FS stuff
Since you are back and I am banned from FS, I should mention two things that need doing:
- WP:FSL needs a July update
- None of the late-July promotions have appeared at WP:POST yet. I don't know what kind of wikipaperwork the project needs to do to make that happen.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:43, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- I will take a look --Guerillero | My Talk 17:25, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
I believe that all nominations can be closed (its been 20 days since the latest nomination). What say? Avenue X at Cicero (talk) 15:42, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Please clarify the closure of Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates/Kodály's Sonata for Solo Cello at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates/Featured log. It neither states promoted nor not promoted.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:09, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. I assume they were both promoted since one was three support/no opposes and the other was four support/no opposes.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:12, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

FSL counts
I see you only counted number of discussions, but if multiple files are nominated shouldn't you count them. I see 7 pass and 13 fail instead of 6 and 9.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 02:13, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
- That count is only discussions --Guerillero | My Talk 02:14, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

- Please take the time to read my paragraph. If you read WP:Vote#Deletion, moving and featuring I am supposed to go on the strength of the arguments presented not by the votes. You, Major B, and TCO (Who I don't fully count) offered no reason to why those files should be featured. It was up to my discretion and even one of the supports (Major B) admitted that there was no life or musical value in them. My decision was to not promote them due to the lack of an overwhelming consensus like a piece of featured content needs --Guerillero | My Talk 03:13, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Online Ambassadors: Time to join pods
Hello! If you're planning to be an active Online Ambassador for the upcoming academic term, now is the time to join one or more pods. (A pod consists of the instructor, the Campus Ambassadors, and the Online Ambassadors for single class.) The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) explains the expectations for being part of a pod as an Online Ambassador. (The MOU for pods in Canada is essentially the same.) In short, the role of Online Ambassadors this term consists of:
- Working closely with the instructor and Campus Ambassadors, providing advice and perspective as an experienced Wikipedian
- Helping students who ask for it (or helping them to find the help they need)
- Watching out for the class as a whole
- Helping students to get community feedback on their work
This replaces the 1-on-1 mentoring role for Online Ambassadors that we had in previous terms; rather than being responsible for individual students (some of whom don't want or help or are unresponsive), Online Ambassadors will be there to help whichever students in their class(es) ask for help.
You can browse the upcoming courses here: United States; Canada. More are being added as new pods become active and create their course pages.
Once you've found a class that you want to work with—especially if you some interest or expertise in the topic area—you should sign the MOU listing for that class and get in touch with the instructor. We're hoping to have at least two Online Ambassadors per pod, and more for the larger classes.
If you're up for supporting any kind of class and would like me to assign you to a pod in need of more Online Ambassadors, just let me know.

I can never tell if you have forgotten to finish the promotion procedure or not, but it has been a couple days since you promoted some of my noms and my talk page is still yearning. Just a reminder to complete the promotion process.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:42, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Copyright
Actually, it was from their official website:
http://www.warinthenorth.com/index.php/the-game/heroes
So I suppose no new content from anywhere can be put on that page. Whatever you say.
--78.105.39.132 (talk) 18:28, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
- That would be correct --Guerillero | My Talk 20:08, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
You are mistaken about WITN
- Copying informative information from the game's main website and referencing is not copyright infringement. Otherwise Warner would have already cease-and-desist every major gaming website in the internet.
- The person who edited the above post was ASKED by Snowblind to help with editing it since the page was noticed to be wrong but the Studio is busy with Gamescom.
- That page as is not only has little content in comparison to similar games and therefore in need of a revision but also the information displayed is erroneous and therefore does not meet wikipedia's standards.
I recommend that you engage in dialogue with users before deleting content without any guidance as to what you believe is the problem. It alienates potential contributes and damages the image and by extension the mission of Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.153.207.189 (talk) 00:17, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- Copying and pasting content from other sites is copyright infringement even if you give them credit. The fact that other people do it does not absolve anyone of infringement. --Guerillero | My Talk 00:25, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
No, you are wrong. I find it amusing that you are a moderator on this site and do not understand the basics of the sharing of information and the purposes of marketing text. Unfortunately you wouldn't be the first or last. The copyright over the content and the way of expression is not automatically applicable when used for educational purposes, such an enciclopedic entry would be. There is bandwith to the gray zone that allows citing and referencing and methods to convey information that stay in line with Wikipedia's standards. Your all-encompassing "Copying from other sites is copyright infringement" neglects to notice this significant variable. I recommend you revisit the texts on the subject and do not fall for the modern age misconception of copyright as hollywood has expanded it.
Reglardles: 1. You have no addressed points 2 and 3: Given the user has explicit, written permission and request by Snowblind (the "copyright owner" according to your conceptions) to update this page. 2. You continue to not engage in dialogue with the users and just repeat your point of view, again this is not in the spirit of what Wikipedia states wants to become.
So my point again: The current page is below Wikipedia Standards, it needs updating and revision, and the user above me has the necessary rights to add the information he did. Please revert this page back to the changes he introduced, and please in future consider dialogue rather than simple unilateral deletes that detract from the image and mission of Wikipedia. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.153.207.189 (talk) 00:49, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
- I am not an admin or moderator here just an editor. While you are correct that fair use exists, wikipedia has a much much higher bar called our non free content criteria. The text that was added would still be removed even if you tried to claim fair use due to the fact that a "free" alternative to the copied exists. That alternative is text that uses the website and reviews to come up with a version that is independent of the copyrighted webpage.
- It does not matter if the IP editor was told to expand the article. Due to wikipedia's policy on role accounts and conflict of interest the account would be most likely blocked. In addition, any content that is on wikipedia is free to use by anyone, eternally, if they provide attribution to us. To donate the text added, the publisher would need to state that the text is under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL or go through a process via email. --Guerillero | My Talk 01:09, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
I am glad you are not a moderator because I honestly don't think you understand what you're talking about. So I'm not going to encourage this discussion any further as you obviously don't have any final say on what stays or goes and I don't think you are literate enough in the legal details for the discussion to be fruitful. If you wish to really contribute to Wikipedia's mission, I suggest that you: 1. Revisit the texts and laws on the subject and acknowledge that laws are not black and white, as such blanket statements as the above are not only misleading, they are damaging to the site's mission. 2. Practice your conversation skills with users: Above, you responded "that would be correct" to a contributor stating that the WITN page cannot be changed ever. This is obviously not correct and you never bothered to address the real issue and made a short and erroneous answer instead. 3. Solve problems proactively: Closely related to number 2, when encountering a possible copyright infraction or any other issue, proposing how to fix the content to solve the issue is better than a simple deletion and blanket statements. If you do want to be an asset to the site, you should approach it positively.
I won't be coming back to read further replies because it is now up to you how you behave in future so feel free to not respond. I will sort out the WITN page as appropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.153.207.189 (talk) 01:25, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
