Advice to new editors
Hello, HirowoWiki,
I was looking at the User talk page of a very new editor and I saw you recommending that they start using Twinkle. This editor only had about 70 edits and they should not be going near a powerful editing tool like this. It is very easy for inexperienced editors to misuse Twinkle and start reverting editors before they have even learned about Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Please do not promote Twinkle to editors who have less than a few month's experience on the project or they could find themselves getting into more trouble and causing more headaches than they can solve. Twinkle is not for new editors and new editors should be reverting other people's edits until they are much more experience on the project. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 08:43, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your feedback. You raise a valid point about the potential risks of recommending powerful tools like Twinkle to new editors. It's important for inexperienced users to first familiarize themselves with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines before using advanced editing tools that can significantly impact the project.
- Encouraging new editors to engage with the community, learn about the editing process, and understand the nuances of content disputes is crucial for their development and for maintaining a positive editing environment. I appreciate your concern for the well-being of new editors and the integrity of the project. I'll be more cautious in my recommendations in the future and ensure that new editors are directed towards resources that help them build a solid foundation before using advanced tools. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! --HirowoWiki (talk | contribs) 10:53, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

Edit summaries on reverts
Hello! Can you please include an edit summary when you revert edits that are not clearly vandalism, like the edits on Police body camera? Thanks! Feeglgeef (talk) 03:01, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from Annbg16 on Michael Eisner (16:33, 14 December 2024)
Hi, the article claims that Michael Eisner's ancestor founded Red Bank ,NJ in the 19th century. Red Bank was already a trading post, port , & shipbuilding village in the 17 century , part of "Shrewsbury Towne," in Monmouth County. The family moved from western Monmouth to Red Bank & started a successful business in an already successful settlement. --Annbg16 (talk) 16:33, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Annbg16:
- It appears there may be some confusion regarding the timeline and contributions of Michael Eisner's ancestor. (See NPOV here.) --HirowoWiki (talk | contribs) 21:55, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Question from Lswatt (02:33, 17 December 2024)
Hi! Can you help me create a Wikipedia page for my dad who is a world renowned architect? Thank you. Lisa --Lswatt (talk) 02:33, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Lswatt:
- Hello Lisa, here's concise guide to creating a Wikipedia page:
- 1. Research: Gather reliable sources about the trumpet player, such as biographies, interviews, and articles from reputable publications.
- 2. Notability: Ensure your dad meets Wikipedia's notability criteria. They should have significant coverage in independent, reliable sources.
- 3. Structure: Organize your article with sections such as:
- Introduction: Brief overview of the player.
- Early life: Background information.
- Career: Key achievements, albums, and performance.
- Style and influence: Musical style and impact on others.
- Awards and recognition: Any accolades received.
- References: Cite all sources used.
- 4. Neutral tone: Write in a neutral, encyclopedic tone without personal opinions.
- 5. Formatting: Familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's formatting guidelines, including citation and links.
- 6. Create an account: Sign up for a Wikipedia account if you haven't already.
- 7. Draft and edit: Start drafting your article in your user space, then edit and refine it.
- 8. Submit: Once you're satisfied, move it to the mainspace or submit it for review.
Good luck! --HirowoWiki (talk | contribs) 02:58, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
