think I do not know very much about the field. But, if you think, I can contribute in the field, let me know. Don't ask to contribute in a vast field, you give specific direction like ABC section of XYZ article, I'll try to do that.
  • Do you know, is there any current work on Bengali Theater personalities (which is very similar to Bengali Band, as both Bengali Theater and Bengali Band have to start from very limited budget).
  • I have checked this, but, it is most unfortunate that the most prominent Bengali Theater personalities either don't have any article or have articles with insufficient information.
  • Do you know, how to automatically alphabetize a list. The template {{alphabetize}} only adds a notice but does not alphabetize the list.
  • I have started creating an article Jagadbandhu Institution, but the article's name is not coming in Wikipedia search suggestion/auto-complete. Do you know why?--Tito Dutta (Talk) 09:26, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Dreams cover art.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the file is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article List of software companies in India, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 23:14, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article is up for deletion exactly for lack of sources. I'd appreciate it if you only add entries for which you can supply reliable sources that the company actually develops software (not just has an office) in the relevant city. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 23:16, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but the source you added does not verify in any way that these companies actually develop software, only that they are IT Companies. Most of these companies are much more suitable for Business process outsourcing in India. --Muhandes (talk) 06:37, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article on Bangla rock

[edit]

If I am not wrong, you made the article on "Bangla rock". Now the article has been redirected to "Bangladeshi rock" - a term that I don't think applies to that genre of music on which the article is. The article "Bangladeshi rock" is a work of vandalism. It does not include anything on West Bengal; it has information on bands of Bangladesh. So now, if someone searches Bangla rock in Wikipedia, he/she will get info on "Bangladeshi" rock and not "Bangla" rock. Can you please re-publish your "Bangla rock" article in Wikipedia........ 106.196.234.212 (talk) 14:09, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
