Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]

I noticed your submission in Articles for creation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Phil Rogers. Thanks! It will be reviewed by a volunteer soon.

Before it can be added to Wikipedia, your submission should have references. All articles on Wikipedia should have inline, numbered references after facts, showing the 'reliable source' (a newspaper, book, etc.) where the information can be checked, so that all information is verifiable.

Here's a video tutorial - hit play, then right-click for "full screen".

Here's an example of how to add references:

Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea.<ref> Smith, John. "[http://foonews.com/Article42 Interview with Chzz]", Foo News, 1 April 2010. Retrieved 2011-05-22. </ref>

== References ==

{{reflist}}

That makes the references automatically display as small numbers[1] which will link to the details in the section titled == References == at the end. You can see that example in action here.

Please add references to your submission, which will be reviewed as soon as possible. See also, Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. If you need any help, just put {{helpme}} at the end of this page, followed by a question or get into our live help chat chanel at #wikipedia-en-help connect.

File permission problem with File:Ash glazed+bowl.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ash glazed+bowl.jpeg, which you've attributed to Phil Rogers. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 01:25, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

An email was sent/forwarded some time ago to permissions. barbara 18:50, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did to Phil Rogers (potter), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 17:16, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I added a very minor clarification. The main reason why the article was initially accepted was due to notability because Phil Rogers has pieces held in more than 50 museums worldwide...that is a fact. Someone had removed that text and I simply re inserted it. It would be very difficult to find reference to that fact so I asked Phil Rogers myself and he confirmed it....the information is also there on his website ( www.philrogerspottery.com) but I dare say reference to his website wouldn't meet with your satisfaction? I think you are being pedantic to say the least. barbara 18:31, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

The cornerstone of Wikipedia is verifiability not fact, we need reliable third party sources for all content, I'm sorry if you think that is pedantic but that's how Wikipedia works. If you are also in conversation with the articles subject then you may also have a conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 18:40, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is taken from one of your articles.....According to their website "membership of the CPA is available to individual makers and to anyone interested in studio ceramics." Do you consider this as verified? Or should I simply say that according to his website etc etc?

Please sign your posts, The sentence above is NOT an extraordinary claim about a person. I don't see any relevance. Theroadislong (talk) 18:50, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is though an unverified fact about a national organisation......according to their website hardly seems to fit with your strict guidelines.

barbara 18:53, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

I have removed it and you are still not signing your posts correctly using 4 tildes. Theroadislong (talk) 19:03, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I did sign my comment as you asked and in the way you described so I am not sure why it appears unsigned. barbara 19:18, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

What I still don't understand is this....if the fact that he has pieces in more than 50 museums worldwide was crucial to the acceptance of the article in the first place ( notability) and the editor who accepted it was happy...why are you now questioning that fact when it was already accepted and pivotal in the first instance.barbara 19:24, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

The verifiable fact that he is in the V&A permanent collection is enough to assert his notability. If you can find a reliable third party source that says he is in more than 50 museums then you can add it back. Please assume good faith.Theroadislong (talk) 19:56, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 18:51, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
